Is it OK to try on women's clothes if you are a man?
Of course it's ok to crossdress.
While some people consider it extremely bizarre or believe it means a man is homosexual or feminized, it means no such thing. If you do dress as the other sex, you may be considered a freak or weirdo, but if enough people challenged that, maybe this perception would change.
A lot of the negative perception is based on social programming born of prejudice and theocratic repression from mainstream religions is main causality to the repressive prejudices. Many are indifferent, most are tolerant, a few are prejudiced and narrow minded.
The world is very different from a few decades ago, a century ago, and one of those differences is, men can crossdress just as freely and legally as women do but women aren't noticed as much and not condemned by repressed individuals and groups who are intolerant due to beliefs they try to influence over others through egocentric control, anybody can be gay if they want and the law even protects their rights to conduct themselves without prejudice if repressed individuals maliciously victimize men for crossdressing or being gay.
They are only clothes at the end of the day, if you feel comfortable wearing female oriented clothes, sexy even, go for it.
It doesn't mean you are gay either, hetero/bi/gay men crossdress, that's a fact, so feel no shame when somebody tries to shame you, it is their problem if they cannot accept it.
If your friends or peers are a bit narrow-minded and can't accept it, my opinion is reassess your acquaintance with them if they can't accept how you are, as you aren't the one with the problem.
Be honest with people as much as yourself, if people can't respect your freedom of expression, which as long as you're not hurting anybody you are entitled to, leave them behind and move on to people you can be comfortable and honest with else you'll always be uncomfortable with them and they with you.
But do so with respect and mindfully, considering the outcomes and preparing yourself emotionally as either way it will change the way people perceive you, not necessarily in a negative context but possibly.
Wearing women clothing if you're a man is not exactly illegal, so you can try it on sometimes for personal wear, occasionally, for the fun of it, and also maybe you should first think about getting permission from wearing it. It's also highly OK to try on women clothing at the same time being a man because it would prejudice to say it is not OK, but it's alright as long as you want to wear it, but don't overdo it because some men always wear women clothing, if you are one of these people, then try and wear clothes for your gender too, but no one is in any position to say men shouldn't wear women clothing, it's kind of discriminative.
It's just clothing! Why on earth does it matter if somebody decides unilaterally that it is for a particular sex. It, in no way, represents sexuality.
