The engine is fuel injected and idle is controlled by the ECM (computer) on 1993 cars

Start at 1 1/2 turns from "seat" position and adjust each screw equally until you get the best and smoothest idle

Remove the carb and take the bowl off the bottom. Remove the jets and soak in carb cleaner. Make sure you can see daylight through them.

The original carburettor in the golf and scirocco was a pierburg. It was a complex and very well engineered device. When it worked it was very efficient and effective but sadly when it didn't, it was very inefficient. Because it was complex and difficult to maintain without special knowledge, most people opted for the webber conversion. The webber is not as efficient but it is simpler and easier to maintain. It will not give you more HP and it will burn more fuel than a well run pierburg but it is a lot more reliable if you don't know how to keep a pierburg.

start @ 1 1/2 turn out for air-fuel ratio on both sides set idle to around 750rpm then go from there ...ajust settings between bog on rich and lean to give the smoothest and highest idle

hi ya the most common cause of a stuck float in my opinion is wen the carb has had crapy fuel in it {a tank with rust in it} which then has passed into the carb and around the throttle float and as we all know like with the piston in the head when its got crap in for some bizzare reason it will score the bore and pit it well this is the same thing the fine rust that does manage to get through the filter on top of the fuel tap it goes behind the float and scores the inside of the carb where the float sits and slides up and down which iturn makes it stick my suggestion would be eiter buy a new slide and get a fine bit of sand paper an lightly sand the inside where the slide sits and you can also lightly rub down the float but carefully bit by bit and keep puting it in the top of carb where it sits to makesure you dont over do it if your too tight to spend few quid on a new slide lol

Do you mean the GM (chev, etc) 3.1 V6?

It's a throttle body injection engine with no choke.

The only adjustment you should attempt is the idle adjustment which can be

turned clockwise or counter clockwise. You must let the cycle completely

warm up before adjusting. All other adjustments should be made by a qualified

cycle mechanic. The idle adjuster should be on the left side.

Unless the car has mega miles, the only thing is dirt inside or outside the carb to hinder the proper operation. Parts can wear out with many miles.

Just order a new one, You can find them on the Internet for around $25.

Loss of power and hard to obtain high speed possible overheating and poor fuel mileage. shake it and see if it rattles, sometimes the honeycomb things fall of and block up the exhaust You'll also get a check engine warning light when you lose power.

Might be the fuel filter? Fish around in the tank and see if you can retrieve a tube that will connect to it.

These diagrams can be easy to find. It is best to look through the users manual or to find an image online.

if it has a 22re engine, low coolant could be the culprit. a bad head gasket (which actually also causes low coolant) could be the problem too. This model year Supra came with a 5M-GE engine and the idle hunt is most likely an air intake leak. check for air leaks from the air filter box all the way to the throttle. you need to check all the joints in that air duct. if air is getting pulled into that duct, the map sensor info to the ecu will be wrong and the computer will try to adjust the engine idle. found 5 holes in my air duct and car wouldn't even idle till it was fixed

At the top rear passenger side of the carb there is a setscrew locking a spring adjustment that goes to the vacuum butterfly on the sceondary. the spring is only adjustable 1 turn. A slotted screwdriver is used to turn the spring adjuster after you loosen the Allen screw.

Are you sure it has a carburetor? Let's for sake of agruement it does, would you mean an exploded view or vacuum routing diagram or somthing else? BClear.

With the engine running, turn the idle screw until you get the speed you want.

It if fuel injected and does not have a carburetor.

your float could me stuck or the needle could be bad mines doing the same thing im gonna just buy a new carb there $35 shipping and everything on eBay
