This problem can be an expensive one to fix because the whole heater box has to come apart. There is a plastic "hinge" that controls the opening and closing of the door. It is easily broken and jams up. The whole assembly has to be replaced. It's not an easy fix.

it works by vacuum .if it is not working more often than not a vacuum hose is rotted. this one is hard to get at . it runs from the top of the engine to a round black ball down by the passenger front tire .start by finding the ball [a little bigger than a soft ball ]and trace the small hose back to the tee connector under the dog house [engine cover] i have used small gas hose and silicone and it works great.hope it helps and good luck.

I live in Texas. I went to a mechanic who works on my type of cars and he quoted me $ 300.00 to change the whole set.
So I spent around $ 600.00 and change.
If you go to the dealer you will spend lots of money for sure.
Shop around online and you can find good deals on many parts and have a mechanic put them on for you. You can save money like that. I did!

Why does my 95 pathfinder start idle nice but when the gas peddle is pressed it stalls?
My 1996 Pathfinder would start and idle fine but when the accelerator was pushed down the engine would stall and surge (at about 2000 RPM). The problem was a broken wire on the connector to the air flow mass sensor. When the connector was removed entirely the engine failed in the same way. The left most wire was the one broken of three wires, when I repaired this connection all was good. This connector carries both air intake volume info and air temperature info.

What do you do for a hood that won't open on 99 astro van?
You might try rolling up all windows, then pull the hood release and slam the driver's door closed fairly hard. Sometimes the compression of the air within the vehicle will pop the hood open. If it works, you should spray the hood locking mechanism with WD-40 or some penetrating oil. I have to spray my 2002 Astro several times a year to keep it working properly.
Why would passenger side power window go up but not down on my 1990 astro van?
A faulty power window switch or faulty wiring. The motor works in either direction (there is only one motor per window), so it's not the motor but the wiring or the window switch. Unless the motor control is damaged, that is. Check the switch for continuity first, then check the continuity of the wiring. It should. You'd probably want to look at the fasteners in both vans and measure the distances. In ours a seat from a 1995 astro fit into a 2001 with no problems.
