If miraculously the pan gasket remains intact you do not need to worry about changing it. However being a 91 it will most likely break or be to hard to re seal and therefore need to be replaced.

Check the fuel pump relay. Its located on top of the radiator. Its a square box with a wide connector attached to it. Box measurement is approx. 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 4". I hope this help. There is an inertia switch. On my 1999 Taurus it was in the glove box area. If I remember right it is under the right kick panel.

No. 305's have small valves due to the 305's small bore. Large valve heads can't be used on the 305 because the valves will hit the cylinder block. 350 heads breathe MUCH better than 305 heads. Stick with the 350 heads.

Answeryes you can. if you have a stock intake manifold, which uses a quadrajet carb, you can use edelbrock part number #2696 which you can buy from summit racing (www.summitracing.com). it allows you to use an edelbrock performer square bore carb on the stock quadrajet manifold. for that motor i recommend the edelbrock #1406 which you can also get from summit.How do you replace timing cover gasket on 98 chevy truck 305 engine?
You need to loosen the oil pan enough to to get the cover in place. It's better to take the pan off and put it back on last with new seals.

if it has fuel injection i would check the o2 sensors.i had a gm that was running way to rich so i did a diagnostic check and found out the o2 sensors were bad sending wrong info to the computer and messing up the mixture.it ran fine under power but only at idle you could tell.my car was a 91.

get # 1 piston to tdc, # 1 is drivers side in very front, then remove distributer cap, and make sure rotor button is facing or pointing at the # 1 piston, if it is'nt lift out distributer rotate and reset it down so that it will point at piston # 1, repalce cap, the prong on the cap that faces the #1 piston will be youre # 1 on the cap then follow your firing order, 1-3-5-7 on the drivers side 2-4-6-8 on the passenger side. "FRONT TO REAR" on both sides, your caps firing order will be inbeded on the front of the intake, this method will get you operationaly very very close and will be able to run her, but if you want performance then put a timing light on her and set at 12 degrees past tdc "the very last mark or line on your timing plate on towords the left on the harmonic balancer wheels plate, now your haulin...........
Correction: After you get it on TDC of compression stroke for cylinder #1, Drop the distributor in with the rotor facing cylinder #1. Wire up the plug wires. Disconnect the ETC wire (tan/black wire to the right of the distributor coming out of the big wire loom). Hook up a timing light. Base timing is supposed to be 0°, but advance it 6-8° and see if it runs better. Some people go 12°. Also, the Vortec came out in the trucks in 1996. If you have the stock motor still it is not a Vortec. It is a center bolt valve cover motor with TBI.
