Where are the spark plugs in a 2001 Chevy Tracker?
i have a 2000, and mine are on top of the block underneath the black plastic thingys...they do not look like traditional plug wires...you have to unscrew the two bolts at either side and pull them out...but CAREFULL these things are expensive to replace! **The "top of the block" is more like the valve/cam cover, and the "black plastic thingys" are actually mini electronic ignition coil packs.
Where can you find a timing diagram for a Chevy Monte Carlo 1994-1996 3.4l DOHC V6 engine?
I have the diagram that I got off ALLDATA. "GM does not provide a timing mark diagram for belt installion without using the special tool(s) listed in the Timing Belt service procedure." But I did mine without and only used two vice-clamps to hold the front to cams in line and the back two. Line those marks up and the Crank's mark will need to be set about at "2 o'clock" its wierd but that's how they are made.
Whats the valve lash clearance for 99 Chevy Tracker 1.6?
.006" intake
.007" exhaust
Standard screw and locknut adjusters. Set the clearance when the engine is cold. Be sure to set each valve with cylinder at TDC. (top dead center) I suggest replacing the valve cover rubber gasket when adjustig the valves, as they do get old and can crack/leak.
How do you replace a sway bar link on a 2003 Chevy Tracker?
First spray nut with wd40 the sway link is an l shape ball and socket unit with two rubber bushing and nut connected to the top of the frame. The link kit cost $16 each at major parts store i put the car up on ramp and removed and replaced the side that was broken in 20 mins.
== == Sounds like a defective head light switch to me. Have a mech check it with a curcuit tester to see which contacts are not live.

What is the power button on the drive function of the 2001 tracker?
I read that it is to give extra power when you're passing another vehicle or climbing a hill. I honestly never use mine because I don't think it makes a difference.
Why does number two 15 amp fuse keep blowing in your 2001 Chevy Tracker?
Fuses That "Blow" Repeatedly
Without being able to "hands on" troubleshoot the circuit served by the repeatedly blowing fuse, none of us can identify the specific defect which is causing your problem.
Therefore, the following generic answer can be applied to any electrical circuit, whether in a vehicle, or in a building, whether direct current [DC], or alternating current [AC].
Fuses [and Circuit Breakers] are safety devices designed and installed in electrical circuits TO PROTECT the conductors [wires] and other components from short circuit conditions and/or overload conditions which cause an extremely large flow of electrical current [measured in Amperes], which causes overheating of the conductors that results in damage to the insulation and the conductors.
And in a worst case scenario, the probability of a FIRE which could destroy the vehicle, house, or other structure in which the circuit is located.
When a fuse or Circuit Breaker [and replacement fuses, or repeatedly "tripping" Circuit Breakers] "blow," especially if it happens repeatedly, is an indication of an UNSAFE CONDITION in that circuit, usually a short.
The fuse or circuit breaker is doing what it was designed, intended, and installed to do; that is to protect the conductors and components of the circuit which it serves.
The proper "fix" for this issue is for a qualified technician, who knows what he or she is doing, to troubleshoot the involved circuit, find and identify the defect, and make proper repair [s], BEFORE replacing the fuse again [with the properly sized fuse or before resetting a circuit breaker].
Some ignorant few people will suggest installing a larger fuse or breaker to solve the problem, BUT that will only increase the hazard, not correct it.
Do not follow "bad" advice by installing a larger fuse in a misguided attempt to correct the problem. To install an oversized fuse would almost guarantee damage to the wiring and the probability of an electrical system fire.
How do you change brake pads 99 suburban?
It depends on the type of vehicle that you have. You have to remove the caliper which is what holds the brake pads and squeezes them against the rotor (the part the wheel bolts to) so that the friction stops the vehicle. Different manufacturers use different methods to mount the caliper. GM uses 2 bolts to hold the caliper in place using either a torx head bolt or a 3/8 hex bolt. Some Fords use two expandable pins to hold them in place that you can drive out of their slot with nothing more than a screwdriver or punch. After you get the caliper off you have to push the piston back into the caliper or the new pads won't fit in the space and go back over the rotor. Sometimes you can do this with a large pair of channel lock type pliers or with a special tool made for it but it has to be done. If the rotor has been scraping the metal plate of the old pads and and/or has grooves in it to any extent at all then they need to be "turned" on a brake lathe to true the surfaces or the new brakes will wear out very rapidly. If the rotors are severly worn and too thin then they will have to be replaced also. Best thing to do is talk to your guys at the auto parts store and they can explain that procedure to you.
How do you change brakes on f-250 when they are grinding?
If they are grinding, chances are the rotors are shot too. I just bought rotors and pads. $400.00 Canadian. Push out the retainers, top, bottom, pull off pads. Remover rotors. Your new rotors should come with bearing races already installed, there should be in front and one in behind. It would be advisable at this time to clean and repack your bearings, (with bearing grease!) install the new rotors and old bearings. If your not sure if your bearings are worn or not, you SHOULD at this time have someone look at them or just replace them. cause you have them out anyway AND it would suck to have to spend more money for new rotors if the bearings went. you will need a significant amount pressure to close the brake pistons enough to get your new pads back on the truck. once that is done. put the retainers back in and pump your brakes till you feel adequate pressure and pedal height. Then slowly go for a test drive to make sure they work.
Where is the radio fuse in a Chevy Tracker?
Flash light above the left foot area. Read carefully the labels of each. It is typed clearly and 3 spare fuses are standard. First rethink the cause of the blown fuse before replacing the appropriate amp rated fuse. It is the small newer style. Not as small as the new Toyota equivalent.
How do you tow a 95 Geo Tracker 4x4 automatic?

Can a 1995 Geo Tracker engine that was blown up be replaced with a 1986 Suzuki Samurai engine?
Probly yes, Check out the moter mounts and see if they match up. One thing I live in Tennessee and we have emissions checks yearly and when you mix an older engine in a newer body IT SKREWS EVERYTHING UP! These mental giants doing the test are all confused and it becoomes a real hassel every year. Just somthing you may not have thought of, good luck
I don't think you would want to do this swap. You will loose about 40 horsepower and the wiring will not match up.
down grading motors is illegal in usa.
but if you apply you must make it meet the 95 standard.
how are you going to do that.
how are you going to put a 1.3l motor in to a 1.6L EFI system.
yes you can swap it all motor and harnesses and Ecu , BUT IT WILL fail smog.
Unless the test it and you put a new Cat on it and tune it perfect and not tell them it is swapped and then run on the IM240 dyno smog and accidentally pass.
if ,if, if , if.
we just put a new 95 in a 86 sammi here.

up grades are legal.
older cars have bad emissions. and moving fossil motor to newer bodies is illegal.
what legal and what you can get away with , 2 diff things.
Where is the egr valve on a 1998 Tracker?
On the rear of the engine block next to the firewall about 1/2 way down. You can see the 10mm bolts from above, (at least the top one), and access them with your left hand using either a 1/4" drive, or box end wrench.
The lower bolt is 1 1/2" directly below the top one. Remember to buy the gasket in advance.
After unbolting the EGR valve, if you are re-using it, make sure all of the old gasket material is off of the mating surface. I used emery cloth held onto a piece of wood, and just rubbed the valve across it until the gasket material was gone.
I like the metal gasket for a $couple more online.

Cannot open rear hatch on Chevrolet tracker?
I'm having the same problem on my 1999. Going to remove the inside panel and see what i can find.
I removed the inside panel on my 1994 and was able to move the bar running up and down. I was also able to move the lock bar and with the help of WD/40 able to open the rear hatch. The spring that resets the handle is not working or is worn-out.
How To set timing chain 1994 Chevrolet Geo Tracker?
There is no timing chain. They use a belt. This should be replaced about every 60,000 miles. I suggest you go to one of the local chain auto parts houses and purchase a Haynes Manual. It will shows drawings and photos of most of the work you will do in your own shop on this vehicles. You may fine one on E-Bay for less than the stores.
It is not a big problem but you have to get the gears lines up correctly. Been too long since I replaced one on a 94 for me to remember where the marks are and how they should be set. Not too much trouble IF you do not turn anything when you remove the old belt. I suggest you check the manual and line them up with the old belt still on.
How do you replace brake pads on 1999 Chevy Tracker?
Remove the wheel. Unbolt the caliper from the back, i believe there are two bolts that hold it in place on the tracker. Make sure you remember the placement of the 2 bolts, sometimes they are not identical and you do not want to accidentally mix them up.
Slide the caliper up off the brake disk.
Remove the old pads, check which pad has the "squealer" ( a small metal piece that rubs against the disk to make you aware of a worn pad.)
With the pads removed, use an 8" C clamp to compress the cylinder into the caliper, keep compressing cylinder until it is all the way in the caliper.
Then, simply put the new pads back in the caliper, making sure the inner and outer match the ones that were removed (look for that "sqealer").
Slide the caliper back over the disk and put the 2 bolts back in place, again make syre they go right back where they belong, do not mix them up.
Tighten bolts.
When all the pads have been replaced, pump the brakes several time, with the engine running to adjust them. They will feel squishy at first but will firm up with a few pumps.
Check the front brakes first, they tend to wear long before the rear brakes and probably do not need changing yet.
Good luck
Not to insult anyones intelligence or pose a stupid question but I have in the past forgotten to fully fill the radiator with coolant after doing a job. As in your question the Head Gasket was replaced ( I assume recently) well in doing so the cooling system was probably flushed and possibly not fully filled.
If this is the case then it would suck up what is in the tank until it is completely filled to a level that is sufficient. Now if you are filling the reservoir on a daily basis and it is "disappearing" then you truly do have a mystery and I am stumped.
I hope this might have helped a bit.
My BMW is doing the same thing I believe it is a bad light switch.
