Do you have to take the transmission or motor out to put a crank senor in a 2.0 Chevy tracker?
i have a 2001 Chevy tracker and i just replaced the crank sensor. i have been having a problem with mine not cranking. i would drive it and cut it off. it would not crank up until after it sat for a while. the crank sensor has not fixed the problem though. you have to take the tranmission out and take the flywheel off. the sensor is behind it. hopes this helps. i got a sensor at napa for about $100. advance auto parts wanted about $174 for it i think

How much is a 1986 Ford Ranger worth?

A drag link converts rotary motion from a crank to a second crank or link in a different plane or axis.
The term is commonly used in automotive technology for the link in a four bar steering linkage that converts rotation of a steering arm to a center link and eventually to tie rod links which pivot the wheels to be steered. A drag link is used when the steering arm operates in a plane above the other links. The drag link converts the sweeping arc of the steering arm to linear motion in the plane of the other steering links.
An alternate steering mechanism is a rack and pinion, a three bar linkage that eliminates the drag link by directly moving the center link.
The length of a drag link can affect the geometry and thus the steering ratio. Severe wear of this part can affect the wheel alignment such as Toe-in or Toe-out settings. This can drastically affect the handling and stability of the vehicle at speed.

Only way is to run your hands along to find bolts, and work in small area. be sure to have plenty of lock free, as it's best to let it soak for about 15 minutes, and will help when prying off the bell housing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Answer; Actually there is another way. I personally remove my share of motor and transmissions in my time... I used a 3-foot extension from the bottom of the vehicle with the correct socket and ratchet you should be able to remove all the bell-housing bolts. With the proper floor clearance of course...
Why does the starter make a loud spinning noise and not crank over the engine?
If it happens intermittently, it is caused by a broken tooth or teeth on the engine ring gear. Thus when the starter solenoid throws the pinion gear backwards, the pinion and ring gear will not engage. In some rare cases the pinion gear can come off or the solenoid itself fails, yeilding the same result. You can test this by putting the car into gear and moving it slightly to move the ring gear (in some cars). Sometimes opening the drivers door and jumping up and down on the door sill can rock the engine enough to move the ring (again in some cars). The car might start. The only fix for this ultimately is to replace the ring gear.

How do you test injectors Ford Ranger?
Haynes or Chilton book is a must before you start diagnostics.
2nd you will need an OHM meter.
Depending on what ranger you have, I know the 4.0L is 11-18OHMS.
a good idea would be to test ALL injectors, write down ALL OHM #'s you obtain. compare them all. And from there you will know where the problem injector is. If all injectors have no power, look at your ECM "electronic control module.
I hope this helped you a lil bit

Inside the thermostat housing...the housing is bolted directly to the water pump on the lower left side with 2 hex bolts(10mm). The outlet of the therm housing connects to the lower rad hose. You should the able to remove the top hex bolt simply by reaching over the fan shroud and down behind the serpentine belt. The lower bolt is easier to remove from underneath the van.
