How do you replace the rust that's all the way around my Chevy Astro?
I have a 93 astro and I took news paper and crammed it all the way around then used a couple cans of great stuff (foam) and filled it in the rest of the way. shaved it down then smoothed a little bondo over the surface.
Where is the AWD Module on a 1999 Astro Cargo located?
crawl under the van directly beneath the drivers seat look up on the inside of frame rail. There will be several hyd lines going to the unit.
good luck
Actually from the Astro 1999 factory Shop manual have the "LT version "
The ABS (Antilock Brake System) valve /pump module with the hydraulic line is on the frame under the driver side.
The ABS electronic control module is under the drivers seat in the bulge under the carpet
The AWD (the All Wheel Drive ) Module (silver case with 2 connectors, one a black and one an orange ) is "in" the drivers side kick panel behind the Parking Brake Assembly" 4 bolts hold the assembly in place after disconnecting the release cable...
Fwiw a common problem is the metal U channel that large amount of wiring runs directly under the carpet here by the parking brake and people not putting wiring and connectors back into channel so the wires chafe on the metal edge of the channel with left foot pressure and cause intermittent shorts
The airbag control module is on the passenger side..

How do you replace front shocks 1993 Chevrolet Astro van?
I went to AutoZone.com. They have detailed instruction. I have a 98 Astro van. They didn't have the repair proceedure for 98. I checked an earlier year, 93 I think, and found the same setup. The problem I'm having is getting the old nut loose that holds the shock rod to the upper control arm. The only way to keep the rod from turning, is with a tiny wrench on the flat spot on the top of the rod. Not nearly enough leverage to loosen a nut that hasn't been off in a long time. I'm beginning to consider torch. Any ideas?

Chevy astro drivers side window not working?
OK, This is my first time posting a question and I thought it was like an email deal..... My 1999 Chevy astro drivers side door window works intermittently. Sometimes it works fine, and sometimes it only works a little at a time. It usually doesn't have a problem going down, but when I go to roll it up, it stalls, and I have to wait (for a minute or so) to hit the button to advance it some more before it quits again. Anyone have an idea on what is causing this?
I am having the same problem with my 2000 Astro. The window rolls down fine but occasionally it will not roll up. It seems if I turn off the engine and then restart, then I can get the window to roll up. (Or this is just a coincidence.)
Is there a fuse for the rear hatch?
Yes, many vehicles have a fuse dedicated to the rear hatch or liftgate, which controls its electrical functions such as the opening mechanism and lights. You can typically find the fuse in the vehicle's fuse box, which may be located under the dashboard or in the engine compartment. It's important to consult your vehicle's owner manual for the specific location and rating of the fuse related to the rear hatch. If the hatch is not functioning, checking and replacing the fuse could be a helpful troubleshooting step.

How do you check the voltage regulator?
Unless the problem is the generator or alternator, in which case the same symptoms will appear. Nice try, but no cigar.
That is not entirely correct, you would be correct if reading the charging system voltage on a 12v system.
On my 4wheel 350 bruin it is around 10v and the xl250 1982 is around 8v, to check the generator/stator you need to read AC voltage and after regulator you need to check DC voltage, most people use the headlight check to see if the regulator is working fine, imo get the manual for the correct reading/maintenance procedures or elaborate on the question with the model and year of the vehicle in question.

What size rear end and what gear ratio in 1994 astro van?
There are four ways to find a ratio.
1 A dealer can normally tell from the vin number.
2 There are normally tags or labels on the axle that have part number, gear ratio, and fluid requirement
info.
3 You can count how many times you have to turn the driveshaft to get one complete turn of the tires.
4 You can divide the number of teeth on the ring gear and divide by number of teeth on the pinion.
Mine was doing the same thing. A friend told me that he changed his ignition switch and it fixed it. I bought the ignition switch (about $80). Now I can't figure out how to get it out. Got some very small star head bolts in it and also looks like the key switch needs to come out but can't figure it out.
How do you fix a rear hatch on a 3 part door1996 Chevy Astro that only releases on one side?
i am sure i can manually release the latch if i could find the diagram for the lock. can anyone help me with this. this is a 1993 Chevy astro van
never mind on my question. here is what you do: take the inner handle off of the hatch and pry the hatch panle away as far as you can without brreaking it and feel for the rod that operates the locking mechanism and pull it and the door will open now all you have to do is put the rod back in the actuator. job complete
(speaking from experience) It was probably caused by the nylon retaining clip getting old and brittle. You should replace it or use a substitute such as a exterternal retaining ring, tape or something you can cram over the end of the rod in order to prevent the actuator rod from falling out again. While you are there you should inspect the other rod retainer and act accordingly.

Vacuum hose that runs over the thermostat housing is leaking at that location.
Change water-pump 97 Chevy astro van?
Remove Fan Shroud
Remove Belt
Remove Cooling Fan
Drain Radiator
Remove Radiator Bottom Hose from Water Pump
Unbolt Pump from Engine Block
It is a messy job but doable in 2-3 hours.
Hardest part for me was get the fan off.
adding to answer
I agree on the fan and thermostat was going to be hard.. actually I did not try to remove fan/thermostat from pump.. you must have the special tool or it real bear to get off.. I just remove the hoses from water pump, (there are three) remove the 4 bolts holding the pump and after doing all the above stuff, fan shroud etc and took the whole pump with fan to the local auto parts store that have a machine shop attached to it.. (call to make sure they can remove the fan before making the trip out, and forget auto zone tools they are not the correct ones.)
I was not there when they removed the fan assemble but could see torch marks on the large nut where it was heated up no doubt to help remove it.
Because i got the new pump at the auto supply shop they did not charge for removing the fan assembly. whole process took about 4.5 hrs that included time to get fan removed, buy new pump etc
I also replace the lower water hose, belt tensioner, and idler pulley at same time. The belt was recently replaces but could tell tensoiner and idler were original and with 147K miles thought it was as good idea to replace them. also replace dex cool with new.. actually did not see any buildup of slug etc in old pump, hoses or at engine block ports..
just my $144 dollars worth and 4 hrs.. at repair local shop the cost would have been close to 500+ bucks..
