Clutches and Flywheels

Clutches and flywheels are parts of a car’s transmission, enabling drivers to accelerate and change gears. They come in a variety of combinations based on the driver’s needs and quality of the ride.

Where is the clutch master cylinder on a 1999 V6 Chevy Camaro?

It should be, if standing in front of the car, to the right of the master cyclinder. Driver's side against the firewall.

New clutch has been installed still have noise at idle it sounds like throw-out bearing what else could it be?

The throw out bearing will only make noise when you press the clutch pedal. If the clutch is new, the throw out bearing is a required replacement in a clutch job. Sounds like a bad pilot bearing. Not enough info in the question.

I had the same problm and it was input shaft bering, AND the counter shaft bering. Replace them and sloved the problm.

If my truck won't go how do i tell if it is the clutch gone out or the manual transmission?

First off can you feel it shift through all the gears while off (not running). Second off while running can you shift through the gears or does it grind while trying to shift through them. If it grinds when you try to shift then your clutch is shot. Good luck

Is it possible for motor oil to leak on your fly wheel causing your clutch to slip?

yes ! either seal from crankshaft (engine)or gearbox drive-shaft seal on bearing can wear out. if so oil will spray around inside bell-housing and will get on to clutch plate/pressure plate and flywheel - replace clutch (suggest clutch kit -clutch-plate/pressure-plate and thrust bearing) you MUST also replace seal or is WILL happen again. also check engine oil and gearbox oil levels - it came from somewhere!!

How easy is it to fit a clutch in 306 pug?

I have just replaced a clutch on a 806 svdt and it was easy with the haynes manual but i did it at home and the clutch cable on the cars made after 1994 are self adjusting but this is only while the original clutch is slowly wearing out. when you replace the clutch you effect the cable and clutch position and cause the clutch cable not to self adjust because it doesn't adjust if there is no resistance.this can only be achieved by a trained technician.I had to pay 90 for a mechanic to come out and do this for me.I also had to buy alot of new washes, bolts and seals to replace the old ones.look into how much it will cost to have it done by a local mechanic before you attempt to do it yourself as they will be 30 to 40 percent cheaper than a peugeot dealer and you will save even more if you buy the clutch kit yourself first.good luck

Haynes manual a must. Problems found when trying to remove the Allen bolts that hold gear box to engine. Allen keys too springy and risk rounding the heads, buy a set that fit a 1/2" drive ratchet especially an 8mm. Also difficult to remove right hand drive shaft from intermediate bearing. Bottom ball joints held in again by Allen bolts, very poor access to get a key in. Mine were rounded so had to grind them off and replace with height tensile nuts and bolts. Undo the front drive shaft nuts at the hubs before you take the wheels off, they are so tight. Good luck if you do attempt it.Pete

Why does my Craftsman garden tractor stop running when I release the clutch-brake?

Either the machine does not "know" or the clutch/brake switch is bad. Either way it is a safety switch

How do you adjust the clutch on a 1966 Impala?

There is a couple of nuts on the clutch rod and they jam or tighten against each other.Loosen the jam nut back off about 6 turns and then backoff (shorten) the other so that the travel of the rod is less. when you slightly depress the clutch you want 1 inch of play before you feel any resistance. when you have the 1 inch then tighten the 2 nuts against each other.

How do you adust the clutch on a 2003 Honda shadow spirit 750?

turn screw or thumb nut in or out until there is only a small amount of play in clutch lever when siting in rest position. pull handle it should move just a little befoe cable moves if this doesn't work you my have to take out the play at the lower adjustment at lower clutch lever. there should always be a little play this tells you your clutch is fully ingaged when handle is released

How do you adjust clutch screw adjustment on kenworth?

I'm going to assume you already know where it is, so, once you have it where you can get to it, you depress the clutch fully. You'll need a 5/8" socket and ratchet or a wrench (the ratchet and socket is preferable - 3/8" drive with a long handle would be the way to go) and a small prybar. Put the ratchet and socket on the bolt, push the back of the ratchet with the prybar until it pushes it, then you turn whichever direction you need to go... "On" if you need more free play, "Off" if you need less.

How do you bleed the hydraulic clutch on a 1993 Cavalier?

Manual Master/Clutch Bleed ProcessHello I went through this process many times. I have a 1993 Chevy Cavalier and I replaced the clutch - which was a pain! After that process I determined: 1)There Master and Slave Cylinder configuration for the clutch. 2) Any air in this configuration had to be eliminated. The Master Cylinder is located by the firewall on the drivers side of the car and the Slave Cylinder is located right on the clutch itself. There two bolts that hold the Master Cylinder need to be loosened to the point where it can almost be removed.

IMPORTANT - you need to keep the Slave Cylinder well below the Master Cylinder to complete this process.

Now here's the process: 1) Remove the Slave Cylinder completely from the clutch housing (It's self contained and - hopefully - won't leak air into the system) 2) Now open the Master Cylinder and check the fluid level and during the ENTIRE PROCESS - ensure the fluid level does not sink down to the point where air can get into the system. So you might want to over fill the reservoir some. 3) There should be a rod which should be hard to push but It should compress with some/alot of effort and you might have to do this process multiple times. 4) Now keeping the Slave Cylinder well below the Master Cylinder compress the rod - slowly - into the Slave Cylinder looking for air bubbles in the Master Cylinder Reservoir.

NOTE - Now hopefully you understand the object is to remove all the air from the Master / Slave Configuration.

5) Once you are sure there is no air in the system make sure the Master Cylinder Fluid Level is correct and place the rubber piece into the Master Cylinder and screw the Master Cylinder on tight. Then re-tighten the Master Cylinder to the firewall.

6) Then re-attach and tighten the Slave Cylinder to the Clutch Assembly and re-assemble the remainder on the car you had to remove to accomplish this task.

IMPORTANT - Make sure the transmission fluid level is correct.

7) Start the car and press the clutch to the floor and hold 12 seconds or more then release the pressure on the clutch (this allows hydraulic pressure to build up).

NOTE - I had to preform this process three time before all the air was removed from the Master / Slave Clutch Clyinder Configuration.

GOOD LUCK :-)

OK YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE THERE IS NO LEAK,IF NONE YOU WILL HAVE A PERFECT CLUTCH YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE TWO PUMPS OR CYLINDERS ARE VIRGINS AND NEVER BEAT THEM UP WITH THE FEET,IF ITS ALL INSTALLED AND NO LEAK FIND A WAY TO DISENGAGE SLAVE CYLINDER FROM THE FORK ROMOVE BOLTS BUT NOT THE FLUID PIPE ,OK AFTER DISENGAGE LOSSEN THE BLEEDING PUT SOME FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR THEN BUY YOU A CRAFTSMAN BRAKE BLEEDER OR MYTYVAC HANDPUMP THEN START BLEEDING IT FROM THE TOP NOT BOTTOM,BOTTOM YOU LOOSE ALITTLE POWER,MAKE SURE VACUUM BLEED IT UNTIL THE VACUUM PUMP RESERVOIR IS IS FULL IN LIQUID BY BLEEDING,THATS IT THEN CHECK IT UNTIL THERE IS NO MORE BUBBLES,THE REASON YOU WILL FILL UP THE RESERVOIR OF THE VACUUM PUMP SO THAT YOU ARE VERY SURE ALL FLUID IS WASH OUT AND VERY NEW FLUID IN THE SYSTEM,MAKE SURE YOU GET IT RIGHT ONCE BECAUSE IF YOU BLEED IT AND BLEED IT THERE WILL BE NO WAY YOU GET THIS THING NICE I THINK WHAT I MEAN BY THAT IS YOU DONT WANT TO BURN THE SLAVE PUMP AS MUCH IF YOU CAN PREVENT ITAFTER THAT ITS SHOULD BE AN OK CLUTCH, I
