How do you stop a car from smoking?
Take away its cigar.... but seriously there are some engine treatments that can help if the problem is minimal, you can find them at the parts store, but the only real solution in the end is to have the engine rebuilt.
there is a special harness kit for Monte carlos it relocates your factory radio to the trunk stupid but that's what ya gotta do. the part number is GM06B cost varys from $40-60 depending on where you buy itYou don't need to buy that module, 2001 Monte Carlo oil life reset is car on accs pump gas pedal 3 times, low tire light reset is car on accs lights on and off 4 times. you require a module from metra gmos-04 that will allow your door chrime an warning light chimes to work also on star if equipt.OR
Have a professional do it or if your up to it, you can DIY with a few mods. You will loose the radio features such as chimes and tire pressure reset etc. but, install the radio in the normal fashion into the dash. a little modification to the dash cover is sometimes necessary depending on the radio. Hook up the aftermarket radio to the GM color codes below. The ACC will not work with this type install and you must read all the way for this to work. Find a new spot in the fuse box that works off the key (a tester is needed) wire this new wire to the ACC wire of your radio. You MUST have an antenna adapter for an aftermarket radio. Reinstall the radio/dash/etc.
Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Orange
(There is sometimes two orange. Use the "Hot" one.
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Yellow
(The yellow wire will not work, run a new as previously mentioned)
Car Radio Ground Wire: Black
Car Radio Illumination Wire: Gray
(Use only if your new radio has this feature)
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Tan
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Light Green
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Dark Green
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Brown
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Dark Blue
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Light Blue
After the install, Go to the trunk and locate the Gmos box in the trunk. (looks like a small aluminum amp) unplug the Large plug from the module (box) and notice its the same plug that was in you radio. Locate and cut the speaker wire colors above and also cut the same number of wire directly across from them on the other side of the plug. There should be two wires left in the plug when your done. Connect the wires as follows:
LF(+) Tan connects to Blue w/ white stripe
LF(-) Grey Connects to Green w/ Black stripe
RF(+) Light Green connects to Blue with black stripe
RF(-) Dark Green connects to Dark Green
LR(+) Brown connects to Tan**
LR(-) Yellow connects to White
RR(+) Dark Blue connects to red
RR (-) Light blue connects to Tan**
**There are two tan wires the same color in this group keep them beside their corresponding color where they were in the plug. If the rear speakers don't play then swap these two.
Wire nut and/or tape these and plug the plug back in the module (not that it will do anything now) and your radio is "Good-to-go"
Good luck!

Where is the speed sensor located on a 1998 Toyota rav4?
Finally found it after an hour of looking. To see and gain access, you need to remove the front driver side wheel. Look in with a flashlight . It is close to the power steering stuff. Of course it it a real pain to reach in and remove. Took me a few hours to change. There are 2 sensors, the VSS is the furthest and hardest to reach.
the fan might be running constantlty because a temperature sensor is not working or is disconnected. there may be more than one temperature sensor - one that the gauge in the dashboard reads from and another one for the engine management systems. it's probably the latter that is the problem. I've had problems with my car overheating and I've figured out that if i just disconnect that sensor the fan runs nonstop.
Where is the oil filter located on the Toyota four runner?
Depending on your engine. On a 22-RE 4 cyl it is located on the right side of the engine. You can see it through the passenger wheel well.
I guess it would depend on how you reset your cars computer?? Did the dealers do it?(witch i recomend). or did you just dissconect the battery for a couple of minutes?? Or maybe you have to get a diagnostics done, too see if there is something you are not aware of. Good luck!

Can a 2001 rav 4 haul a queen size bed on the roof?
Yes, but it would be very difficult and unsafe. You could possibly get pulled over. A Rav 4 is capable, but try it for yourself and you'll see. If you have to do it, roll down your windows run straps through your windows and over the matress. Drive slowly so that the wind doesn't try to pull the matress. Stay preferably on side-roads with a low speed limit, and consider using your caution lights. Good luck.
What does the exclamation point warning light on Toyota RAV 4 mean?
I think it is the tire pressure indicator light. I recently got new tires (not from the dealer) and mine has repeatedly been coming on. The owner's manual refers to a button you can push to turn it off, but doesn't say where it its located. My button is below and to the right of the steering wheel.

Where is ecm located on a 2002 Toyota RAV4 2.0liter?
It is right behind the passenger glove box. Open the glove box then squeeze inward on the glove box sides and pull the glovebox open even more until it is basically hanging upside down near the floor by its bottom hinge. You can then see the ECM towards the right side (where the glovebox used to be), the metal box with 5 wiring harnesses attached to it.

My front wheel drive Toyota Rav 4 rear tires are severely cupped and the printout from the wheel alignment says that the rear wheel alignment is within specification. Plus the dealer told me that the recall for the rear wheels does not effect this problem. Also the standard procedure for the recall shows that the nuts for the rear wheels alignment adjustment were torqued correctly from the factory and therefore the rear alignment has probably not moved since the factory. I am a newly retired engineer and my opinion based on the information I have is that cupping of both rear tires plus excessive rear tire noise is a problem with the Rav 4 Toyota product.
How do you replace a cabin filter on a 1999 Ford Contour?
The filter is located under the windshield cowl on the passenger side. Turn the wipers on till they reach the middle of the window, shut them off so they are pointing up. There are 4 screws that hold it in place. 2 are under a plastic cap on the top, and 2 are on the firewall. Remove them then lift the cowl up and there it is.

How to change Toyota parking light?
Wanted to get the answer here, - heck, had to figure it out on my own... mine is Corolla 96, front parking light Replace a bulb - big deal, but you've gotta get it out first. Here is HOW:
1) Open the hood. There is a flat head screw next to your parking light, - easy to find. Remove it. DO NOT DROP IT INSIDE - that was my mistake...
2) That was the ONLY screw holding the light. Now pull the thing straight forward... ONLY STRAIGHT... harder... pry it with a screwdriver from back, - it won't break, not this time yet... Pop! - it's all yours.
3) The rest is trivial: turn the socket, replace the bulb. Assemble in backwards order, it's much easier.
