Where is the crank position sensor located in a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 liter V8 petrol?
And a pain in the butt to get to without having the jeep on a lift. make sure when reinstalling the sensor that the wires are not coming into contact with your exaust manifold or the exaust pipes. they will get hot and melt down to the wire and ground out causing the sensor to fail.
My Personal Experience
For Grand Cherokee Jeep Limited 1999/2000, the CKP sensor is located on the right side (driver side) at the end of the engine block when you open the hood and facing the engine block..the sensor sits on the bell housing..It has its cable connector end pulled all the way to the left side of the engine block and connected there, so you may have to first locate and grab that connector cable end, near the oil filter at that left side at the end of the engine block , and then you feel and trace the connector cable all the way through the back of the engine block back to the CKP sensor on the right end side of the engine block in order to easily locate the sensor. whew!
Now, I have to warn you that its very difficult to replace the CKP sensor no matter what anyone tells you.. because you will have to lift the car axle up and get underneath the car to have some access to the sensor..even with that.. you will need foot long screwdrivers, 1/8 wrench , handy light for illumination and all kinds of difficulties in avoiding mutliple cables along the way in order to get to the sensor and unscrew it out..and that's not all.. its very difficult to put a new one back in too once you remove the sensor!..you may have to glue bolts/screws to your wrench and screwdrivers to make a fix back..they keep falling off due to odd angle of access to where you need to screw them in....I tried to do it..It was very difficult..
My suggestion, don't spend your valuable time trying to do this replacement part..just order online your CKP sensor ($55) and get a freelance mechanic to fix it for you..labor cost is around $70 and it only takes about 45mins for a good professional to replace the sensor.. much easier and faster that way.
Where is the camshaft position sensor in 1998 kia sportage?
The cam shaft position sensor is located right behind the exhost cam by the fire wall. It is held by two 10 mm bolts, one on each side of the sensor. If you got the hood up and looking at the engine the cam that is on the right hand is the exhost cam. To get to the CPS you have to remove the intake and cam top cover.
Where is crank shaft position sensor on a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee?
Do you have a 4.0l (6 cyl) or a 4.7l (V-8). I just changed one on a 2001 with the 4.7L v-8. It is located on the passengers' side behind the starter. on the 4.0 it is located on the top of the bell housing on the drivers side.
Can you drive your car with camshaft sensor is bad?
Well basically you can "do" what ever you want, but if you wanted to be on the safe side I'd suggest you fix the car first.
