I have had this happen many times, and the culprit is usually a fuel cap that has not been put on correctly. Check your fuel cap, remove it, and re-install correctly. It will take a while for the light to go off again (sometimes up to half a tank of gas), but it should be out by the time you need to fill up again. I have also had one instance where I filled up at a non-chain gas station, and my light went on. It stayed on until I ran another complete tank through, and the only answer I have is that it was crappy gas. I don't know much about cars, but I understand that the fuel system is pressurized, and when your cap isn't on correctly, your car's computer recognizes that there is something wrong with the system pressure, which turns on the light. It is possibley your alternator or battery

i have a 98 accord also and had this particular problem, if the problem occurs when you take turns, it is most likely oil pressure. you should top up your oil and make sure your oil pump is providing adequate pressure. the problem will not show any signs unless the oil pressure drops signifigantly than you may be replacing your engine. josh

The check engine light (service engine soon) comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. Generally, the problem is in the emissions or something that is affecting the effectiveness of the emissions, but other causes can trigger the light to come on, too. To determine the cause, the vehicle will need to be taken to AutoZone or a shop that has an OBD2 scanner, or for 1995 and earlier models, an OBD1 scanner, While a scanner will not give you the magic answer, it will give you a code that narrows down the problem area.

Without the corresponding software for the system throwing up codes, the only thing you can do is reboot the ECMs... disconnect the batteries, let them stay disconnected for about 15 minutes, then connect them again.

P0300 Diagnostic Code - Random Misfire

Symptoms.

Cause
Failing spark plugs or spark plug wires
Bad coil or coil pack
Failing oxygen sensor(s)
Bad fuel injector or more than one
Stuck exhaust valve
Bad catalytic converter
EGR valve or valve passage clogging
Bad camshaft position sensor
Bad PCM or ECM

The Fix
Best first action is a tune up, new plugs, wires, inspect all hoses and wire connections then reset the code. If it returns you will need to narrow it down to a system, coils and coil packs should be tested, catalytic converters for function ( do you smell rotten eggs?). A misfire that jumps cylinders could indicate a lean condition, do you have any other codes along with the 300? this will help clue you in to the source, check valve function to make sure they are opening and closing fully.
This is probably pone of the most difficult codes to troubleshoot, so start with the basics and work your way into the more expensive options, in many cases a good old tune up solves the problem, back it up with a fuel system cleaning and see where you stand.

That requires an engine scanner to do that. If you don't repaire what made the light come on in the first place it will just come back on.

Large emission vapor leak.

Check the gas cap and all lines from the tank to the engine.

It can mean many many things. Have the ECU scanned with an OBD2 scan tool. This will retrieve the code that has been set.

Remove the negative battery cable for two minutes. The light should reset. If it comes back on within a short amount of time, something is obviously wrong and needs to have a diagnostic check by plugging in a tester at a local auto parts store or mechanic at a garage.

Get your engine checked

Not necessarily. Any decent mechanic can tell you what the problem is.

A flashing check engine light generally means something serious has gone wrong; you need to find a code scanner to find out what it is. If the light comes on for a while then goes off it means you have a problem and should check it out but it won't hurt to wait until you get to a shop or have a chance to check it yourself. Either way, you shouldn't waste a lot of time plugging it in to a code scanner.

You can borrow, rent or buy a code scanner at most auto parts retailers.

It is very easy to reset the check engine light on a VW car. All you have to do is to push the wrench button located near the trip reset. You will hold it in while turning on the ignition. after the service message appears, let go of the wrench button and hold in the minute button. Turn the ignition off and the computer will reset.

If your check engine light is blinking with the engine running that is indicating a misfire - get your vehicle scanned for any trouble codes to diagnose and then repair the problem

Try the gas cap...

Look for any cracked hoses between the fuel tank and engine.

3.0 liter v6 twin turbocharged There was no 1990 3000GT the prototype model HSX was made in 1989 and the production started for the year 1991. But yes, it did include a 3.0 liter V6 twin turbo.

Take your vehicle to your local Auto Zone and have the computer diagnozed for trouble codes - there is no charge. I would venture to guess the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is faulty and stuck in the closed throttle position which would cause an over-flow of fuel into the piston cylinders, causing the engine to hesitate and wet the spark plugs with excess fuel. - Good luck.

The vent control valve is located under the left rear fender and attached to the EVAP Canister, according to NTB96--07b. Good Luck

Not too much, really. Regular oil changes help a lot. Older pre-1987 versions required frequent valve cover gasket replacement. If using more than 12-1 compression, pay attention to the quality of your head gaskets. No such thing as too good.

Substituting a high volume oil pump and a deeper oil pan can be helpful for heavy duty applications.

Unhooking a battery doesn't clear the codes on a 2003 Jeep. You need a scan tool.

According to my T5 manual, toothed belt (cam belt) replacement intervals depend on engine type.

They recommend asking the dealer. For 1.9ltr diesel reccomended replacement of belt and tensioner is at

90,000km -60,000mls.

Take your car to MB dealer and they will reset it for you ....simple I think the person was wondering how you reset the check engine light yourself. Obviously, everything can be fixed by taking it to a MB dealer. I imagine that is not at all what they were looking for. All you have to do is to pull the EFI fuse and then put it back in. This will reset the system. That is much more simple.
