Can't be adjusted -- automatically done (hydraulically). Check the two clutch cylinders, master and slave. If the reservoir at the top is full and the cylinders aren't leaking, sell the car.

On a 1999 Mercury Tracer :

I BELIEVE that is ( 48.5 litres / 12.8 U.S. gallons ) like it is on the 1998 model

The 1998 Mercury Tracer owners manual shows : 4.0 quarts ( 3.8 liters ) with oil filter change

Turn on the RIGHT turn signal then get out of the vehicle and see which lights are flashing. Count the number of bulbs that are flashing on the back of the vehicle and on the front.

Then turn on the LEFT turn signal and check again. Usually a rapid turn signal indicates that one or more bulb has failed.

It is located on the front crossmember near the bottom of the radiator. It has 2 10mm screws attaching it to the chassis, if you clean the bolts abd where the horn meets the frame you will fix the ground circuit and the horn may work again with out a new part. ( at least it always has on my car)

Located in a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose Drain about 1 gallon of coolant from the radiator

Remove this housing

Note how thermostat is installed

Clean both surfaces

Replace thermostat and gasket

Replace housing

Re-fill coolant slowly to prevent an air lock

Start engine and look for leaks

Run engine to normal operating temperature with heater on

Re-check coolant level

The mass air flow metre, is on the air inlet, I had mine replaced on my 270cdi, the mechanic took minutes to replace it, the sensor has a black rubber sealing the back end, you need a flat screwdriver to remove it.

Every so often I have to clean out the throttle body of gunk from the recirculated gases that get fed into the intake. I'd start there. You may find while cleaning it that your idle air valve is gunked up too. That's the valve that allows a certain amount of air past the throttle body to keep the idle even. Obviously, the idle air valve could be the culprit too.

Use the appropriate socket on the nut and tighten it. Make sure the cable is in the correct position first.

it's on the firewall on the passenger side. There are (2) side by side.

Take off the radiator cap while cool. Open the radiator and start to drain into a bucket. Use water hose to run water into the radiator until the water drains clear.

The engine and transmission must be a normal operating temperature before attempting to read the fluid level on the dipstick. Drive the car a few miles, then while stopped with the brakes applies, put it in each gear slowly and return to Park in the same manner. Leave the engine running, then check the dipstick level. If it is low, add a little bit at a time and recheck the level. You will do great harm to the transmission by overfilling it, so that is why to add a little amount at a time to make sure it does not get over filled.

Water collects on the interior floor when the air conditioner is used # Air conditioner evaporator drain hose is blocked. Clear the drain hose where it exits the passenger compartment. # Air conditioner evaporator drain hose is disconnected. Secure the drain hose to the evaporator drainage tray under the dashboard.

Console needs to come out. It is a 2 piece unit held in by 6 Phillips head bolts, 3 per side, on the side. Rear lifts out first, then the front over the shift knob, which I take out but you don't have to. Four more Phillips head bolts hold the plastic indicator to the chassis; take those out, flip the indicator over then twist out the bad bulb. A 193 or some such -- auto parts store can tell you the right one.

A lot of vehicles require that the brake pedal be pressed. Another one if shift lever is on column is that you have to pull up on lever; if on the floor should be a push button or a pull lever or just the requirement to press on brake pedal. Otherwise a problem with the linkage.

I have been looking for the relays on my 1999 Tracer and it looks like I may have found them to be located behind the Interior fuse box....sort of piggybacked behind the drivers side under-the-dash fuses.

I'd use 5w-30 year round, or you can use the 5w-30 during the winter and 10w-30 during the summer if you live somewhere hot.

if it is a station wagon , like mine, the fuel relay is under the center console passenger side,behind,the trim from console to dash.so is the ecm, too1

are you sure it is not the sending unit
