What to do when a car stalls in middle of highway?
Put your hazard lights on, downshift to neutral, slow down, and pull over on the shoulder. Then try to start it up again from there. The most important thing to do is stay calm and don't panic. If you don't know what else to do you can call for help.
Why does car act like it wants to cut off when taking off?
spark plugs of spark plug wires. i had the same problem and i changed my spark plugs to the e3 ones and my spark plug wires to the msd 8.5mm wires and i haven't had the problem any more.
I had the same problem with my eh Holden and found that the carby bowl was dirty and the main jet was blocked.
if its on a injector car try cleaning the injectors with a fuel additave

Why does your 1986 Oldsmobile Calais stalls when brakes are applied?
engine idleing to slow turn up your idle to 1500 rpm at idle drive safe
It is located on the firewall side of the engine. Towards the passenger side. Just above the oil pan. (The original respondent) just replaced one on a 1991 3.1 liter. I was lucky that I had access to a lift. It was sort of a pain but I got it replaced in about 45 minutes. The bolt is 8mm. Use a 1/4 drive with a long extension.
How do you locate a vacuum leak?
The easiest way to find a vacuum leak involves using any brand/type of carburetor cleaner or any some other type of cleaner in a spray can or spray bottle. With the engine running you spray around the suspected area . If there is a leak at the location you are spraying the carb cleaner, you will immediately notice an increase in the RPM of the engine. You can use this method to find cracks in a vacuum hose that are very hard to see if they are surrounded by wiring harness' and other items. This also works if you have a carb or throttle body base gasket leaking, intake manifold gasket leaking or even mismatched manifold with the cylinder heads.
Where is the camshaft position sensor on 2001 ford escort?
The camshaft position sensor on a 2001 Ford Escort is located on the passenger side of the motor. It is right on top of the motor to the left of the valve cover.
Try a MAP sensor
First of all you are wasting your money using 91 octane fuel. It provides no benefit whatsoever. No more power, no better mileage, nothing! Anyone who tells you different is dead wrong. It is nothing more than a myth that using a higher octane fuel than your engine is designed to runon will help in any way. Use 87 octane fuel as is required and save your hard earned money. Of course the use of a lower octane that required is not the thing to do as engine damagemay occur from pre-detonation. Your Prism requires 87 octane and not 91. Is the check engine light on? You need to replace the plug wires if you have not done so. Purchase2 cans of Seafoam fuel injector cleaner at most Auto Parts stores. Fill your tank and add 1 can. After driving this tank out repeat the procedure. Also replace every single vacuum hose under the hood. Replace then one at a time as to not get confused. This car is 16 years old and I will assure you some are cracked or leaking if you have never replaced them. Cheap repair that is often overlooked. You also may have a defective fuel pressure regulator or leaking injector. After replacing the wires, using the Seafoam, and replacing the vacuum hoses, see how it runs. If you still have the problem, seek professional help and do not start throwing unnecessary parts at it. You will be money ahead in the end.
Where is the 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 2 located?
Bank one is the side of the engine with cylinder #1.
Sensor two is after the catalytic converter.
Can too much oil damage your spark plugs?
Too much oil can cause serious engine damage from lack of lubrication. When the oil level is overfull it makes contact with the crankshaft. This creates a foaming action that mixes air with the oil. The oil then becomes a very poor lubricant and the engine will overheat and there will be bearing damage. Fouled spark plugs is the least of your worries when you overfill a crankcase.
When I start my car it idles very low and then stalls and shakes. Whats wrong with my 90 300zx?
check your idle controle moter. it is probably crudded up or not wotking.
Sounds a little fishy to me. Do you have a check engine light on? If so check for codes. Otherwise, check for dirty throttle body or bad powertrain mount. Oh, park... forget the mount. Dirty throttly body or bad IAC are mos likely. Just possibly as bad spark plug. You aren't using regular gas in a Nissan requiring 91 octane, are you?
My car starts but wont go in gear. what could be wrong?
If your car still starts then you probably need some transmission fluid. If after that it still doesnt work your transmission probably droped and you'll need a new one. also try pushing on the clutch
Try gaping the spark plugs. I had the same issue where it would stall when I was in gear and stopped unless I had my foot on the gas, then gaped the plugs and immediately the problem went away
~ Usually this is caused by a vacuum leak
91 s10 stalls when the headlights are turned on what could be wrong?
An electrical short when you turn your headlights on.
Check the fuses and make sure you have the correct fuse for the headlamps.
Check all wiring to the headlamps, check for corrosion of the cabling or melting of the insulation.
Why would a car stall after the radiator fan turns on?
A critical voltage drop probably is occurring at either your fuel pump or the electronic ignition module (computer), when a large current load is being drawn by the fan motor. Wait until it stalls and won't start, and then simply umplug the connector to the radiator fan, and see if this "cures" the problem. If so, then check the voltage at the fuel pump wires or relay (should be at least 12 volts with engine running). The control signal to the relay comes from the ignition computer, which shuts down when a critical low voltage is reached (perhaps 9 volts or so). If the fan motor is the problem, and not turning freely,it would be drawing excessive current flow, and need replacement. Otherwise, the problem may be a corroded wire "take off" from the battery "pos" red wire or battery post, or a bad connection at the fuse block, etc. such that the fan motor is "stealing" current flow downstream from a high resistence connection, leaving insufficient current to run the fuel pump. // Jake

AnswerThis problem is a pain. A 93 sunbird SE with 3.1L did the same thing to my wife and after throwing lots of money on everything like plugs and sensors (from the dealer techs), it came down to a TCC. The car would warm up fine and for the first few miles be ok (on cool days). On warm days the car would run ok until she got into stop and go traffic. The fan would come on (coincidence?)and the car would suddenly shudder and even if she put it in neutral it would stall. The advice of making sure all the wiring is intact as well as the fuses and the fluids checked out is a good idea. There is a Technical service Bulletin with GM. I .Good Luck
What is a TCC?
Answer
Torque Conveter Clutch.
my 98 does the same but not with a/c on. I have only found fuel filter/pump suggestion as with 96 blazer stalling while driving. Will check out and let you know.
Suzuki made a good reliable ATV. If it starts and then stops, there is most likely an issue with gas flow.
I believe that has a plastic gas tank, so no concerns about rust in the empty gas tank (tractors have that issue).
Your best bet is to clean the tank and carb real well with carb cleaner. Be sure to make sure the float is working, all orfices are clean and the choke moves. Stick with it, it will work again.
What makes the engine a 1998 Honda civic die out at stop signs and stop lights?
IF IT RUNS WELL OTHERWISE, EXCEPT AT IDLE.- IT DIES - OR WHEN YOU LET OFF GAS IT DIES, CHECK THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE (CHECK HOSES) I HAD THE MAP HOSE SPLIT AND IT WAS THROWING OFF THE FUEL INJECTION WHICH WAS MAKING THE CAR SPUTTER AND STALL AT LOW SPEED OR ON IDLE WHEN YOU LET OFF THE GAS. ALSO IF YOU GAS IT LIGHTLY ENOUGH JUST TO KEEP IT ALIVE, TURN ON THE LIGHTS,AC,RADIO,WIPERS,ETC. WHILE KEEPING THE IDLE THE STEADY- IF THIS MAKES IT WORSE AND IT DIES YOUR PROBABLY LOOKING AT THE VALVE BEING NO GOOD ITSELF (IF ALL HOSES CHECK OUT OK) MY CAR, 99 GRAND AM $75 PART. SOMETIMES YOU CAN CLEAN IT BUT ALOT OF TIMES IT DOESENT WORK AND MAKES THE VALVE WORSE FROM MY EXPERIENCE. BUY THE PART TRY TO CLEAN THE STOCK VALVE IT IF IT WORKS RETURN THE PART IF NOT CONTINUE YOUR JOB.
2005 Buick Lacrosse stalls after engine is started?
Type your answer here... If the engine is not running after starting; yes, it has stalled.
What wrong when the instrument panel lights dim when AC is turn on?
When you turn on the A/C the engine RPMs drop slightly. If this causes the dash light to dim slightly then I would suspect your alternator is weak or the drive belt is slipping. Check the belt and adjust or replace as necessary. Also check the output of the alternator with the engine running at idle. You should get a reading of 13.5 to 15.5 volts on a digital volt meter.
