How do you Replace headlight bulb on 89 probe?

You have to replace the headlight on the 89 probe not the bulb. There are four screws that secure the headlight. I turned my headlights on and unhooked the battery so I could replace it while it was in the up position. For standard replacement bulbs I suggest buying them at Wal-Mart. They are about half the price you would pay at an auto parts store.

How do you find the cutoff switch on a 1994 Ford Probe GT?

the Inertia Fuel Shutoff Switch is located in the trunk. It is mounted under the luggage compartment floor cover at the back of the LH rear cargo storage compartment. The reset button must be pushed to reeet the IFS once it has been triggered. Basically it is behind the rear wheel well under the trunk mat close to the rear quarter panel. Good luck. Gus

Where is the fuel filter located on a 1993 Ford Probe GT?

Check froom the tank to the engine and you will find it inline I think about midway.

The fuel filter is actually in the engine compartment between the Air filter and the firewall and down. You will need a 10MM wrench to remove the fuel filter bracket assembly. It is easier to remove the fuel filter from it's bracket after the assembly is out of the car. You will need a pair of needle nose pliers for the factory crimping style hose clamps. The hose on the bottom coming from the pump will have to be accessed from under the car.

Ford probe won't start?

OK Finally! My 95 Ford Probe mysteriously would not start. We then checked the resistance on the distributor, it did Not have resistance. ( My Distributor was still under warranty). After putting in a NEW Distributor, it still would NOT start.

I then searched this website, and found other people had the same problem. (My husband is a mechanic and so is his best friend and they were both stumped).

Next we replaced the crankshaft sensor, and WHOOPEE it started rite up!!! Its very strange that both the Distributor and the Crankshaft Sensor both went bad at the same time?? My husband thinks it is just a coincidence, but I think the Sensor made the Distributor go bad somehow...Only God knows: ) I hope it helps you.

Oh and P.S. my 95 Probe is for sale if you are interested. Its running perfect now. Has new; Brakes,Tires,Distributor,Spark Plugs, Catalytic Converter, Clutch, Re Upholstered seats, etc.....Was my son's but for discipline reasons he lost it.

Will changing the cam on a 1973 340 give you more horsepower?

Absolutely...This motor came out of the factory with 240 bhp because the valves are smaller than the earlier 340's and the compression ratio was lowered to 8.5/1 versus the 10.4/1 in the earlier cars. If you were to do headers, an unsilenced air cleaner and a cam that has about a .500 lift, you should be able to get the 73 motor back up to the 71 specs (about 270-275 bhp) If you want big power, you would want to mill the "J" heads that you have and do 2.02-1.80 valves. Getting 10/1 TRW dome top pistons or shaving the heads while the valve seats are being ground would make it 300+ bhp easy.

How to change 93 Ford Probe manual transmission?

Its a lot of steps. You really need to break-down and buy a $15.00 repair manual at your local auto parts store. Not a bad job if you don't have any rust.

Where is the oil pressure sending unit on a 1993 ford probe GT 2.5 engine?

How do you recharge a Ford Probe air conditioner?

If it is out of refrigerant but lost it slowly enough that you think it will hold more, the easiest is to buy a conversion kit at an auto store to change from the older refrigerat to the newer weight. The kits have instructions. It's a matter of empting the old (which requires a dealer's equipment to do it legally and not damage the ozone). Then putting on new caps. Then refilling it with the oil and new refrigerant in the order described. If's not holding the refrigerant it won't work. If you want to stay with the old weight then only a mechanic can get the use the stuff. I converted an '89 probe with many miles on it several years old and it must have held and worked well for upwards of 3 or more years.

Why does the voltage regulator in a 1989 Ford Probe overcharge?

On my 89 Probe it overcharged because I needed a new alternator. Sometimes a bad computer causes "spikes" in the voltage. In this case, turn the headlights on at night, if they flicker like high beams, then the computer is NG. -CE

Where is the iat sensor 93 probe 2.5?

The intake air temperature sensor is inside the main plastic housing of the air intake box where the air filter resides.

How do you change the alternator on a 1994 probe SE?

1)Detach the negative cable from the battery. (CAUTION) If the factory stereo is equipped with an anti-theft system, make sure you have the correct activation code before disconnecting the battery. 2)Detach the electrical connector and any ground straps from alternator. 3) Remove the fresh-air duct and the splash shield under the front of vehicle. 4) Unbolt the A/C compressor and set it aside, but don't disconnect the hoses. 5) Loosen the alternator adjusting bolt and tensioner bolt, then detach the drive belt. 6) Make sure the new(rebuilt) alternator looks identical to old one. Many new or rebuilt alternators don't have a pully installed, so you may have to use the pully from the old alternaor. 7) Installation is the reverse of removal.HAVE FUN ! -CE

How do you set the timing on a 1996 Ford Probe 2.0L?

The question you ask is too involved for a proper answer. You need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library.

I'm having the same problem with my 96 4cyl. probe i set the timing by the little dots aligned with the cam block not the intake or exhaust marks. and yet my psi reads 5 it seems the one cam shaft had slipped or rotated. when the marks are alignied the lifters don't seem right my 1st lifter closest to the firewall is closed but the other shaft the lifter is opened to far down. i heard of another guy had the same problem also if your t belt broke you might want to check your lifters. make sure your #1 cy is at tdc your crand at tdc and your camshafts match

What service is needed when the air bag light flashes on a 1993 Probe?

There is a problem with the SRS. Take it to a professional and do not attempt to repair yourself. Serious injury can occur if repaired incorrectly and the air bag deploys prematurely.

Can you put Manual transmission out of a 1989 Ford Probe in a 1995 Ford Probe that is an automatic?

CHANGE TRANSMISSION AND PEDALS CHANGE ALLL THE AUTOMATIC STUFF TO FIVE SPEED STUFF

No you cannot put a 89 transmission in a 95. There were 2.2 in the earlier years the 89 transmissions will only fit from like an 89-92. Then from 93-97. Which have a 2.0.

Where is the thermostat on a 1995 ford probe?

Follow the bottom radiator hose and it will lead you under the distributor and you will just have to take the two 12mm bolts out and there it is.

Where is the thermostat located on a 1994 Ford Probe GT and how do you replace it?

Thermostat locationI own a '91 Probe GL, which is 4 cylinders, and the thermostat is located in the housing which is at the engine end of the radiator hose coming from the top side of the radiator. Just look for that main hose, and follow it to the cylinder head. The thermostat should be in that housing.

-Shaun

The thermostat is located on the right side of the engine looking in, in between the intake manifold and the air filter box, underneath the wiring. This is in a 1994 Ford Probe GT 6 cylinder.

To replace the thermostat, you really need to remove the intake manifold and this can be up to two or three hours work alone, even for a qualified mechanic.
