The cabin air filter for all Solara models is directly behind the glove box.

The glove box is removed by taking out a screw at the lower right side (while the box is open). Push the sides of the box together, and the glove box will pivot out and aim at the ground. Make sure to empty the box first! Behind the glove box, you will see a removable rectangular cover. I have seen these be either black or clear/white plastic. Remove this cover by pressing in the side tabs, and the filter will come out very easily.

Note which side the spongy seal is on - the top or the bottom side. Replace the old filter with the new, and slide it back into place.

While the filter is out, you might note any leaves or anything around the filter container still in the vehicle, and clean them out before putting in the new filter.

The job will take about 10 minutes. You need a Phillips screwdriver, and good light to see.

Its located behind the engine, below the intake manifold hooked to the trans mission, its held in with 2 bolts and 1 nut on a stud. It is pretty simple to do just can be a knuckle buster... Just make sure that you disconnect the battery or else you might get some good sparks going.

"Check Engine / Trac off" warning lights came on at the same, but the car runs fine.

It is possibly either the "Oxygen Sensors" or "Gas Cap" didn't get tighten enough.

I would take it to an automobile arts place like Autozone they will do the diags usually for free and then you would and have the computer codes to help narrow down the problem.

OS Sensor will run you around $90-$135 just for the part.

It's ok to drive the car; it will not hurt the vehicle.

I do want to add want thing and that is you need to read the code to see what it is. Right, it could be as simple as an O2 sensor (perhaps code ..041) or more complicated (code P0446), a gas cap and/or a charcoal canister replacement.

UPDATE: I had a code P0446. First replaced the gas cap, $30 from Lexus dealer, but did not help. Replaced charcoal/vapor canister ($350 from Toyota dealer using part number written on the canister). Bingo, both CEL AND Trac off went away!. However, replacing the canister took me about 3 hrs as it's located near the gas tank and above the rear axle--what a pain.

There are 2 holes on both sides of you radio that are an inch apart, they take a special tool shaped like a horseshoe. you first insert the tools in till you feel and hear a "click" then you want to aply outward pressure to the ends of the tools at the same time pull out the radio, it myght take some effort.

If the rear window is not fully closed the rear wiper will not operate.

The procedure is identical since they're both Gen 2 Solara's ('04-06) Tip: Download the factory service manual from Toyota and you'll have the full step by step explanation along with pictures. The best I can do here is give you the step by step as a cut/paste from the manual. Radio Receiver Assy Replacement. 1. Remove shift lever knob sub assembly 2. Remove console upper rear panel 3. Remove console panel upper 4. Remove instrument cluster finish panel center 5. Remove center cluster integration panel, remove four bolts. 6. Disconnect electrical connectors. 7. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the center cluster integration panel assembly. 8. Remove radio bracket #1 by removing 6 screws Voila, the radio is out! Assembly is reverse.

This has been answered several times. Open the glove box door. Remove the Allen screw holding the snubber over on the right side of the box. Pull the snubber off. Pinch the glove box on each side to release the box.It will swing down and you can take it off. The cabin air filter is located above the blower motor and is a different color than the blower housing. Release the tabs and pull it out. The new filter has instructions for replacing the element. It is directional. WalMart now carries Fram cabin air filter elements. Look in the Fram application booklet hanging in the filter section.

Need to correct the problem and get a scanner to cancel the check engine light... Also, remove the negative battery terminal for a few minutes and the ECU will cancel the codes; but they will return if the problem has not been corrected.
