Locks and Latches

It will come with a slip of paper that has the specific combination to that lock. Each individual lock has it's own combination.

You enter the correct combination for the lock then move the catch and the lock will spring open.

If you know the combination, dial it in, then close the lock, then press and hold the "reset" button. Whatever number you set before releasing the "reset" button will be the new combination.

You probably just need to fix the latch. There are some repair shops and locksmiths that specialize in car trunk locks.

That's a complete invasion of privacy!!

GM has progammable automatic door locks. These Modes and instructions are from the owners manual of a 2000 Grand Am. Mode 1 = All doors lock when shifted out of PARK, all doors unlock when shifted into PARK and TURNED OFF. Mode 2 = All doors lock when shifted out of PARK, only drivers door unlock in PARK and TURNED OFF (MODE 2 ONLY WORKS WITH REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY.) Mode 3 = All doors lock when shifted out of PARK, no auto unlock. Mode 4 = No auto lock or unlock. If you don't have an Owners Manual try these steps to program. Close all doors and turn key to ON (DO NOT START) hold LOCK on lock switch for 10 seconds, release when you hear chime. Count the number of chimes you hear, this is the number mode your car is in. Press and hold LOCK until the number of chimes match the number mode you want. I'm sorry i have no answer for your mirror problem. Good Luck!

make sure that the latching mechanism is open and not closed.. that's the part that is shaped like a c where the door meets the striker(the nob that sticks out from the car) if its closed it would be like running into a closed door.. when open it should close around it correctly..if not you may need to replace the nob. Not expensive either.

What year is your TL? If a newer model you need to enter into the systems menu located where your mileage is displayed. Go into settings and select which option you would like for automatic door locks. Some people set it to off so that they dont accidentely lock their keys inside. I think the other 2 settings are by the seconds.

Remove the plastic grill inserts from the front of the vehicle. Once removed you should be able to see the cable thatg leads to the hood latch. Use a pair of pliers or (needle nose pliers) and pull back on the cable(wire). Remember, the wire runs inside the black casing. Pulling on the entire black cable will do you no good. Pull on the wire. That should do the trick.

First you have to take it apart to see what broke before you can repair anything.

it is super easy so heres the steps

1. straighten out the paper clip(hairpins work better)

2. take one end and bend it upward like this ____/

3. next insert into the lock leave it there

4.get a tension wrench(or something to turn the lock with

5 insert the tension wrench into the lock below the paper clip

6 apply slight pressure to the tension wrench while moving the paperclip up and down

another method is just inserting the paperclip and tension wrench then vibrating the paperclip up and down as fast as you can(this works ive tried it) and your on your way! any other questions email me at gaudettemichael3@gmail.com i answer very quickly!!

The rear doors are a pain to open if they deadlock (Mondeo 93 on inc facelift)

I found that by releasing the screws that I could get to (about 2) and removing the inner handle and pull and the screw buried in the lower part of the door card

with the window in the lowered position using a screwdriver to lever the door trim up and over the lip at the top I could just get my hand inside to put back the lever beside the inner door lock actuator fiddly but I sorted it i disconnected the c/l wires and the door opened manually damage to the trim was minimal and the problem could then be sorted in the normal way

They are called combination locks because that is the general, conventional term used. Trying to call them permutation locks is mixing different areas of usage together and that is not valid.

the battery is a 2032. and available at most good stores (eg tesco)

I've a peugeot 307 (yreg) and the front passenger door has decided to remain locked ,i can hear the central locking working but the door will not open any ideas, mick

home locks use pin tumblers depending on manufacterer there are 5 pins or 6 pins. A tumbler in an ignition is a flat square shaped piece OS metal there are 8 or ten tumblers GM usually has 5 tumblers its what the key has to lift up to turn the ignition on or off.

As a Fire Fighter who faces this problem on many cars with front end damage we normally pry the edge of the hood on the driver's side up gently, look for the black cable which runs from the hood release handle to the hood release and grab and pull. This works about 95 percent of the time. If not, try to look in through the grill in the hood release area and see if you can unbolt the whole hood release.

I finally have the answer to my own question so I will share what I found: There are 2 universal keys that will work for inside doors only. One usually works better than the other. On outside doors, the lock has to be examined by a locksmith in order to make a special key.

take a volt meter and check to see if the switch inside door is getting voltage. if not, trace the wire inside the door back to under the hood to the source. also'use the ohms function to check the wire for an open wire. if the wire is open,replace it and this should solve your problem.

they are just copies of original keys like car keys house keys etc. look at the number on the key and go to axxess keys under Google and there is a list of numbers telling u what the key is for like 19 is a Chrysler key which means its for a car like like dodge Plymouth or any Chrysler key.

Not sure about the 99 maxima but I broke into my 98 with the keys in the trunk. My make shift key was a 3ft long metal rod (about the diameter of a pen) that I found laying around. I pulled on the front door from the end furthest from the hinges and stuck the rod through the weather stripping and managed to "hook" the inside lock. I was able to open my trunk at this point, and silence the alarm. No damage was done to the car.

IF YOU LOOK AT THE DOOR WHERE THE THREE SCREWS ARE, IS EVERYTHING STRAIGHT OR IS THE LATCH IN SLIGHTLY? (1/16" WILL MATTER) IF YOU GET IT OUT WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE IT SHOULD CLOSE AND LATCH. (WHEN IT IS IN TOO FAR THE LATCH HITS THE LOOP AND THE DOOR WON'T CLOSE) ALSO CHECK TO SEE IF THE SHEET METAL HAS CRACKED BY THE HINGE, CHECK THE LOWER ONE, THIS WILL NEED TO BE WELDED.
