All cars do it with fresh cats and an over rich condition. The ricers "computer up" their fuel flow and then you get that smell. You gotta burn a lot of gas to make BIG power.

What does the pollen filter do on a Ford Fiesta you could smell fumes coming through the vents and was told it was the pollen filter that needed replacing?

You do not list the year. Unless you are talking about a Fiesta built in Europe that is fairly new, it does not have a Cabin Filter. The smell you are smelling is more than likely mold or mildew growing inside the vents. Very hard to remove. Search Google with the term "Odor from dash vents" for advice on how to remove it.

If 2 gallons of gas spilled into your trunk how do you remove the odor from the liner and padding?

It's probably better to take out the entire carpet and replace it. However, after taking organic chemistry while in college, every hydrocarbon that we needed to clean off, we would use acetone (found in nail polish). Since we worked with hydrocarbons all the time, we were given gallons of these stuff. I forget the exact mechanism of the reaction, but it will break it down - which you could later wash off with water/soap. Of course, this was all on glass material, so I'm not sure how it would work in carpet. You may want to give it a try (let it soak in acetone for a while) if you have access to a whole lot of acetone. DON'T USE ACETONE IT WILL DESTROY THE CARPET The best thing is to take the liner out completely if you can. Hose it off first to get all the gas off. Then use vinegar to get rid of the smell. If that doesn't work, try using diluted bleach mixture. Use a spray bottle to get it on evenly on the back and front, then hose it off to get it all out. Repeat the vinegar method until the odor is gone. answer here is an easy fix. steam clean the offending area may need to do it twice put steam will evaporate what ever fuel is left in carpet etc

Since cars don't burn or use kerosene I would say the car has been around something that had kerosene in it ( camping stove and lantern) or had it poured on the surface some how.

What could be causing white or gray smoke not steam to be coming from your exhaust it smells burnt not sweet compression is fine and no oil in water or water in oil?

Well white smoke usually means your burning off coolant. It can be caused by a torn head gasket or intake gasket and also by a cracked head or a cracked intake. But if it doesn't smell sweet, and you don't have compression problems, it probably isn't coolant. Supposedly oil can also cause white exhaust smoke and one way is if the oil is overfilled.

Why is your 1981 Suzuki Samurai blowing smelly blue white smoke out the back especially when you climb hills?

The white smoke is a sign of oil burning. A possibility is that the engine is worn and needs a rebuild. The rings that seal the cylinder are leaking oil past them and into the combustion chamber and burning. After a few 100k the engines of the Suzuki's can require a rebuild. For the condition of the vehicle it is worth it, but it can be expensive.

Why does the inside of your car smell like paint fumes I picked it up from a body repair shop on Friday and it smells has a strong smell. What could they have done wrong?

The smell is normal I have had my cars painted several times and yes it's annoying. Some shops didn't make it stink as much as others. I have tried a lot, but what works the best is to get a bag of Charkhol open it and leave it in you car-it took the smell of my last repair job away in a couple of days.

Why would a 1998 Dodge Intrepid heater smell like cow manure when you first turn it on?

It is caused by a fungus which grows on the heater core or the a/c evaporator. There are things that you can spray in the air intake but they don't last long.

When the heater or defroster runs on 99 ford contour it causes respiratory issues but there is no odor.?

There is a possibility that mold has grown in the plenum, or in some of the ducting. I would recommend you take it to a shop that check for this and can clean out the entire system. Home remedies for this problem seldom work.
