Because the flywheel needs to spin in order to cool the coolant that's in the radiator. While the car is moving, the flywheel is moving anyway. However, while in park, the car is not moving, and therefore the flywheel is not moving either. Every so often the engine will rev, spin the flywheel, and keep the engine from overheating.
This may be the worst answer ever written. I can"t tell you what is wrong but I can promise it is not the flywheel. The flywheel is in the back of the engine, it connects the enginge drive to the transmission, it also has the teeth that the starter uses to turn the enginr to start it. The part the last responder was refing to is the colling fan. While a cluth fan (which a 95 jimmy has) can spin faster than the engine RPM, it wouldn't reflect on the tachometer. I would guess you have an issue with a TPS (thottle position sensor, or the IAC (Idle Air Control).

You can't. Best advice is to take it to a facility equipped to do diagnostics to find out why it is on and if it is on by mistake they will reset it. If you don't get the diagnostics it could cost you a lot of money.
It can be turned off by disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few mins. If its a hard code then it will come back on, mine came on and being a former mech. I put fuel injector cleaner in it, that solved the problem till that tank of gas ran out, then it came on again ,i then changed the gas filter and that solved the problem, the fuel injectors were clogging from the dirty fuel filter.

Volkswagen told me it's a sensor located in the front right fender that senses fuel fumes from the gas tank to a recirculation valve on the engine. They said it's a $30 part that will cost $300 in labor to get to. Volkswagen recommended I not worry about unless I had the $330 dollars to throw away. The entire plastic molding piece that surrounds the stereo as well as covers the speedometer is attached by some push clips and can be simply pulled off, no screws. Once the plastic surrounding is removed there will be 2 screws holding the stereo in place. Remove the 2 screws and pull the stereo out. Unplug the wire harness and antenna.
