Infiniti I30

I purchased a HAYNES repair manual ($10) for the 1999 Nissan Maxima; vehicles have same engine and mechanical components. The manual will depict the numbering of the cylinders/ignition coils. In addition,I suggest purchasing a $10 multimeter, you can benchcheck the ignition coil in question, which the manual will provide you with a step-by-step procedure. WARNING: If you have one bad ignition coil, get prepared to change more...this seems to be a common problem with the Maxima and Infiniti I30s. The dealership charges an outrageous price for these,but I suggest Auto Zone (Wells igntion) or the likes for purchasing these for if you have to replace all six this might save you $300 or more. your owners manuel should have the cylinder designations

could be the idle air control vavle( change before it burns up the ecu), or a bad lower intake manifold gasket

Not sure what you want me to do now? Wanted to know when you change the transmission fluid on my Infinity I-30.....the book that came with the car does not mention this in the various inspection periods...CKH

It's located under the hood on the back firewall driver side. Unhook hose on top and bottom and replace w/new filter then hook both hoses.

There are three of them under the plate where you put the oil in. Because there are no spark plug wires you have to remove the modules in order to find the spark plugs. The other three are toward the back of the engine and not as easy to get to. You will be able to see the modules just becareful when you take the screws out it is easy to drop and loss them. The spark plugs are inside there and they are a pain to get to. In case your not sure the modules are small black squares that have a screw on either side of them.

if you are looking at the engine on the right side you will your air intake that whole sytem needs to come off it will be underneath a lil ways being held on by 3 bolts you may have to move some wire to get to it also make sure all sensors attached to the air intake are taken off and the wire conecting the solenoid on the starter also once you take the trhee bolts off you will have to wiggle the starter as you pull it out then reverse the steps to put it back together

I took out number 40 inside the car.

It is more likely to go "good" (turn to alcohol) than to go bad. It can crystallize though.

The short and sweet answer to the question is "Yes." Measure for a new serpentine belt and route around the AC pulley. The vehicle will operate in all other respects as normal.

Not sure if it's the same but on a J30 and Nissan Maxima you put the key in the truck luck and open it. That turns off the alarm.

Many locksmiths will be able to help you and at reasonable cost. After thet cut the blank key with a small hand held computer they program the new key to the vehicle ( not even 5 min. per key) i have paid in FL 60 bucks per key all inclusive!!!

The crankshaft sensor allow the computer to know where the crankshaft is in relation to its rotation. it basically tells the computer the engine speed, at what point to spray fuel into the engine and how much and also times the spark to ignite the fuel and air in the cylinder. . Some cars wont start with a bad crank sensor and some will start but will run bad.

4.3 Quarts with a new filter

The oxygen sensor for a 1996 Infiniti I30 has 3 wires. The car actually has two O2 sensors, a front and a rear. Both sensors are the three-wire type.

I had the identical problem with my 96 I30 after letting it sit for a year and after recharging the battery. I have 343,600 miles on mine and I'm the original and only owner. I downloaded the schematic diagrams for the electrical system. I took out fuse #17 (10 Amp) which basically shut down the anti-theft (start) and it still didn't start. After checking that fuse #33 (7.5 Amp) was good, I replaced the starter (very first one) and it's working fine. The only other thing it could be is the inhibitor switch (Park or Neutral switch) so try both positions and if it doesn't start in either Park or Neutral, it's probably the starter. Bought the starter brand new on Ebay for $75 delivered!

Disconnect your battery, and leave it disconnected for at least 24 hours. The battery backup on the computer will die after 24 hours, at that point, the service engine indicator is reset.

This is a relatively easy process; you should be able to replace both headlights within 15 minutes. And by the way, it's always a good idea to replace both light bulbs even if only one is burned out. Lights have a finite lifespan, and it's likely that your other light bulb will go out soon. Start by buying 9004 halogen bulbs. locate the back of the healight assembly in the engine compartment. There is a beige back up ring holding the light bulb in the headlight assembly. Turn the back up ring approximatley 90 degrees (1/4 turn) to the right. Pull the ring back along the wire. Grasp the plug assembly, and and pull the bulb (with wires attached) out of the headlight assmembly. To unplug the bulb, gently squeezing the black plastic static lock, and pull the plug assembly away from the lightbulb. Reverse the procedure to reinstall.

check were the headers are or they will be under the spark plug cover on the engine cover one of these spots

My wife has the same car and same problem I found out that its the ignition switch. you probably can still start it. We found once you get to the turnover position where the car would usually crank if you just try to turn it a little harder then normal it starts but this is just a temporary solution eventually it will fail completely so don't waste any time and get a new ignition switch.

Under the hood by the battery. there will be a black plastic cover with pressure tabs you will need to remove.

Take the glove box out then behind it if you listen you can find the blower mtr not all the facts but its how far I got

Knock sensors detect detonation ( knocking ) by reacting to the ping by retarding the ignition timing so you will need a timing light for this. connect the timing light and locate the knock sensor, ( many are on the intake manifold ) now use a metal object to tap ( not too hard and not on the sensor itself ) on the intake manifold ( light tapping should suffice ), if the sensor is functioning you will see the timing retard. If the timing does not retard you will need to check voltage across the terminals of the knock sensor connector.
