YOU NEED TO GET THE CAR TO OPERATING TEMPERATURE AND THEN PULL YOUR DIPSTICK OUT WHICH IS ON YOU DRIVERSIDE AND IT IS USUALY BLACK OR RED WIPE THE EXCESS OFF AND PUT IT BACK IN AND PULL IT OUT IF IT IS IN THE CROSS HATCHES THEN YOUR OK IF NOT THEN YOU NEED TO ADD FLUID

Driver's side in front of the engine near the ground. See that canister in front of the engine with the screw top? That's it.

During surgery, physicians often watch the tracer uptake in the cerebral cortex to make sure that it continues to function properly. It is watched often during small surgeries such as biopsies.

I just replaced the alternator on my 99 mercury tracer. The guy at the auto parts store quickly showed us how to do it ourselves (saving us the price of a mechanic) Ask them at the store to show you which, but after disconnecting the battery, there is a plate on top of the alternator that you can take off and get out of the way. There are 2 bolts on the side to remove, and you loosen the tensioner that holds the belt tight by pushing it forward. After all that, carefully life the alternator out. It's a tight fit, but fortunately, these are accessible from the top rather than needing to get under the car. It takes some muscle to get the bolts loosened, but it's do-able. Then, obviously, reverse the process as you put the new alternator in. They told us the biggest thing to watch for is your radiator hose right in the front. It's easy to accidentally lean on it as you're working and break it.

I'm a female and was able to do most of the work myself, calling my husband in for some extra strength. Neither of us are very experienced with working on cars, so I'd say this is a fairly easy task.

I was looking at the ( 1996 ) Mercury Tracer Owner Guide and it shows

that the engine cooling system capacity for the manual transaxle

( transmission ) is 5.3 U.S. quarts and for the automatic is 6.3

* it came from the factory with a 50 / 50 mix of distilled water and

antifreeze , so it would take ( 2.65 to 3.15 quarts of antifreeze )

for a 50 / 50 mix ( manual / automatic )

Don't know where the wiper motor is, but, the WINDSHIELD WASHER PUMP is: UNDER HOOD, PASSENGER SIDE, FRONT ENGINE AREA, CORNER, MOUNTED ON FENDERWELL.

The oil pressure sending unit is just pass the end of the back of the starter on the firewall side of the engine . It is about an inch around and has a center single connection. You can also look several inches to the left of the oil filter.

Does it turn over?

Is it getting fuel?

Is it getting spark?

PULL THE DIPSTICK ! * The dipstick is located between the engine and battery on the driver's side.

it is located on the right side of the engine if your looking atthe top of the engine its about in the middle straight down on the right side there is a black cap that is star shaped if about your forearms lenght down the cap says ATF fluid only you will need a long funnel to get the fluid in the resivour. On the underside of the cap is a dipstick type tube that shows you the lvl its important that you don't over fill so go I about the second line or just before it hope this helps you Good luck

If it doesn't specifically say power steering fluid only you can use Mercon automatic transmission fluid.

Your brake pedal may not be touching the sending unit to turn off the brake light. Try having somebody look while you pull up the brake pedal with your foot. You can adjust the unit to be closer to the brake pedal. There is no room to work, so have fun.

There is a small plastic disc/spacer between the brake pedal arm and the brake switch that often fractures and falls off. It is about the size of a nickel, and has a small post attached to it--costs about $3.00 at a Mercury dealership. Hi I have a 97 Mercury Tracer and when my brake light comes on I check my tire pressure if one or more is low I put air in and my Brake light goes out every time.

the seal/seals on the top of your fuel pump- located in your gas tank may be leaking. if it only smells when you fill up- try only putting in 3/4 of a tank- and see if it still smells. there are 2 lines coming out of the pump that need to be sealed or they will leak when the tank is full- need to either replace the pump - or use some sealant like seal-all- still need to pull the tank which is pretty hard, but nuts and bolts type of stuff. the pump line runs under the back seat and you need to lift it up to unplug the pump

go to the Dayco belt website. they have system there for you to put in your make model and engine size ... they have the routing diagram for all the belts. It's a great service

It is 1-3-4-2.

it is an easy task if you have the right toolage... you will need a socket set, socket wrench, a breaker bar, hex sockets, pry bar, flash light, MAPP gas torch, penetration lube, w-d 40, and wrenches and maybe some torx bits too.... Removals.... - Wheel - Disc and Caliber - Tie rod - Ball joint - steering link - cv/ axle bolt to the hub - take off the hub (bearing and hub might be one assembly) - if not remove bearing Installation is the opposite... remember to look for torque specs...

You will probably find that there is a black metal tube coming up from the front of the engine that goes to the vacuum junction on the intake manifold area. In the middle of the tube where the heavy metal part meets the smaller plastic tube is where it should be. It should be very easy to replace, and cheap.

I can't say with certainty, because I have a '95 model, but I would imagine that it's close. On the '95, the starter is located behind and to the bottom of the engine block, which makes it near impossible to get at without getting the car raised up at least a couple of feet so you can get under it to work on it. I have access to a lift, and that - of course - makes a world of difference. The starter is connected to the baterry, so you can also locate it by following the wiring from the battery

Check your engine timing, it may be too slow.

I have the same issue on my '93. From what I've researched, the most common cause is bad motor and/or tranny mounts. Also, some people have said that the idle needed to be turned up a little. If you're at a stop light with the car in gear, try giving it a little gas while holding down on the brake FIRMLY. Does the car stop vibrating?

Retained Accessory Power Module. It controls your radio and windows, so when you turn your car off, it will keep the radio on and let you roll up/down your windows until you open up your door. I have to replace mine today because there is a short in mine and i have no radio and my window is stuck half way up. Hope this answered your question.

You are decelerating, and as you do so you are transfering quite a bit of energy to the brakes. That is why brakes can get very hot. The kinetic energy of the moving car is converted to friction on the brake pads.

The starter is positioned at the rear bottom of engine but almost in the dead center, close to the firewall and slightly to the right of driver's side front tire. It is difficult to see from above. The best way to find it is to locate the oil filter. The starter is positioned directly beside it. Slide under the car and find the oil filter. Place your hand on the oil filter and slide it to left -- the next object you touch is the starter.

Look at the rear bottom of the engine driver's side
