Ford Escape XLT

The Jeep Comanche came out in 1987 with a AMC 4.0L in line 6 cylinder engine. This engine is a perfect fit for the 1986 Comanche. My 1986 4x4 was originally shipped with a Renault Diesel engine. The engine was pulled and replaced with the 1987 AMC 4.0L in line 6 which is still running at 260 000KM. These engines can be picked up for anything from $200 - $2000. But why not sell your Comanche and buy a 4.0L in line 6 with 4x4.

Depending upon if it is one of the front or rear engine coils you have to remove the top plastic cover on the engine , the coils for the front are under it. they have a two wire connector that will need to be unfastened a 10mm bolt holds the coil in place then simply pull it off the spark plug and install your new coil. the rear come out the same you just have to cuss a lot more getting at them than the front.

The thread on cap on the coolant reservoir is the " radiator " cap

The intake manifold attaches to the heads of the engine and send an air and fuel mixture to the combustion chamber through the intake valves. The intake manifold is usually situated on the top of the motor.

Jack the vehicle up to relive tension off of the suspension. The undo the 3 bolts from the top that release the struts.

you need to take the motor mount off to change the belt, you can do this by placing a jack and a block of wood under you engine and ever so slightly jacking up to take the pressure off the engine, you need to be carefull or you will crack the oil pn trust me i learned the hard way, take it to the dealer, i will never do it agin.

How in the H### designed this system where you have to raise and lower the engin just to change a fan belt. THEY SHOULD BE SHOT. Please forgive my comments. I have never heard of such a thing just to change a fan belt. But I am right in the middle of it so I am screwed because I just do not have the tools to raise the engin. So tommrow it g's to the shop.

If it is a 4 cylinder 2.4L, it is quite easy to do with a wrench and a bar. Rotate the tensioner bolt counterclockwise and the tension will be released. Slip off the belt and slip on a new one.

That's a very good question. I'd like to know the answer to that too. The best I can figure is that there's a loose or corroded ground wire somewhere. I'm gonna try to find it this weekend.

Yes and no, respectively. It is illegal in Alberta if it is not a part of a "specialty" group like the Veterans Group. In BC, it still is law that a vehicle have licence plates both on the front and back of the vehicle.

The 2006 Ford Escape has an inline 4 engine.

there are two, one in the fusebox on the right kick panel, near the drivers feet, and one is on the back of the actual cigarette lighter socket its self, its a small rubber thing with two wires coming out of it, if blown, it will be slightly swollen... i just replaced mine with a wire, as it already has a fuse at the drivers feet, to the right

This seems to be a problem with aluminum oil pans. I just did it today and found an answer with an oversized self-tapping oil plug. Found one at my auto parts store for $2.99.

Use the lever rules

First thing is first, check the breaker related to your pool light. For many homes there is a ground fault circuit interrupt (GFCI) breaker located where your pool equipment breakers are. You should look for a single breaker with a push to reset button on it. Sometimes you may find a GFCI outlet (just like the ones found in bathrooms) near the breaker box. Many times the reason for your light failure is these GFCI's are tripped and need resetting. Push the reset button in and check your light now. If you re-trip the breaker once the power is turned back on you either have moisture in the light, the socket is bad or the cord is damaged in some way.

If the pool light was installed properly, then behind the light is a coil of cable that should allow the light to be removed from the light recess in the pool wall and raised above the water level onto the deck above. Remember to TURN OFF THE POWER before you dismantle any electric device.

There is usually one screw holding the light module in the recess - remove the screw and the light module will come out easily from the recess.

Once out, you will see a mechanism that holds the glass against the rubber seal and light container - it's usually a wire ring that has a nut and bolt in it - as you tighten the nut and bolt, it cinches up the wire loop against clamps that push the light fixture against the rubber seal and the glass.

Remove the wire loop and take off the glass and seal. Replace the bulb AND SEAL with a similar model and reassemble the fixture. The seals are essential in keeping moisture out of your fixture and ruining the whole light. Take your old seal with you to get a visual inspection and a proper match. Before assembling the light test the new bulb with a quick on/off of the light switch. If it works reassemble the fixture. If it doesn't test the socket and new bulb. Once assembled, it is usually a good idea to sink the fixture into the pool for a few hours just to be sure that it does not leak before you screw it back into the recess. If it does leak, you can try to reassemble the fixture again and try the leak test again.

NEVER LEAVE THE LIGHT ON UNLESS IT IS SUBMERGED! These are powerful flood lamps - they produce a lot of heat and can damage the fixture unless the water is there to dissipate the heat!

Check the fixture periodically for leaks - a leaky seal will cause the power to short and may blow the bulb requiring ANOTHER replacement.

The 2014 Ford Escape has front wheel drive.

it probably wont "damage" anything, however it will make the glass and wipers really oily, which wont help much in cleaning the winshield, if you poured itin by mistake, just drainit out and refill with proper solution, and wipe the blades with rubbing alchohol, (not really too good for wipers) and REALLY clean the paint right away.

An infant seat (in which the infant lies on his or her back with his head toward the front of the vehicle) will fit behind the passenger seat provided that the passenger seat is neither leaning back too far nor slid back too far. This coule make the passenger seat uncomfortable for a tall passenger.

Foglights by nature are very diffuse and don't require a real exacting aiming....but do so by either using the mounting bolts you see or even just bending the bracket they attach with a bit.

the cover does not come off, you must remove the entire light assembly and remove the bulb from the back side

Remove the center nut (driveshaft end retaining nut), then remove the wheel.

Lift car by the jacking point so the wheel hangs.

Separate the ball joint from the spindle.

Take the lower strut mounting bolt out of the lower control arm.

Pull the rotor/spindle assembly out towards you and away and pull the outer end of the driveshaft out of the rotor hub spline.

Pry the driveshaft out of the trany.

Carefully put the new driveshaft into the trany as not to damage the seal

Reverse instructions to install.

If the lower strut bolt is seized in the control arm you will be better off to remove the outer cv from the old & new shaft and install the shaft then the outer cv. You will need a new boot clamp to do this.
