Car Shaking Problems

Car shaking problems are usually the results of mechanical problems. Out of adjustment tires or suspension will make the car shake after reaching a certain speed. Warped brake rotors will also make the car shake when it’s slowing down.

When at high speed the steering wheel is shaking?

The tires are out of balance...may need tires, or rim(s) are bent

Why would a car shake if the heat is on?

A good place to start is to check for leaks in the vacuum lines associated with the heater controls. Many of the controls are vacuum actuated & if there is a leak in a control or associated line it may cause a rough idle

What would cause the front end on a 1994 Chevy Z71 with a 6in lift and 35in tires to shake real hard when hitting a bump in the road or breaking when all the tie rod end and ball joint are new and the?

If you've verified that all suspension and steering components are in good condition and tight, the next step is to look at the shock absorbers.

Regardless of what you hear at the bar or chatting with backyard mechanics, shock absorbers have only one function; they dampen out tire bounce when you hit a bump. Your tires are like a basketball and when they hit something they want to keep bouncing until they have a reason to stop, either from NATURAL dissipation of the harmonic energy or if the shocks have dampened the bounce.

Oversized tires, wheels, axles and other "unsprung" components require that you use LARGER shock absorbers or possibly multiple shock absorbers to dampen out the harmonic bounce.

A good "off road" shop should be able to tell you more about it. NEW ANSWER: Need to put duel steering stablelizer shocks on and you will notice a

big difference.

When talking about tire handling what is tramline mean?

This is the tire tendency to follow road irregularities such as groove left by heavy trucks.

Kind of fighting with your steering wheel to change lane or keep it going straight.

Like you're riding on rails that steer the car instead of you! As tramways do!

Larger (245mm + ) low profile tires are more prone to this effect, when the contact patch is wider than it is long, tramlining is more likely to occur.

I think the main reason for tramlining is the tire design.

Some says that more longitudinal grooves in the tire = more tramlining.

In my case, with a 2000 Mustang GT, no sign of tramlining with new Pirelli P7000 245-45-17, but as they wear, it become present.

With Michelin Pilot MXGT H4 245-45-17, there is so much tramlining that it was dangerous.

Just in between with used Michelin Pilot Sport 225-50-17, they tramline but are not dangerous.

With Toyo Observe G0-2 (winter tire ), 205-65-15 , absolutly no tramlining at all, never, in any road condition.

What cause steering wheel to wobble at slow or fast speeds?

Tire out of balance, worn suspension parts, defective or loose wheel bearing, loose lug-nuts, or worn steering parts.

Van shakes when braking?

Vibration when applying brakes is most likely warped rotors. Another cause could be loose caliper bolts.

How do you make front wheel alignment?

It's an art as much as a science, and to do it right you need the right equipment.

First, you need to be able to determine the rotational plane of the wheels, then you need to make certain that the toe-in, caster and camber are all adjusted properly.

There aren't many jobs that I won't do on my own vehicle, but alignment is one of them. If you want it done right, take it to a professional.

Why does a car shake when braking?

This would normally be down to either: Warped Brake Discs (in some counties these are called Rotors) where there is a small ripple in the surface of the disc. This causes the brake pads (which are flat) to make intermittant contact with the surface which causes a vibration. This "warping" is not always visible to the naked eye. Worn or Perrished suspension compnents. This can lead to the wheels moving around in an unctrolled manner during braking which can also cause vibration.

What would cause shaking when you put the car in drive or reverse?

if its a rear wheel drive its possibly a U joint if its a front wheel drive transmission fluid is low or its just time for a new transmission or a rebuild on current transmission.

rebuilding a transmission is often better because you already know the car you have verses buying a different car you know nothing about.

What causes the front end to wobble real bad when you hit a bump or dip in the road on a 1990 f150 4x4?

this could be caused by a number of things, first check that shock absorbers are good. next check all ball joints and wheel bearings.then have king pins checked

What if your car engine had rough idle due to coolant entering the cylinders blown Head Gasket and you fixed the Gasket used Stop-Leak for repair but it still doesn't fire in all cylinders?

You cannot repair a blown head gasket with Stop-Leak. The head will have to be remove and a new gasket installed. Do not drive this car as serious engine damage will occur. I agree 100%. The head will have to come off and re-fitted with a new head gasket, and possibly exhaust and inlet gaskets as these tend to break if you have to remove the manifolds. Having the head "machine-skimmed" is also wise as it will ensure a gas tight seal between the engine block, head and gasket.I'm afraid that there is no way around this, if there were a bodge that could be done, I'd probably know about it!

What are the reasons 2000 Mazda B3000 pickup would shake violently while idling?

Many things. Mine did that when my spark plugs were misfiring. Check your entire timing system starting with the spark plugs and wires. Get diagnostics done at Autozone and it will tell you immediately.

Where do you find free assistance to repair your car when you're out of cash?

You can join a auto mechanic class if there's one offered near your home. Usually these courses are offered at adult schools, vocational schools, etc... There is a small fee to join the class but you'll save a lot of money by doing the labor yourself and with the help of your classmates. You can google this.

Why does your car shake at 55-60 mph but smooths out at 70?

You have a tire or tires out of balance.best to get tires road force balanced.

Steering wheel shakes when braking at high speed after hitting right tire on a curb also car pulls to the left when i let go of the steering wheel?

It sounds as if your vehicle might have suffered some serious damage when you hit the curb, especially since you hit the right tire but the vehicle pulls to the left. The fact that your vehicle shakes when braking means it may be unsafe to drive. It is possible that the brakes could fail completely when you need them the most. Have your vehicle inspected and repaired by a qualified mechanic immediately. After that, stop hitting curbs.

Why do the brake lights turn on with the headlights?

wrong taillight bulb is possible the bulb was recently replaced check to see if it has the correct application part#.

What is the main cause why the car was vibrating when you put in reverse?

The most probable cause would be the idle control on the engine. When you put a car in gear, there is a "load" put on it (the transmission is using power) and the idle speed normally drops. The idle could be dropping to the point where it becomes unstable and causes the engine to vibrate.

What would cause a strange wobbling sensation between 40-45 mph?

If this is a full sized RWD Ford car or a Jeep or a GM with TH-440, you may be looking at a torque converter shudder. Bring the vehicle to a reputable transmission shop for a road test and advice.

If this is a Mopar minivan from the early to mid 1990s, check for any available updates to the TCM programming.

Answer

You might need to have the tires balanced or you could need to have the car

aligned. Either of these could cause a wobble.
