Why would the interior lights flicker on a 1995 Mitsubishi montero while driving?
Sometimes when cornering, the overhead lights will flicker on in that model car. This is due to a flaw in the switch mechanism design, which holds the relay connection slightly apart from the bulb (when they touch the light is energized and turns on). When the car turns the centrifugal force will bring these two points together and the light turns on. To fix this, remove the plastic dome and switch cover and look for a tightening screw. If there is not a screw, you may be out of luck. If there is, tightening it should prevent this random flicker.
What will i do if my radio Montero of serial no 96d15937 ask me for code?
You should have the radio's code when you bought the vehicle NEW. The dealer can provide you with the code for FREE only if the radio originally came with the car OR if you can provide the VIN # of the vehicle where the radio was taken out from ... The radio's Serial# should match the vehicle's VIN #. Otherwise, the dealer will have to do a research and they'll charge you for it ... BIG BUCKS ... but the dealer should be able to help you provide the code. The alternate way without spending any bucks is do it the old fashioned way. Get a 12V transformer and enter the codes by trial and error. It locks after every third try so, to unlock, disconnect power after every series of three tries for about 3 sec to clear the memory then power it back on again. It's repeatitious and boring but you want to save some bucks, don't you? So make a list from 0001 to 9999 and start crossing out codes that don't work. You can do 10 today, 25 tomorrow, etc... I did mine in 6,973 combination tries and mine has 5-digit code (Honda). Mitsubishi i think has only 4-digit. So you have less work to do.........

What does the manifold pressure sensor do?
The Manifold Pressure Sensor (also known as the Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor or the Manifold Differential Sensor) is a device that is used to calibrate the fuel delivery on most modern ECU Controlled (computerized) engines.
Used predominantly after the institution of the OBD-II (On-Board Diagnostics), it is used to calculate the difference between manifold pressure (measured in inches of mercury) and ambient or atmospheric pressure. The computer uses this sensor to determine, based on the differential between the two, the conditions present requiring the fuel delivery to be adjusted.
At higher altitudes, the ambient pressure is lower, reducing the value when comparing the two readings. At lower altitudes, the atmospheric pressure is higher, generating a larger number. The larger the number, the less fuel is delivered, as decreased atmospheric pressure indicates (under normal conditions) a decrease in the density of the air and thereby a decrease in available oxygen, the second component required for efficient combustion.
Additionally, when the throttle plate is opened, the value generated by the Manifold Pressure Sensor (usually called the MAP) is reduced as the pressures equalize. This tells the computer that the operator is attempting to accelerate, adjusting timing, injector pulse width and other sub-systems to assure proper and efficient response.
Why does the wheel lock light stay on in my Mitsubishi Triton?
A leak in the vacuum pressure pipes is he cause why the green "wheel lock" light in a Mitsubishi L200 4WD Diesel pickup truck is the cause why it's on continuously.
In a friends case the vacuum pressure supply pipe of the switch for slightly higher stationary revs (prob for AC) is leaking. The small rubber pipe is worn by the power brake vacuum pipe due to engine vibrations. When this pipe is leaking there is no vacuum for switching off the front hubs, hence the green "wheel lock" light on the dashboard. Consequently the front axle rod keeps turning.
See the related links for a picture of the malfunction.

2002 Mitsubishi Montero sport stalling when put in gear?
This problem can occur if you've recently replaced your battery or the battery was disconnected for a while, the vehicle's computer must do what is referred to as "Relearn".
Basically, restart the engine, let it run for a few minutes and try to put it in gear, either in neutral or drive. You may have to try a couple of times. Rev the engine a few times until it stays on. This has worked for me on two occasions after replacing my batteries. Do not go out in traffic until you are certain that it has relearned, otherwise it will continue to stall. The advice came from a good service tech where I purchased the Montero.

Where is the air filter located on a Mitsubishi Montero?
well, let me preface this by saying that if you don't even know how to find the air filter, then you shouldn't be doing --anything-- under the hood!
however, if you insist, then open the hood, and look at the top center of your engine. there is a large corrugated (wrinkled up) tube that comes off of it and goes off to the side (on my '91 it goes to the left.) and ends in a bell housing about the size of a curled up cat. (hopefully you know what -that- is...)
around the edges, there will be clips that hold the housing together. unclip them. this should be done by hand, with no tools needed. if you need a tool, you're not doing it right, so take it to a mechanic and only open the hood to check your oil. nothing else.
ok, so, hopefully by now you've got the clips undone. there is an air handling manifold that sticks inside the bell housing and filter, so you must pull it out pretty straight, but don't worry about the air line, as this is why it's corrugated, so it can bend with no damage. then, inside the bell housing, you will find the filter. there are three tabs located around the housing edge that fit into reccesses in the filter to keep it properly aligned. make a note of them, and be sure to put your new filter back in with the tabs aligned. then stick the manifold back in, re attach the clips, and boom. you're done. now leave the rest to someone who knows what they're doing. or get a book or something.
sheesh.
