from the trunk look up towards where the lamp is there you will see a two/three wire connection/socket at the lamp... turn the connection/socket about 1/4 to 1/2 turn to the left and pull down slightly you'll find a burnt out bulb...... replace and re-install connector/socket in the reverse of removal..... P.S. Dont get locked in the trunk..... lol
if your lamp is on the top of your rear window then either carefully snap off the cover from inside the vehicle that covers the lamp or remove 2-3 screws from the cover (if applicable) and there you will find the bulb.....

Do Pontiacs have heating problems?
not really but they go through cam bearings pretty bad best suggestion don't get one. I currently have a Pontiac and have been having problems with the transmission and now the engine caught on fire. Definatley do not get one

Some cars have a fuel cut-off switch that upon an impact kills power to the fuel pump. From my experience it doesn't take much of an impact to trigger this switch. Most vehiles with this feature have a reset switch located inthe trunk area.
How do you check the transmission fluid on a 1999 Pontiac Grand AM GT?
I have a 2000 Grand Am and is probably the same. There is a 7/16 plug on the transmission case you have to be under the car to see it. it is located on the backside near the right axel. You take it out and put in transmission fluid till it comes out the plug hole. The fill plug is accesed from engine compartment,you will need a long funel to fill. Must take it to a Dealer. I believe there is a recommended 100,000 mile check, but not sure. Easest thing to do is ask a dealer.
1999 Pontiac Grand Am 3.4 V6 4 speed auto does not have a dip stick. According to the manual if the transmission is leaking fluid or shifting incorrectly take it to the dealer. Other than that the service interval for filter and fluid change is 50,000 miles. I hope this answers your question.
It is a challenging procedure to check the fluid. It must be done at a particular temperature. There is a plug on the transmission that is removed and when the fluid doesn't run out, it is full. The level will change however depending on the temperature of the fluid.

sounds like you have moisture in the distributer. easiest way to remove is to take distributor cap off and dry with a hair dryer,u also need to dry inside of distributer while cap is off. if you have the time to leave cap off in a warm place for a day or so, most moisutre will evaporate out
Ignition coil shorting to surrounding metal or dead. Open top shroud and look and listen for spark to be taking a short cut to ground instead of going to distributor cap. If you see a spark or hear it crackle, that's it.
Another good way to remove and/or prevent moisture problems in your distributor is to spray the inside of the distributor cap with silicone spray. WD40 spray works too.

On the 84 is looks like a rectangular block plugged into the base of the distributer.
you may also want to check the controller. it tells the relay how long to stay on. Your glow plugs don't stay on all the time. If your wait to start light doesn't stay on very long, then your controller is telling the relay to turn off. If the light isn't coming on at all then i would definetely check the controller. First check the 50amp fuse in the under hood block.

there is no dip stick, there is a plug under the transmission that you have to take out and if fluid comes out it is full, it is only a 1/4 inch plug.
Try checking your circuit breakers largefuses or relay switches for front power windows.
