Easiest way to reset the Check Engine Light, is to go to a car parts store(easiest), or even the dealership(wait in line, might charge you, etc.), Use the OBD2 reader, make sure your vehicle is turned off completely, hook up the OBD2 reader, turn your key to ignition, but DO NOT start it. The OBD2 reader has a power on button, turn it on, let the diagnosis complete itself, and there is an option of "resetting" the Check Engine Light, or "Erase". Disconnect the battery for 20 minutes. This should reset the light. Of course if you do not repair the problem that caused the light to come on in the first place, it will just come back on.

i'll go to AutoZone to get free pcm code and then post that code in this forum. i'd some what similar problem.it was EGR valve,pretty sure....anyway get pcm code when CEL come on and let us know.

Hi,if you trawl through the other posts you will find many questions similar to yours.The engine icon is for "engine electronics",it means there is a fault or fault with a sensor,that is monitoring your systems.I maintain that the cheapest cure is to run the vehicle to a garage,not necessarily vauxhall,as long as they have the diagnostic kit.Phone up and ask.I use a local private garage. Most times it is a sensor problem rather than a component.For instance,my daughter's corsa started throwing in large amounts of petrol,making black smoke and choking to a stop at junctions.I guessed it was the coolant sensor but still had it confirmed on the computer.The sensor was telling the ECU that the engine was cold so it put in the extra fuel.

The check engine light (service engine soon) comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. I assume it has a diesel. Possibly the regeneration of the exhaust isn't working. It is going into the "limp home mode". Some name huh.

This is a generic O2 Sensor code, usually used on right bank

when the sterring wheel is turned sharply to park, the engine shuts off

if check engine light is flashing engine is misfiring It could be only a little hole on the gasoline pipe. cause the system must be pressurise and if is not the "check engine" will flash. the light only stays on if there is a drivibility problem it will flash if there is a slight problem and the computer in the truck will fix itself or at least try to goto a place to get the OBD II test ran on it and it should tell you whats wrong

Reset with an OBD2 scan tool, after the repair of whatever triggered the light.

The " check engine light" is by far one of the most misunderstood technological advances by the public. I am sure I will revise this as time goes on, as it is an in-depth understanding for the public. It is a warning light that is illuminated when there is a problem with the EMISSION SYSTEM only. Emission system being the pollution control system. Don't get a hard on against it as it is a good thing once you understand it. One point that was brought up a a recent meeting of technicians was that the amount of hydrocarbons is greater when the gas cap is left off than when the engine is running. Hydrocarbons are part of pollution emitted as gasoline evaporates. Going a step farther, one facet of the emission system is the "Evaporative" portion. This is when the fumes from the gasoline are leaking from the system into the outside air. This is one part of the emission system that can trigger a check engine light. I would say that about 7% of the vehicles that have a check engine light are the result of a loose or inadequate gas cap. But understand that many scenarios are possible with the "check engine light" The vehicle's powertrain computer (note that some vehicles have 17 different computers) will run a series of self-tests. They will only run under certain criteria. And they can be vastly different from manufacturer to manufacturer. Some self-tests are not run until preceding ones have run successfully. So if there is a problem in one particular area that is preventing another self test from running, you can have a situation where one problem is fixed, but another still exists. If you fix a problem and drive the car through a drive cycle that sets the monitor (or self test) the light will go off as it passes that criteria that triggered it in the first place. After 1996, the auto industry went to a idea called OBD II (on board diagnostics). This was to get all the manufacturers onto a similar plane for troubleshooting and powertrain control. While they still differ vastly, many corrections and adaptations were made for technicians to better fix the check engine light problems. Prior to this there were so many different and poor troubleshooting data from a check engine light problem that resolving the problem was much more difficult. Many early warning light of this nature were set to illuminate based on mileage. An Oxygen sensor was one of the things that were meant to be replaced when that mileage was hit. Disconnect positive battery terminal for approximately 10 minutes. If there is really no problem, light will not stay lit after start up. You will lose clock settings. I did this when mine came on and reported DTC 55 which is just an "end of list" indicator.

I had this problem. It drove me crazy for a while. My father previously owned the car and a professional mechanic serviced the car several times. He replaced the accelerator position sensor and whatever else he did I don't know. I don't blame the guy for not being able to fix it, as they only have so much time to figure car troubles out because they have other people to service. However, I am just someone who began to read a significant amount of information on the automobile: the engine, the brakes, the suspension, the sensors, ...the overall functioning. I did two gasket overhauls, with changing various parts to update the functioning (timing belt, plugs, several sensors, cooling system parts, charging system, pulleys, dented oil pan, oil pump, seals, valves on one of the cars, ...whatever I thought "hey, after 200,000 miles, it probably makes sense", I think it does; mind you, I did do specification checks on what needed checking with the cylinder heads). I still drive one of them (3000GT, may as well be a car you like), and a 2000 Eclipse (bought it brand new, and constantly kept up on the oil), which is now deceased (I won't go into the details), but I still pulled the engine (which still ran awesome, when I checked to see if it still ran <thank God, that would have been a total waste> and to replace this car....ta da >>> my old man gave me the 2000 Trooper. (I apologize for the long story, just want you to get an idea of what where I'm coming from)

With 168,000 miles, and no timing belt change, sparks pugs, literally nothing... I went ahead and did all that plus some other stuff merely because I was deep enough into the area, or had access, rather. When I pulled off the "common chamber" which is the intake manifold I began to clean it and was surprised by a large blot of built up crap in the port for the "MAP SENSOR!!!". It ruined the sensor itself which I did not rule out right away because I just wanted to see what would happen. I left the old one in but purchased another one just in case. Low and behold a few days went by, there were no mil or reduced power for those few days but bam they did come back on. I REPLACED THE OLD MAP WITH THE NEW AND NOW IT RUNS BEAUTIFULLY, NO PROBLEMOS. It's been a couple of months now, I can take it anywhere and not worry about the limp home mode preventing me from controlling the throttle and making me feel like the only idiot being able to reach that 10 MPH limit on the way back home.

I did purchase an ISUZU electronic copy of the manual (from HELM INC.) and it mentions so faintly about the correlation between the MAP reading and the throttle position. They mostly point to the TPS or Accelerator sensor predicament, so who'd of thought (I can only imagine that you can only publish a limited number of scenarios, not every possible one). The MAP reading also affects the EGR reading which was the initial check engine light cause. This was definitely what fixed mine.

ON A FINAL THOUGHT:

The automotive engine and the whole car itself is really really really a crazy marvel of invention. And though this world doesn't push people to realize this in its most direct way. after all, who has time right? people should make time to try and follow how it works and what keeps it working. It would save a lot of misery and aggravation.

The service engine or check engine light can be reset with a scan tool or by unhooking the battery. The light will return if the failure that caused the code is not repaired.

I am sorry but you don't and you will need one to clear codes after the repair.

PO341 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Range Problem

The PCM stores P0700 when it detects a code stored in the tcm. You need to check the transmission computer with a scan tool to know possible causes.
