Key or ignition tumbler is worn. If you cannot remove the key, then you will have to remove the tumbler assembly and replace it. If you can get the key out, then try a key that is not used very often. If it works, have a duplicate made of that key and destroy the other key with the problems.

Any time an engine doesn't fire it will ALWAYS be because of one or more of the following problems: Compression, ignition or fuel delivery. Start with fuel, since that's easiest. Use a little starting fluid to see if you can get it to fire a little. If it runs with starting fluid, you know it's a fuel delivery problem. If that doesn't tell you anything, try the ignition. Pull a spark plug wire then connect it to a spare sparkplug and lay the sparkplug on a solid metal part of the engine block. Crank the engine and have a helper watch the plug to see if there is a nice, strong spark. If you have good spark, next run a compression test. If the compression is consistently low across all engines, you have probably slipped a timing belt. Once you have it narrowed down, you can start looking at that specific system to see what needs to be done to solve the problem. The ignition switch is one unit and you replace the entire thing. Do not confuse the ignition switch with the key lock tumbler. They are two different things.

It's possible that it was wired wrong when the starter was changed. If you connect the small wires to the wrong place it will run, as you say, constantly.
IF it was functioning properly for a while and this is a NEW condition, it's probably the solenoid. If that's the case, just replace the starter since the solenoid is built in most of today's starters.

If the light is there and flashing, then there is a problem with your vehicles Body Control Module (BCM). A flashing check engine light (CEL) means it needs to be taken to a mechanic now. Nissans have a history of sensors coming on, but a flashing sensor indicates a problem requiring immediate attention. Not sure why the car won't start, but could be a number of reasons. I had a fuel sensor go bad on my Maxima and it wouldn't start because it flooded the pistons, so I replaced that sensor. But you may have a different problem. Bottom line, have it towed to a mechanic.

Could be flat battery - check with a good meter, it should show at least 11.9 volts at rest. Check both terminals are clean and tight. Check ground wire where it's bolted to the frame for clean and tight.
A fully charged battery will read 12.6 volts with the engine off. At 75% charge it will read 12.4 volts, at 50% it will read 12.2 volts, & at 25% charge it will read 12 volts. Any less and the battery is basically dead. Must be checked with a digital volt meter. Can also be the starter is failing.
