Car Starting Problems

Well, there's no real way to bypass a starter on an car with an automatic transmission. On a manual, you can push the car and pop the clutch to make the engine turn over. There is a way to determine if your starter is working but your starter solenoid isn't. You arc the two terminals on the starter (with the car in park/parking brake on) with a screwdriver or piece of wire. If the starter turns/sounds normal, it's most likely the solenoid.

No you can not, Even if you could use a external pump, you would still have to take the pump out of the tank and modify the sending unit so it would pick up the fuel and pump it.

Its ur immobiliser. Sit yourself in the car with doors shut, turn ignition as if you were starting until dash is fully lit. Then hold the button just in front of your ignition barrel. It looks like a picture of a speaker. Keep this pressed until your lights and indicators reset and your car should start.

Key or ignition tumbler is worn. If you cannot remove the key, then you will have to remove the tumbler assembly and replace it. If you can get the key out, then try a key that is not used very often. If it works, have a duplicate made of that key and destroy the other key with the problems.

You either have a corroded or loose battery cable connection at the battery, a defective or drained battery, defective starter relay or starter.

First thing to check is the fuel pump relay. IT could also be that big air clearner hose. If that is broken or cracked anywhere these it will cause over fuelling.

Any time an engine doesn't fire it will ALWAYS be because of one or more of the following problems: Compression, ignition or fuel delivery. Start with fuel, since that's easiest. Use a little starting fluid to see if you can get it to fire a little. If it runs with starting fluid, you know it's a fuel delivery problem. If that doesn't tell you anything, try the ignition. Pull a spark plug wire then connect it to a spare sparkplug and lay the sparkplug on a solid metal part of the engine block. Crank the engine and have a helper watch the plug to see if there is a nice, strong spark. If you have good spark, next run a compression test. If the compression is consistently low across all engines, you have probably slipped a timing belt. Once you have it narrowed down, you can start looking at that specific system to see what needs to be done to solve the problem. The ignition switch is one unit and you replace the entire thing. Do not confuse the ignition switch with the key lock tumbler. They are two different things.

Sounds like it could be your battery, it might just need a jump. If not try banging your starter alittle with a hammer.

While attempting to start the engine, look for a small icon that looks like a car with a padlock around it. If the light is there and flashing, then there is a problem with your vehicles Body Control Module (BCM). Either the BCM is dead or there is problem in communication between it and the vehicle's Power Control Module (PCM).

A flashing check engine light (CEL) means it needs to be taken to a mechanic now. Nissans have a history of sensors coming on, but a flashing sensor indicates a problem requiring immediate attention. Not sure why the car won't start, but could be a number of reasons. I had a fuel sensor go bad on my Maxima and it wouldn't start because it flooded the pistons, so I replaced that sensor. But you may have a different problem. Bottom line, have it towed to a mechanic.

Disconnect the battery. Unhook the starter wires. Remove the two bolts on the starter. Take the starter out, and bolt the new one in. Reverse the procedure to finish the installation.
