What is the purpose of toenails?
Toenails serve to protect the tips of our toes from injury and provide support for the soft tissues underneath. They also help to improve our sense of touch and aid in maintaining balance while walking or running.
I don't think at the moment it is possible to "capture" smell in the way that we can with sound and vision.
First you would need to build a mechanical nose that can pick up and identify smells, then you could have that turn it into little 1s and 0s, and then you could take those ones and zeros and put them into a machine that can MAKE smells. That would be the hard part. If perhaps we had a few 'base smells' that all other smells could be made from, and these smells were available in liquid form, you would only have to mix the bases to form any one smell (the mechanical nose could tell the machine how to do this).
I don't think such a thing would be 100% accurate, though.
However, with perfume and the like, certain smells become widely available to the public, which, in a sense, is capturing them.
Parasitic forms are organisms that live on or inside a host organism, known as the host, and rely on the host for their survival and reproduction. They obtain nutrients from the host while potentially causing harm or disease to the host in the process. Parasitic forms can include various pathogens, such as parasites, viruses, and bacteria.
What is the best method for analyzing an unknown compound in aqueous form?
There are a number of ways and it depends what you want to know (and already know) about the unknown compound. If it is an acid or a base, you can do a titration. If it is colored, you can measured the absorption spectrum by UV/Vis spectroscopy. If you have a good idea what the unknown compound could be (or a few options anyway), there may be a specific test for those particular compounds.

What is the purpose of a phalanx?
A phalanx is a formation used in battle. Soldiers line up shoulder to shoulder with their shields overlapping each other. This is to protect the soldier to their left. The right flank is the most vulnerable place in a phalanx and is where the most expierienced soldiers were put. Spears were used in this formation. With huge shields protecting them and spears protruding it was a dangerous formation to charge. It was used often by the Greeks who put it to well use.
Essentially, its purpose was to crush the enemy by momentum and 'pushing power' as well impale them on the spears. From the front, it was almost impossible to resist except with another phalanx. However, if it was flanked or the formation was broken it was extremely vulnerable.

Pick out the plural form is it fungi news crisis or marchioness?
It's the only one not ending with 's': 'fungi' is the plural of "fungus'.
probability of including any DNA sequence in a random libray of N independent recombinants:
N= [ln(1-P)] / [ln(1-1/n)]
where n= genome size /average insert size
in theory, a genomic library should contain all the different sequences,
but in practice, a genomic libray is never perfect.
Buoys are floating devices used in bodies of water to mark channels, hazards, or provide navigational information to ships and boats. They typically have distinctive shapes, colors, and markings to help sailors understand their meaning and location. Buoys play a critical role in maritime safety and navigation.
What does a langlier index of -3 indicate?
A good saturation index is falls between .3 and -.3, with a range of .5 to -.5 being acceptable. A negative number indicates corrosive water, which is bad for concrete, metal and plaster surfaces. A positive number may deposit scale or cause cloudy water. Water with a result of zero (0) is neither corrosive nor scale-forming. The index takes into consideration a number of factors: calcium hardness, alkalinity, pH, water temperature, and total disolved solids (TDS). These items are assigned a number and then plugged into a formula. This saturation index was developed by Professor W.F. Langelier from the Univeristy of California.

Avoid heavy, greasy foods that may sit heavily in your stomach and impact performance. Remember to stay hydrated with water and maybe sports drinks for electrolyte balance.
Temperature is typically plotted on the y-axis, while time or another independent variable is plotted on the x-axis. A line graph is commonly used to show how temperature changes over time or with a changing independent variable. Temperature data points are connected with straight or curved lines to represent the trend or pattern.

Why do you zero the spectrophotometer on 0 and 100 transmittance and not absorbancy?
None of the physical materials in the world are perfectly transparent. Even when light passes through air, some part of it gets scattered due to dust particles on its way. however, when one is interested in knowing the transparency of a material ( solid/liquid), such losses can be held constant and the photometer can be calibrated to estimate the trasmittance(transparency) by selecting the endpoints. for example, if a piece of thick black India rubber is held between a source of light and the detector, one can set the output to read zero transmittance and after removing it to 100 % transmittance. If any material is now held between the two, the output will show a change in transmittance that truly responds to only the sample and no other interfering inputs. With absorbance, this may not be true since in certain cases, the loss attributed to absorbance might in fact be due to other mechanisms such as scaterring or (regular)reflection.
