MID 128 PID 111 has to do with the engine coolant level in the Volvo. It is a code that can be gotten when the check engine light is flashing.

Check your gas cap. The check engine light may come on if the gas cap isn't on tight enough.

As for whether a car can pass inspection in Maine this way, I do not know.

A check engine light is always caused by the same thing; the computer has detected a fault (some kind of problem) and is instructing you to connect a code scanner to read the code. That's the only way to know WHAT the computer is trying to tell you.

Above the gas pedal, under the dash, there is 2 wires with clips that you plug together. Check engine light will flash the codes recorded in the ecu.

Code p1443 is a malfunction in the evap system. It can be a loose gas cap, a bad flow sensor/circuit, a bad evap solenoid/circuit or even a leak in the evap system. The location is passenger side of engine near A/C condensor. It has 2 air lines connecting at the top and a plug with 3 wires at the bottom. The size is roughly 3 inches in circumfrance, by 4 inches long. It releases air and that's why the check engine light comes on related to the emission system. Once you find the location the part takes less than 5 minutes to replace . You still will have to get the check engine light code deleted from whomever. Autozone will do it for free.

I have a 2002 Galant GTZ - basically the same car. Disconnect the battery cable for a period of time. This will clear out the computer's memory and reset the light. If the light continues to come back on afterwards, then you might want to get it checked. I've done this on my Galant as well as a 1999 Jeep Cherokee and 1999 Dodge Avenger. I think it will work on any car where the engine light doesn't turn off unless externally reset. When I've done it, I've had the battery cable off for as long as overnight and short as 4 or 5 hours. Just depended on when I disconnected it and when I needed to drive it again. May be able to do it for less time. Just need it to be long enough for the computer to lose it's memory. Of course, you'll lose your radio presets as well.

Emissions problem. Have the computer scanned for trouble codes. Under the dash on the drivers side there is a fuse block and there is a empty spot in the block that has ridges around it. put a spare fuse in it and turn the key but dont start the car and watch the check engine light it will flash the codes. Like Blink----BlinkBlink, which is a code 12 which is a no trouble code.

i know that a secondary air injection is what is known as an air pump and the pump new is 180 dollars at Advanced Auot Parts. But before you replace it try checking the fuse for the pump next to the battery and see if it is blown it is only about 3 dollars. It is in a black box on the left side of the battery right against the passenger side panel.

www.autonostics.com has a diagonstic testing tool (you can purchase for about $25) which simply plugs into a 16-pin socket typically found under the instrument panel. This tool comes with a book which contains a list of code definitons, although I am not entirely certain whether they are applicable to anything other than the tool it comes with.

When the check engine light or MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is blinking approximately once every second it is indicating what is called a Type A Misfire. A misfire occurs when one or more cylinders is not contributing to the power output of the engine. Type A misfires are damaging to the catalytic converter on the vehicle and are therefore deemed very harmful. Misfires can be caused by a variety of things but can generally be classified into one of three categories: Fuel, Ignition, Base Engine. Fuel could be a malfunctioning injector for example. An ignition example could be a spark plug that is not firing due to a bad ignition coil. A base engine example could be a bent connecting rod or a hole in a piston. Catalytic converters can be quite expensive to replace so might want to get it repaired sooner rather than later.
