What is code P0700 on a Dodge?
P0700 is EATX code present.
It simply means that the engine computer has noticed that the transmission computer has a dtc in it. This causes the Pcm (engine computer) to turn the check engine light on. You will need to have the TCM (trans computer) checked for codes to know what to diagnose.

How do you check for flash codes without a scan tool?
If your vehicle is 1995 or later, you must use an OBDII scanner to retrieve the trouble codes. Fortunately, there are auto parts stores that will scan free of charge. If your vehicle is pre-1995, you can try your local public library to see if there is a repair manual (Haynes or Chilton) for your vehicle available for checkout. In the manual you will find full instructions on how to retrieve the codes without a scanner and what each code means.

When battery dies and check engine light comes on what does this mean?
Short answer: Try driving your car for 60 miles to see if the light turns off. Sometimes the car ecu just needs some time to reset itself. If it doesn't shut off, then bring your vehicle to a auto parts store to borrow their OBD-II reader. The reader will give you error code(s) which you can investigate.
Long answer: <a href="http://www.onlinesmogcheck.com/blog/turn-check-engine-light-off/93">How to turn check engine light off</a>

How do you turn off the check engine light on a 2000 Ford exployer?
The powertrain computer has to be scan to get the codes. The you fix the problem and with the scanner you clear the codes.
If you disconnect the negative battery post it will turn off the check engine light and also reset the powertrain memory. But that might only solve the problem for a short period of time, and it might not work at all if the problem is present.
I also have a 1997 Monte Carlo LS 3.1 and I've had the same problem. It was the alternator.
Why would a 1998 GMC Jimmy engine light come on?
I don't know. but for my VW, the service rep said that it is a reminder for routine engine maintenance. if its flashing,,, then its a problem he said The short and sweet is that something is wrong. I'll cut and paste a reply to an Olds Silhouette driver who asked a similar question. Here goes, see ya at the bottom: The quick, dirty, and cheap answer is tighten your gas cap until it clicks at least 5 times. Within one or two days the vacuum in the gas tank will build up and reset the code. The not so cheap answer is take it to a dealer with a blank check, he'll tighten your gas cap and charge you $150. Or you can buy an OBDII Code reader or better yet a decoder that hooks to your car's computer and reads out your engine diagnostics real time. OBDII stands for OnBoard Diagnostics level 2 and replaced the older OBD1 around 1996. It tracks hundreds of items such as ignition timing, fuel trim and pressure, the number of times your Oxygen Sensor transitions from rich to lean(I got that one)and a list longer than your arm, including loose gas caps. It's a phenominal system which can even tell the police how fast you were going and if you applied the breaks before you plowed through the front window of that car dealership you love so well. The real problem with this system is that there is no way for it to tell you whats on its mind without an expensive interface that the dealer has. Until now that is. Take a look at http://www.scantool.net/, they sell a low cost OBDII decoder which will read the codes, reset the MIL(Check Engine Soon) Light, and give you data to help you determine what's wrong (loose gas cap?). It runs on an older PC or Laptop which allows you to get on the fly readings(you read, someone else drives). It's well worth the $100, get together with your family and friends everybody chip in 20 bucks and an old laptop(386 is OK)and your the hit of the neighborhood. Only trouble is that each scantool does only one type of OBDII output. Ford, GM, and Chrysler/foreign cars are all different. There are other decoders that handle all three systems but their more expensive. Do the cost/benifit analysis to see if you want a single or universal system and how much the share will be. Do a Google search on ODBII, and pick the reader you want. Hope it was just the gas cap. 94 Get smart, get even and, even if you don't want to do the work yourself be informed. A few years ago I paid over $900 to have a mechanic tell me "Welp, I just don't know". I got mad, went on the internet and found the information on the Central Port Injector problems that Jimmy's had and fixed it myself in a couple days. Whenever possible I buy the parts and take them to the mechanic. The parts store will charge you a half to a third of what the mechanic will charge and all you have to cover is the labor. If you have the time check out www.Rockauto.com, they have the best prices on parts for cars from Acura to Yugo and several I've never heard of, ever heard of a Lada Samara. If you have the time for shipping you can get the great prices on quality parts. Hope this explanation helped, see ya 94
Answer:
I have the same problem with my 98 jimmy. Apparently there is a problem with the poppet valve in the fuel injectors. there's a tsb out, and actually a recall in california. the solution is to COMPLETLY redo the injector system about 1200$ is the estimate I received. however, i located which cylinder was misfiring and replaced the fuel injector (70$) seemed to fix it.
Answer:
When the Engine light started coming on last year in my 98 Jimmy I checked the manual and it says the gas cap is not on properly. I took it off and put it back on and after driving for a minute the light went out. So far this has happened to me 3 times. Well worth checking that before starting any work on it.

What would cause a Chevy Cavalier ETS check engine light to come on and the vehicle to run bad?
You need to have the computer scanned to find the reason why the engine light is on. Some large auto parts stores do this for free Normally the ETS check engine light has nothing to do with the engine running bad. The ETS is part of the traction system in the car. Depending on the age of the vehicle, you might want to disconnect the negative battery cable on the vehicle for a few minutes, and then hook back up. In older vehicles, it will reset the computer and the light should go off. It does this in a 1996 model. Worth a try.. ETS stands for Enhanced Traction System, and has nothing to do with emissions or cooling. But the computer will almost always de-activate the ETS when a problem is detected, and thus turn on the light. This is normal on the Cavalier. The Check Engine light does mean the emissions system has a problem. Have the computer scanned for the codes by someone who is able to interpret the codes and not just throw parts at the problem. This takes skill and knowledge, so take it to a professional, and don't waste money guessing.
How do you read the code when the check engine light of a 1996 Mercury Marquis has come on?
Go to auto zone and they will do it free.
The new ODB II system found on '96 and newer vehicles prevents you from reading the computer without the proper tool.
Advance Auto Parts will read the codes for free, other car parts places may also - of course in the hope you can buy an item there to fix it.
And the check and the part are cheaper than the dealership.
Here are a few. No/low voltage to spark plugs. O2 sensor malfunction. Malfunctioning CPU. Steve J. Mine was just a gas cap that was not screwed on correctly
Check engine light is on your 1994 Mercedes Benz c220 how to remove check engine light?
Dont be stupid! If the light is on, something is wrong, go get the codes read, find out what needs to be fixed and fix it or get it fixed. DO NOT REMOVE THE LIGHT BULB. Most any auto parts store will check the codes for you for FREE!!!!!
Most auto parts store won't check the codes on this specific year Mercedes because it doesn't fall into OBD-II coding. The diagnosis code reader most parts stores carry will only read 95 and up vehicles, not to mention extra software and/or adapters are generally required to access codes on Mercedes. So, unless you want to spend the money at a qualified mechanic or dealer or track down the expensive reader for yourself, you are out of luck. Time for some old-school investigative mechanic work.
