I had similar problem in cold weather. Parts contract when cold which may lead to failed electrical connections. My problem solved when replaced distributor cap/rotor and made sure bolts front and back were secured down

IT USUALLY MEANS ONE OF YOUR BULBS ON THE RIGHT SIDE ,EITHER FRONT OR REAR ARE BURNT OUT. At least one of the filaments is dying. You need a new bulb. The front bulb, rear bulb, and dash signal lights are connected by a physical timer. How this timer works is that they have two connectors on one side, that has electricity build up. After X milliseconds, enough electricity has been built up, and it arcs across, completing the circuit. This is when all your bulbs blinks. However since one of your bulbs have been "burned out", the electricity that SHOULD have been used to power the bulb, goes straight to the timer, and builds up the electricity faster resulting in a faster number of arcs, which is why you see more "blinks".

Would not start when turned on, then later started and would not turn off, would not respond to speed changes - absolutely nuts. Nobody could tell me what was most likely. Consulting forums like this one, I learned of the circuit board on the wiper motor. Easy to change. 10 minutes or so. I think it's called a "wiper module". Found many sources on line from $25 up. Dealer wanted at least $75 for it. Local parts house has them for $35 or so, no waiting. May be the answer. Dealer wanted $75 just to check it out.

to replace pinion bearing and seal you need to remove drive shaft.you then remove the pinion nut from pinion shaft. u usually need a pretty good rattle gun to remove this .then remove yoke from front of differential.u may need a puller but usuall tapping with hammer will loosen it. remove the bearing and replace with new one
then install seal and replace cover and ypke. replace pinion nut, fill with oil.replace drive shaft

It is not as hard as in most cars. I used to think you had to remove the whole dash board, like in most passenger cars. Not so with the Astro. I'm not saying it's a piece of cake or a 30 minute jog. You just don't have to remove as much of the inside of the van as you do with many cars. The best thing to do is to go to AutoZone.com and access their online Repair Guides.
