Car shakes when started?

i have a buddy who drives an escape and he rencently had trouble with his car shaking. he said whenever he put the keys in the ignition that the escape would shake vibrantly. so he said he took it to his father-in-law's house because he's been a car technition since vietnam(he got a purple heart for trying to run supplies to stranded soldiers, god bless him). so my friend took off work for the next 3 or 4 days. they worked so hard and diligently for hours each day. but then his stove caught fire and half of his house burnt to the ground. but then i loaned 25 grand and he just bought a new car. good luck

WHERE are the oxygen sensors on 2002 Ford Escape?

Oxygen Sensor

Some vehicles have (2) and some have (4) O2 sensors.
When you start looking at the O2 sensors, they are normally numbered something like "Bank 1 Sensor 1" Bank 1 is on the passenger side; Bank 2 is on the driver's side. Sensor 1 is the upstream sensor (near the frame, between the block and the cat) and Sensor 2 is near the Y-pipe (downstream of the cat).

Normally it is the upstream sensors (sensor 1) that go first. They see the harshest conditions.

You will need;

Oxygen Sensor Socket

Anti-Seized

Penetrating Oil

I have even used a small plumbers propane tank and heat it up and it help get them free.

Sometimes it will take 15 minutes or take a few hours it depends on your luck...

Oxygen Sensor

There are actually (4) O2 sensors on your truck. If you look inside the wheel wells behind the fender liner, right about where the frame is one O2 sensor, the other is underneath the truck about half way back in relation to the transmission. If you see where the exhaust joints together, you went about 6" too far.

How do you change the drivers side door handle on a 1998 Dodge Avenger?

== == Go to the Allpar.com site and search for an article by Rodger Koppa on how to do this nasty little job. Did it on both my doors, be prepared to cuss a bit. After you install the new handles you can forestall future breakage by just popping the lkatch with the handle, and then using the edge of the door to swing the door open. Those dinky plastic handles just can't take the side torque with those heavy doors! I used the directions provide by Rodger Koppa to repl;ace my passenger side door handle and it works great. Like he says though be prepared to cuss a little bit and just hope you don't drop anything into the door. Good Luck!!

How do you check the manual transmission fluid in a 2001 Ford Escape?

P reg vectra when you turn the ignition on a light stays on the dash it has a picture of an engine with a bolt of lightning in it what does this mean?

It PROBABLY means a problem with the charging system. Take the vehicle to a local auto parts retailer, such as Auto Zone or Checker Auto and have them connect the charging system diagnostics. If it's not the charging system, the computer is telling you that SOMETHING is wrong and you need to check the computer to see what it is. Borrow, rent or buy an OBD2 diagnostic code scanner and see what it says.

its your engine management light it means there is a problem with a sensor most commen faults are air mass sensor, cam shaft sensor, crank shaft sensor, egr valve or idle speed contral valve hope this as been helpfull!

How do you replace rear hub and bearinG ford escape 2wd?

If you don't have the "special tools", then you first have to remove the big nut on the back of the hub after you've removed the wheel and brake drum of course. Put the nut 3/4 of the way back onto the hub threads. You can tap on that to move the hub out of the bearing (careful not to damage threads). Once the hub has been moved out as far as it'll go with the nut on, remove the nut. Go to the outside and behind the lug nut bolts you'll have more room to see the "C" clip or retaining ring. I pried out an end of the ring and with a couple of screw drivers worked my way around to remove that ring. From the back side you can use a pipe as I did and pound out the bad bearing. I just finished doing all this. 2-3 hours and the bearing was $45. Good luck

Your car barely accelerates when you press on the gas and it sputters really bad you just had the coil pack change What could be the problem?

Answerdid you check your fuel filter? AnswerIf the problem is still there after you have replaced your fuel filter, check your fuel pump pressure; you may have abad fuel pump. Mark

------

If your fuel pump is bad, the whole car dies. There's really no in between there. You can have a whole slew of problems...

- Bad O2 sensor.

- Faulty / Bad Spark Plugs / wires

- Coil pack (maybe it had more than 1 coil, and they replaced wrong one or not all)

- Vacuum Hose leak

- Catalytic Converter is clogged

- Clogged / Bad Fuel Filter

If you have a "Check Engine" light on, and your car was made after '94 (meaning, '95 and up), try having the codes run at a local auto parts store. Some do it for free, or if money's not an issue, just take it to a dealership and have them do a diagnostic. Generally, they'll charge you anywhere between $40 - $120, but they will tell you EXACTLY what is wrong, as well as ANYTHING else (even little things). The problem with cars, besides being expensive pieces of crap (regardless of which brand now and days), is that anything going wrong could be a whole bunch of things.

How do you change the cabin filter on 2003 Avalon?

It's behind the glove box. Open the glove box. On the outer right side of the box, there's a screw holding the damper (gizmo that makes it open slowly instead of just dropping open) to the side of the glove box. Take out that screw and back the damper off a little so it's clear of the mount it's on. Take all the junk out of the box, because it's all about to fall out. Now, put both hands on the outside of the side walls of the glove box up by the dashboard. Push the sides inward until the stops that are holding it up clear the edges of the hole the box lives in. It should now swing all the way down toward the floor, so gently let it do that. The filter is behind a removable black plastic panel at the upper left rear. It's about 1.5 inches high and 8 inches wide. Push in on the ends to disengage it, and pull it straight out (toward the front seat.) You'll now be looking at the back edge of the filter. Pull it out, replace it, push the glove box back up into the hole past the stops so it stays there. Reconnect the damper to the right side, replace the screw, and you're done. They usually last about 15,000 miles.

What kind of red liquid would be leaking from under the passenger side of a 2007 Ford Escape and where is it coming from?

it is more than likely transmission fluid, or power steering fluid. open your hood and use a flashlight look down into the engine compartment and see if you can see a leak.
