Mercury Tracer

I just bought an alternator for my 99 mercury tracer from advance auto parts last night, it was $135 plus tax. as he scrolled down the screen of inventory, i saw them priced anywhere from $125 - $220.

I was looking at the ( 1998 ) Mercury Tracer Owner Guide and it shows to :

Move the back tires to the front ( staying on the same side of the vehicle )

and then take the two front tires and put them on the back ( crossing over to

the opposite side of the vehicle )

700 \rpms

Use mercron automatic tranmission fluid and do not overfill.

not sure,,,,,,same problem here not sure if it ia a cable or eletronic. May be a relay or something. If I find out I will post

I've gotten closer to answering this question myself. The automatic seat belts were not moving at all. I checked the fuse under the dash, replaced it, and they now work. The problem is, the driver-side belt clip gets stuck halfway upon returning to the upright position. It seems a previous owner didn't know about the fuse problem, and tried jarring it back themselves. Is there a track loose, or could something be lodged in the way of the belt clip?

most likely is air in the system so you need to bleed brakes , or you have a component leaking fluid. inspect all calipers and wheel cylinders for fluid leaks. it might be a master cylinder leak / malfunction also. but air is most likely.

You need an OBD2 code reader. Bear in mind that reseting the engine light won't do you any good if you haven't corrected the problem that triggered it in the first place.

5w-20 seems to be the norm for cars in that year ... check your manual if you have one
