Assuming your plugs,wires,dis cap,and rotor button have been replaced.The number 1 cause is the fuel injection.I forget now what they call it..csfi i think,anyway you convert it to multiport injection.The part is about $350,bosch makes it,any good parts store will have it on hand.comes with all injectors and fuel regulator all in 1.Chevy had a service bullentin about it years ago.When it goes out it causes a very rough idle,very rich condition to the point it puffs black smoke when revved up,gas mileage is about 10 miles a gallon...

The thermostat is located under the alternator and is attached to the bottom radiator hose. There are four bolts holding the thermostat housing to the block and two bolts connecting the housing to the bottom radiator hose. Remove the housing. You will need to use liquid gasket maker as there are no longer gaskets for the thermostat.

Bottom of radiator on driver side. open radiator cap, and turn drain plug at bottom counter clockwise, you should see the water/coolant drain out. Once empty, place water hose on radiator and let it flush for a few minutes or till you see the water come out clear, shut off the water, let radiator drain, screw drain plug back in place and fill radiator with a mixture or 50/50 water/coolant.

start by removing the battery to have easier access to the transaxle then the intake and maf sensor together. Take out the clutch cable or the hydraulic slave depending on which one you have. Then take out all the connectors and sensors. Remove the starter. Then take out the speedometer cable. Then support the engine from up top if you have no way of supporting it proceed to take out the wheels and axles gear oil will be lost so have a pan ready. Then take out the center frame bar. Then support engine and start removing transmission mount and bellhousing bolts and remove trans. Remove pressure plate in criss cross pattern. Install in reverse. Pressure plate to flywheel torque specs are 16-22ft lbs
pull off the cover, but if it is already exposed just disconect the one that has been put on. you will need a small Phillips head and the power connecters are two small prongs underneath the cover. simple, you can do it.
