How do you replace the power window motor on ford ranger?
The answer will cost you a commitment to post the next thing you can't find on here but figure out yourself. Stop reading if that is too much to ask. :)
Pull the three screws from the door panel. Pull the door panel up and off. It has a couple of hooks at the bottom that will come out when you pull the whole thing up. Don't worry about pulling the wiring loose just pull a couple of the plastic retainers out so you have more room to work. Pull the sound insulation (starting at the bottom) loose about a foot up and tape it out of the way. Swing the door panel back toward the rear of the door and hook the top on the door lock. Remove two of the 5/16ths screws holding the motor on. One through a small hole, and the other through a triangle already cut in the door frame. The third is a trick to get to. You can use a small wrench from the bottom but I drilled a hole in the door frame so I could get a socket in. Reach in and pull the motor loose by shaking it. It is still attached by a rivet that you'll have to drill out (punch out the center pin first) but pull it loose so you know which rivet to drill (lower left hand).
Good luck and don't forget your commitment.
Unfortunately you could have one of several problems. Generally all window power goes through one fuse, but check your fuse box and make sure you don't have a blown fuse. Otherwise, it is likely a bad motor or bad wiring to the motor. You will have to strip off the decorative trim and door cover to access; but even them they aren't always that easy to get to. Consider taking it to an auto electrician or find a mechanic that does electrical.
What needs replacing if the passenger window just fell down in the door of a 2005 Honda Element?
This is a common problem - the "power window regulator" has a plastic clip that can break - you can't buy the clip by itself, you'll need to replace the entire regulator.
How do you remove and install a window regulator assembly for a 1996 Saturn on the driver side?
I'm about to do the same procedure for a '95 SL. From what I've heard, both the inside and outside door panels must be removed, 4 large rivets need to be drilled out, the new assembly installed using new rivets. (Don't forget to purchase these.) Speciality rivet tool, from what I gathered. Parts approx 100.00, labor = ? Know more soon...

Why won't the left side windows go down or up on my 1999 jeep grand Cherokee?
I have the same problems with my Ford Taurus and my mechanic said that during rainy weather water can get inside the door panels and short-out the motor. The motors in the rear window panels are cheapies in most cases. You may get lucky and the windows may start going up or down the next time you try (mine do.) Either that or see your mechanic. If you are mechanically inclined or have a friend that is, the best thing to do is take the door panels off and fix the problem. Good luck Marcy
Tools required
10 mm socket and 3" extension
#2 Phillips screwdriver
putty knife
wire cutter
door panel removal tool - available from any auto parts store
straight blade screwdriver
Estimated time to replace 1 1/2 to 2 hours
Cost of new actuator AND motor - $50 on eBay - 11/07
This procedure assumes a new unit will be installed.
1 - remove trim piece from around the door handle by prying it out along the top and front edges. Once loosened, it comes unhinged from the back edge.
2 - remove the Phillips head screw from metal bracket, that is revealed after removing the trim piece
3 - pry the inside light assembly from the door panel and remove the bulb socket from the housing
4 - pry the door panel from the frame using a panel removal tool by starting at the bottom (this GM design is greatly improved from the old assembly system - ie: 94 Chevy Caprice) and releasing the 7 plastic studs from the frame.
5 - Remove the 2 mounting bolts for the rear door controller and disconnect the cables.
6 - use a putty knife and door removal tool to remove the plastic vapor barrier.
7 - reach inside the door and locate the cable that is attached to the bottom of the lift mechanism and then cut it.
8 - push the window class to the full UP position (this will locate it horizontally and vertically) and tape it in place.
9 - near the top of the sheet metal there will be 2 openings (1 square and 1 round). When the glass is in the full up position, there will be (2) 10 mm bolts in view. Loosen these bolts which will open the rubber coated clamps on the bottom of the glass. The lift mechanism will free fall to the bottom position when these bolts are loose.
10 - remove the window lift motor plug and (3) 10 mm nuts that hold the lift mechanism in place and remove through the opening at the front of the inner door sheet metal. It will take a little bit of turning and twisting to remove the unit.
11 - loosen (do not remove) the 2 bolts for the window clamps on the new unit before installing.
12 - make sure the new unit is not in the full up position before installing.
13 - install the new lift mechanism in the door and tighten the (3) 10 mm mounting nuts.
14 - connect the power plug into the new lift motor
15 - temporarily connect the rear door controller, turn on the ignition and slowly raise the new lift mechanism using the window up switch on the driver's door.
16 - when the lift is in the full up position, tighten the window glass clamps using the same access holes as when you removed the glass clamps.
17 - slowly cycle the window down and up to make sure it doesn't bind
18 - disconnect the read door controller and reverse the process for assembly
19 - make sure the rear door light socket and bulb are not trapped behind the plastic.

Step 4 Improvement.
After an hour of online research and three phone calls to different mechanics we came to the conclusion that the GMC "J" tool is worthless and a waste of $10. It is suppose to help remove the push bolts that attach the side panel however with a flat head screwdriver and some brute force you can pull the door panel loose from the door. Start in the bottom right corner slide the screwdriver along until you find the first of 7 plastic bolts once located place one hand on each side of the bolt and pull and it will snap off, do same with the other 7 and lift the panel upward to expose the interior of the door.

Step 17 Improvement
One cause of binding is the cable not winding properly around the drum. To see whether that is the case, you may need to remove the lift mechanism, connect the power plug, carefully hold it (for instance by the motor), and cycle it. The problem can be fixed by slightly bending the end of the rail and/or the spring that is misfeeding the cable to the drum.
Check to see if it has come unplugged. There is also the possibility that the connector got damaged, and there is a tear in the copper foil. If so, some parts stores carry a repair kit that may fix the problem. About $9.00
Remove the door panel and inspect the tracks, and the gear. If the glass came off of track the gear might have stripped.
AnswerI just fixed my 98 grand Cherokee with drivers side window movement problems. there was dirt in the window actuator track and pivots. the grease was all dry. i lubed it up with LPS (a kind of spray lube. white lithium should be good for this too). with the vehicle running ( so i got good power, & didnt drain battery,) i ran the window up and down ( a lot) adding more lube every now and then. it is good now. hope this helps.I have the same problem with my 1999 Cherokee and after removing the door panel found that the plastic bracket on the window regulator is broken off. I purchased a repair kit from Steiger performance. The kit is for Cherokee not grand Cherokee. The link is http://www.steigerperformance.com/
How do you change fuse for power windows on a dodge stratus?
Find the fuse in the fuse box that goes to the power windows. (it should be labeled on the lid or some where near.) then once you know which type of fuse to get. It is probably a 15 or 20. Go to a car parts store like checkered or advanced auto parts and buy a matching fuse. Then just switch the old with the new. Your best bet is to bring the old fuse in so your sure to get the same kind.

What would cause the power windows to not work on a Chrysler LeBaron?
A few things can cause this. Start with the simple and troubleshot your way to the more difficult. CHECK THE FUSES. It could be as simple as a blown fuse. If you find a blown fuse, be sure to replace it with the correct Amperage fuse. MASTER SWITCH IN OFF POSITION. Many cars come with a master switch, or child lock-out switch. This is typically found in reach of the driver, near the driver's window switch. MASTER SWITCH BAD. The master switch could be bad. Check for power to and from the switch. This step also continues on to the last posibility, a wiring problem. Since your question implies all the windows are not functioning. If all the other test prove to be OK, then it is likely a wiring problem. Checking the wiring at the master switch will shed some light on this. Good luck, and hope it's the fuse.
How do you replace the passanger side power mirror on a 1999 Saturn SC2?
Why would Jeep Grand Cherokee power windows not work?
Typically the power windows are protected along with the power sunroof if so equipped with a 30 amp circuit breaker. This would be located in the main fuse box on the passenger side of the dash, found by opening the passenger door and looking at the side of the dashboard. These circuit breakers don't tend to fail like a fuse does but its an inexpensive thing to try and just plugs in like a fuse. If that fails and all windows are inoperative you will need to start trouble shooting the wiring which is an almost impossible task unless you have a circuit tester and a wiring diagram for your specific make, model and year. They changed the wiring a lot over the years so there's no specific answer without more specific information about your jeep.
Your best bet may be to take this to a shop that is known for being good with electrical issues and just biting the bullet on cost.
