Where is the location of the fuel pump on the volkswagen Polo year 2000?
Mounted on top and inside the fuel tank.
What does it mean when your engine sputters and you have white smoke coming from you tail pipes?
White smoke coming from your tail pipe often indicates an issue with your coolant. The smoke comes from burning coolant. The engine sputters and white smoke is likely an issue with the head gasket.
First check the fuel filter to see if you have fuel in it. If no fuel present check the fuel pickup pump, it is on the inside frame rail under the driver side of the cab. If filter is full the pcm control module is the next item to check, it is down under the front of the intake right next to the fuel injector pump. this is best done by a shop because the pcm is 2 -300 bucks and is hard to remove. If you replace it get an extension wire kit for it because it is electronic and the place it is mounted is very hot. I lost 2 of them before moving it to the fenderwell. Chevy knows this but will not tell you.
And third is the fuel injector pump this is about 1500 bucks I will not even attempt this one
What causes water in the pistons?
usually there is a blown head gasket or warped head to get water in a cylinder
What would cause a 1998 Taurus to stall intermittently when stopped?
Probably idle control sosonoid located on the throtle body. Take it off and clean it and where it mounts. Also cleqan the inside of the throtle body where the throtle plate is as a carrbon ring forms there.
Why would there be a delay when shifting your car into reverse?
The linkage in the transmition is loose.
I am having the same problem. I have brought the car in 3 times. They tell me there is nothing wrong, obviously they have not spent much time looking at the car, this happens to me 25% of the time. HELP!!!
I am still having the same problem. The VW dealership had it for over a week and when I got it back they had put a 5 centimetre scratch on the hood and cracked my windshield, then proceeded to tell me that it was there when I brought the car in. They have also told me that what i perceive to be the car having problems shifting gears, is just the car "downshifting" because it's a "low-emissions vehicle". Well, I'm still having the same problems and I haven't gotten any answers form the dealership. This is the first and last VW I'll ever own. The lack of customer service is appalling at the two dealerships I've dealt with.
If you have a manual transmission, then simply the car's engine dies because you release the clutch too quicly. If your car is automatic than you might have engine or transmission problems.
Your Rover 416 V reg cuts out when going through a large puddle can anyone explain why?
This was happening to me too for a couple of years. It turns out that there was a crack in the coil. Not sure what the coil is or does but I haven't had a problem since the mechanic changed it.
What is making the car sputter?
Could be a misfire, which means one or more cylinders are not firing. This could be caused by any number of reasons, from spark plugs to ignition wires to a bad fuel injector. Does it only happen when it is cold? does it shake at idle? It needs to be properly diagnosed, starting with a scan of the computer for trouble codes and sensor values. Guessing and replacing parts that may be good will be much more expensive that the cost of a professional diagnosis. spark plug wires, plugs , coil, injector, etc. Another problem that is commonly overlooked when every engine component seems fine, is a dirty or bad mass air flow sensor.
Why does your car shut off when you park it?
This question makes no sense. Are you trying to say the engine backfires when you shut it off?
** I have a 2000 Silverado 4.3L V6 and every now and again, it cuts off when I put it in park. Initially, I thought that I was "hitting" my keys when I shifted into park. I took all of my keys off (except my truck key) and it still shut off. Any advice would help.
The engine doesnt backfire, it simply shuts off. I can re-start the engine immediately and it runs fine.
A2: There is a starting safety switch to both Park and Neutral. I bet it won't shut off if you simply select N. The switch is probably out of adjustment. I assume you have a column shift. There is a long stem to contact the switch at the bottom of the steering column. When pull, and hold, the shifter all the way CCW to Park, it also disconnects ignition, somehow. When you release it, it goes back to normal. This is why you can restart--you release the handle to turn the key. If you hold the stick back full CCW again, and try to start, and again get no ignition; there is slack in a pushrod or it needs adjustment/switch replacement. My Mom's '78 El Camino got so you had to turn the ignition key realll slowww or it wouldn't start. It was a loose screw at the ignition switch.
Ac blows hot air then you lose power when stepping on the gas pedal?
If the a/c is blowing hot air then first check the freon levels in the system...
If the a/c system is full but shuts off while accelerating then check the power and ground going to the clutch coil and the pressures switches as well....
If the a/c has issues while accelerating then you need to check for a vacuum leak which is a very common problem with a lot of vehicles.........
How do you get the plastic off headlight to clean?
If you've got at least $10 and an hour, it is easy. Your local auto parts store has several Headlight Restoration Kits. Essentially, the clear coat on the plastic or acrylic headlight begins to break down after years of use. That is when oxidation and wear begins to set in. The kits polish or sand away this top layer to reveal a fresh clean layer underneath. The key is to ensure you get a kit with a protective coating to put on top of the freshly polished headlights. Yellowed, dull, or fogged headlights are a safety risk, so when you have a chance, get them clean!

Mechanic In A Can (dot com). "Comparing Headlight Restoration Kits"
**NOTE: The plastic on the headlight is usually part of a housing and can't be removed individually, but the entire housing can if it needs to be replaced.**
Your car has high revs even after you have taken your foot off the accelerator what does this mean?
throttle plate stuck?
I'm not sure. When I'm driving, I take my foot off the gas and the car jerks and when I have to stop and I push on the brakes the car revs and jerks forward and occasionally stalls
Why would a sunfire be over revving then sometimes idle too low?
ould be a faulty sensor or idle control motor. Try a diagnostic test.
Why would your car shut down while driving?
Could be the fuel pump. To check for sure take the air cleaner off (or the "neck" that goes to the air cleaner) and spray some carb cleaner or starter fluid in it pointing toward the motor. If it runs for a second that tells you there is a fuel delivery problem. You might want to start by checking the fuse to your fuel pump. Sometimes the obvious can be overlooked.
When my alternator went, my radio first shut off and then the car died
Losing spark, fuel or compression. The first answer regarding fuel loss is good spot to start. Other insights to this: If it cranks but doesn't start, you can eliminate the charging system mention in answer 2. IF it cranks faster than normal but doesn't start, suspect the timing belt.
Guys! One REAL common reason cars quit running while being driven is Broken Timing Belt. Pull the distributor cap and try turning the motor over--if the engine turns and the rotor in the distributor doesn't, the timing belt's your problem.
What would make a 1996 dodge neon lose power and use a lot of gas?
check compression in cyclinders or catalytic converter may be stopped up.
Why does your car stall when air conditioner is on?
It sounds like you have a locked up a/c compressor or a bad a/c clutch..........
i had a problem may be similar to that, the problem turn out to be that i had a loose ground connection at the battery, i had 2 thick wires and a skinny wire between them, so the skinny wire was not as thight as the other 2 fat ones. and with the vibration from the vehicle it used to separate for a split second causing my engine to shut off.(that wire was the only path that my engine had for its ground) but after the vehicle stoped moving it would just start again like nothing ever happened.and yes the oil and engine light would come on too.
check your ground conections.if you were making a turn then you may want to look at another reason for that for ex, broken/corroded gas tank bafles. when the bafles go and you make a turn the gasoline would be sent to the side of the gas tank away from the fuel pump causing your vehicle to shut off until the gas returns to the center of the tank .it happens.
Why does engine die when slowing down to turn corner?
It could be watered down gas. It could be watered down gas. It could be watered down gas.
Why would your van just shut off?
It happened to my van a long time ago, after I loosened the gas tank cap, it never happened again. I guess the ventilation or gas tank cap malfunctioned so no air was let in. You can try this one. .
