Even after the radiator is drained there is still about 3-4 quarts in the engine and heater core lines. to completely replace all coolant you will need to flush the system with water and consider the remaining water in the system into your 50-50 mix ratio.

When installing new radiator be sure to use new fittings put teflon tape on transmission lines. replace rest in reverse order. Be sure to bleed air out of system by cracking the bleeder on the coolant rail while engine is cold wait for it to start spitting coolant then close it. recheck coolant after engine cools off again and Viola.

usually after the car has had a chance to cool down, the hose should be "spongey" when it is grasped, but after attaining operating temperature, the hose should become firm as the cooling system presurizes up. it will remain so, again, until the engine/cooling system cools down. Dont ever open the radiator cap when the engine has been run to operating temperature or not had a chance to cool down adequately, the pressurized system is very hot and you risk serious injury!!!

Im not going to erase that guys answer cause that is true, but im some cases those things wont budge at all, so if that is the case with your Dodge Spirit just keep the fluids full and in a day or two the coolant system will aventually bleed itself... that's what I always do insted of messing with that screw and it works everytime.

Unlike other cars' drain plugs that look like WING NUTS, this looks like a fat plastic screw that is driven (and loosened) by a big fat Phillips screwdriver.
Another tip: It is almost flush with the bottom of the radiator surface (that is, it does not stick out, it is kind of recessed), and it goes in and comes out in the direction of straight up to the sky (unlike some that unscrew on an invisible line that is parallel to the ground and in the direction of out in front of the car).
Another tip: To get at the drain plug, your fat PHILLIPS SCREW DRIVER has to get around a piece of plastic moulding that is just beneath the radiator. You will approach the drain plug from the aft side of this moulding. To make it easier, melt a 1/2-inch hole in that molding by heating a fat bolt on the kitchen stove, held by a pair of vice grips, until the bolt is red hot. Then walk out to the garage, lay down with your feet out the front of the vehicle, and on the passenger (right) side of the radiator, push the hot bolt thru the soft plastic in a pre-selected location that you have confirmed - with a flashlight - is just under the drain plug. Now the process of unscrewing that plug will be a 10-second job and very, very easy. Or, if you don't want to melt that access hole, use a short stubby 3-inch long PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER instead of a standard 7- or 9-inch one.
One cause could be a plugged heater core. Another cause could be coolant passages in the engine being blocked. Check the fan to make sure it is coming on at the correct temperature.

You can blow into it. that hose will only really be open to the radiator when too much pressure has built up and your radiator cap releases pressure into the overflow. All other times the tubes access to the radiator is blocked by a properly functioning radiator cap.

You must have the whole front of car took of or put in "service position" it does come of relatively easy. I'm not sure if radiator separates from rad support or if radiator and support are all one unit. Put in service position and go from there.. Hope this helps
