windows name
I posted this question to share the answer: if your pen drive was USB2, and you incorrectly disconnected it (withouth using the taskbar icon), you may have damaged it. Many of those damaged pen drives still works ok if they are connected with USB 1 interface. try disabling USB2 in your bios, start your operative system, and if still not detected your pen drive, try making OS detect new hardware or hardware changes (to crange usb2 drivers to usb1 drivers). This trick rescue many electrically broken pendrives.
How do you find out why your passenger side power window wont roll up on a 2003 Chevy Malibu LS?
First of all makesure that both the master switch on the drivers side and the passenger sides switch both fail to operate the window.Listen closely for any sounds while activating the switches. If you do hear sounds or vibrations chances are the rollers have come off the track or some kind of binding. The next big step is to remove the door trim panel and get to the motor itself and check the connection with a voltmeter, if the meter shows 12 volts at the connector then the motor is probably shot and needs replacing, if there is no voltage at the conector then check for broken wiring!
How do you replace a power window motor on a 1997 Ford Explorer?
fordf150.net or f150online.com/forums has helped me with most of my problems.
How do I fix 2000 Chrysler Concorde stuck electric windows in front seats?
if the switch works then the widow motor need to be replaced take the door panel off and see if something is effecting the travel of the window if the motor works
On corvette 1974 - both windows suddenly did not work-is it a fuse problem?
The power to the window relay comes from the fuse panel. The relay should be under the shift console, left side, after you remove the small access panel. The didn't make these things easy to get to. Losing power to both windows probably means a loose of power at the fuse panel. The wire plugs in right above where you use your foot to operate the dimmer switch. To do any electrical testing you really should have basic test tools and a basic knowledge of 12 volt electrical systems.
Check the wires going thru the drivers door for fraying . Using a 12v tester, check the power going to the master switch at the drivers door. The circuit breaker for your power windows should reset as long as there isn't a dead short.I hope this helps you. Mark Thanks for helping Mark, you look like to have some electrical knowledge that I don't. I do not have a 12v tester to operate as you mentioned. Could you tell me where on the fuse panel is the one for the power windows (location)? I would appreciate. Access to read is not easy and with a flash light I could bearely read them. I could not find any abrevation close to power windows or related to. All looks not melted. Maybe there is a relay too to check or change? where is the location?. Appreciate your help. Eric
Why does my Chevy venture power windows only works sometimes?
The contacts are likely dirty or corroded preventing contact at will. You can clean by disconnecting and swishing around in an electronics parts cleaner or something similar that is not water based. You will appreciate it as you see all of the dust and debris contaminate the solution. This has worked for me on Venture and other cars.
How do you replace the window regulator on a Toyota Previa?
I drove one about 600k. They do not usually go bad. Once the door panel is removed, there is about 4 bolts holding an "x" type assembly(heavy metal old style regulator used by many manufacturers, including GM). Motor itself can fail, and is attached by a couple of screws, and is in a black plastic enclosure(replace the whole plastic assembly). If you live in the snow belt, and you try to lower the window when it is still stuck to the rubber moulding, it will strip out a few teeth, and will not go all the way up. Usually about an inch still open. One cure for this is to remove the "x" assembly, and take it to a weld shop. They can braze you a couple of spot drops in place of missing teeth. Basically a couple of drops of weld. You can then file them down to look like the rest of the teeth on the assembly. Grease all the teeth real well, and you will be in good shape for many years. More than likely, your problem is the latter.
Sounds like the motor is disconnected from the window, or the gear may be stripped.

How do you repair a window regulator in a Nissan Maxima '91 and is it a very difficult task?
The window regulator is quite easy to replace. First of all figure out if you need just the regulator or the motor as well... You can buy the regulators for about $28 online (closer to $80 with the motor).
Here's a link to full step-by-step instructions including pictures:
http://www.a1electric.com/maximareg.htm
(Remember, 1989 - 1994 Maximas are all the same)
It might take you a little while on the first one to figure out just which way to bend everything to get it out, but by the fourth window you'll be a pro ;) Those regulators seem to last exactly 15 years, all mine went within 6 months of each other on my 90 Max last year, so if one is going you can probably count on the rest going in the near future. We can all thank Nissan for the decision to use plastic pully parts combined with a rough metal wire...
Good luck =)
Why can you not manually turn over a motor?
Usually you can. If you cannot then you may want to remove one or all spark plugs to reduce compression.
How do you fix an electric window in a 1994 Nissan Maxima if it will go down but won't go back up?
Replace the motor. Not and easy job. Get a manual on your car to do the job right.
If the window motor still works then you might have to replace the window regulator. That is a common problem in the 3rd generation maxima (89-94). Hopefully this was able to help you.
How do you fix a window on a Ford E-150 van that will not roll up?
This is probably due to the window lift motor going bad. Take off arm rest, inside door latch and speaker grill. Now remove the inside door panel by prying it off with a screw driver along the perimeter. Now you can see the motor inside the door. Removeall the attachingbolts and remopve the motor and gaerabox. Test it on a 12 volt source to be sure it is bad. If so, replace.
How do you fix a 97 Saturn Power Window regulator without the cost?
Easy! 1) Buy the Saturn repair book at any an auto store. That will show you the steps to taking the door trim and panelliung off. 2) Look on Ebay for a used Saturn door regulator. This may take a while since there is not always a used regulator being auctioned. orBuy a new replacement regulator on Ebay or online.3) Install it yourself from the instructions in the satrun repair manual. or Get a friend to do it and buy them beer and pizza.
This should cost no more than $100 (including the booze), and you could get one used for maybe $40 with shipping.
Heck, I'll come fix it for a bottle of Makers Mark.
Where is the fuse for the power windows located on a 1999 VW Jetta?
fuse panel is under the dash, all the way over by the left hand door (driver's door in usa). fuses are numbered left to right from 1. fuse 14 is for power windows however power window problems are rarely from a blown fuse.
Why do the electric windows only work intermittently?
HeySam==If they work without touching the switch, the switches are bad. If they won't work until you slam a door, the motors need replacing. Goodluckjoe
How do you fix power windows on Pontiac grand am they won't go up?
1999 Pontiac grand pre how do I bypass driver window so I can get it up.
Where is the power window relay located in a 1998 Firebird?
the relay for the drivers power window is up under the dash to the right of the gas pedal just in front of the center console
Why the window motor will not roll up?
it probably stopped working because its probably old. You probably have to buy a new one
It could very easily be the switch. Window motors work by reversing the polarity to go up and down. If the motor worked going down, it should work coming up. Motors tend to be all or nothing. With the door panel off, you can unplug the motor and power it with jumper wires to see if it works both ways. If it does, it is most likely the master switch not the one in that door.
How do you replace a drivers window on a 98 Malibu?
first of all, take inside panel off of door, then take out bolt holding glass, pull up on glass and tilt forward to release from track and vehicle. to take off door panel--remove all screws on arm rest and inside door handle, if you do not have a tool to take off clip holding crank on, just use a clean rag and move it back and forth behind crank for glass, the rag will catch end of clip and pop it off. to take panel off, use a screwdriver to pop panel off or something flat. panel pulls off, it has clps on the back that are in holes, when putting panel back on, be carefull not to bend the plastic clips. if so you can buy these at any auto parts store. you!!
What is the reason that a window fuse keeps blowing on a Volvo 1990 240 DL?
check the circuit with your test light....a diagram of the circuit will help... ...everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the local library should have a professional shop manual available, to make copies of, in the Reference section...good luck:)
What can cause power windows in a 1994 ford explorer to not go up or down?
From what I understand of your problem, IF the fuse for that circuit IS good, then the problem is probably that the wiring of that circuit is suffering from an "open" condition, is disconnected somewhere.
For an electrical circuit to function, the circuit must be complete which means that a conductor [wire] must be attached from the Positive terminal of the battery and run [through various harnesses, connectors, and plugs, etc.] to the fuse, then to a control switch, then to the electrical device (in this case your window motors), and then another wire [called a ground] back to the Negative terminal of the battery. Usually the ground wire does not go all the way back to the battery Negative terminal, but instead connects to the body sheet metal near the device, and the body sheet metal is all grounded to the Negative terminal of the battery.
This continuous line of conduction is what is called a "circuit." IF any part of that circuit is disconnected at a connector, or a screw terminal, or at a sheet metal ground screw, the circuit is "open," incomplete, and cannot conduct the electricity.
The "fix" for your problem is for someone who understands and is experienced in automotive electrical systems to fully "troubleshoot" that electrical circuit to find and identify the defect [s] and then to properly correct it.
Although there could be only one of many possible defects, you need to find it, and fix it in order to cause the circuit to work as it should. The first thing that should be checked is the fuse [s] for the nonfunctional circuit.
Another thing that comes to mind is that often fuses can "look OK," yet be incapable of conducting electricity. You need to test fuses that look OK with a VOM [Volt-Ohm meter] to confirm that there is conductivity.
