The oil pressure is located on the side of the engine block. The switch has a black plug with three wires connected to it.

The brake lights on a 96 Jimmy are operated by the brake light switch, mounted on the brake pedal assembly. If the switch is bad the lights could stay on or off, or be sporadic.

if your talking a bought the defrost that it dosent come out of its not suposed to come out there but yes there is a vacuum diaphragm under the dash ;should be by your heater box

The transmission should be in drive. The 4x4 shifter should be put in

4 high for highway use. If its push button 4x4 then use 4 high.

4 low is for pulling loads a real short distance only.

The headlight assembly is held in place as one entire unit.

In between the battery and the headlight assembly unit are two tabs that when pulled upward (by hand) will release the housing from the vehicle. (VERY EASY once you know).

The headlight assembly is now held to the vehicle ONLY by wires, so don't let it drop and break. It's now just a matter of bulb replacement from the backside of the headlight assembly. Do this by turning the bulb in it's socket until the little catches line up with the open slots and poll the light bulb out. Do NOT touch the glass portion of the new bulb you are installing if it is a halogen bulb. Doing so will severely shorten the life of the bulb since contaminants on your hands cause the bulb to quickly overheat and die.

Once the bulb is changed and plugged back into the wires, put the headlight assembly back in place by aligning it and poke the two plastic pegs on the back of the headlight assembly into the two square holes in the front of the vehicle. Now slide the two tabs you originally pulled up to release the headlight assembly, back down into place making sure the "slots" at the bottom of sliding tabs catch the square plastic pegs on the back of the headlight assembly.

Do NOT pound the sliding tabs back down. Doing so will break the square pegs off of the back of the headlight assembly and pounding is not necessary if you have them properly in the square holes and all of the way in. There is a spring loaded tensioner that holds the tension on the belt. Get a wrench that fits the nut on the tensioner and apply alot of clockwise pressure that will losen the tensioner and allow the belt to go on and off.

You need to read the code(s) that are set. They should lead you in the right direction. Many auto parts store will provide this service in hopes you purchase parts to repair it from them.

First of all, there was a factory recall relating to wiper problems on '96 & '97 Jimmies. Too late now to get a dealer to cover it. The problems were due to cracked solder joints on the wiper controller circuit board, which is mounted under the plastic cover on the wiper motor housing. Some guys have had success re-heating/resoldering the joints where the electrical connector attaches to the board. Most ended up paying about 40 bucks for an aftermarket wiper controller board or got raped by a dealer for a genuine Delco replacement. Another thing to check (actually, the first thing I'd check since they won't turn off) is whether or not you have voltage at either the gray or purple wires at the wiper motor connector with the switch off. If you do, your wiper switch is most likely shorted internally. Not fun to replace. Not unless you like chasing after small, oddly-shaped pieces that fall out of the steering column when you take it apart and then later figuring out where they go.
