What is the difference between a cabrio and cabriolet?
cabrio's were made from 1995-2002. cabriolet is anything older than 1995.
You should be able to reach the child lock around the side of the seat back. Get in the back seat.Go to the height of the lock on the seat back. Pull the seat back away from the door. You should be able to see the child lock. You may need a screwdriver to trip the lock. I know this works, I've done it several times on my 92 Prism (Toyota). You can locate it easier by looking at the other door. I also did it in less than a minute. This is how you can open it, its so easy.
If this is a 2 lane road, then the vehicle the went around would be at fault since it went out of it's lane and attempted to pass on the right.
How do change the clutch on your 87 cabriolet?
I have done this twice and both times pulled the engine and transaxle as a unit then split them once out being careful not to put pressure on the output shaft. This way you can do the crank seals as well. I have read where others have dropped the transaxle while in the car and then proceeded with replacing the clutch, but even then the trans and front mounts have to be unloaded so you have to support the engine because only one mount point is connected. I recommend that you change out the flywheel bolts and pressure plate mount bolts as well. While the tranny is out you might as well change the rear seal, output shaft seals, pilot seal, and the shift fork as well. A lot of work, but well worth it if your clutch is going and not really a bad job if you have the tools, time, and a place to work. Engine pull can be done in half a day, label all connections and change out your mounts as well. This can be done in a weekend as i have done this all by myself without assistance...again, twice. Also not when you remove the bolts from the CV inner shells to the output shafts to take your time and clean each one first with a tooth pick...makes the job easier. A Bentley manual is a must in my opinion. Hope this helps.

Why steering wheel isn't sturdy on a 1985 VW cabriolet?
the bearing at the bottom of the sterring column is kept in place by a plastic ring and that plastic ring breaks and allows the bearing to fall down which creates play in the sterring column.I put the bearing back in place and wrapped rubber bands around the column with glue and that seamed to work.
Does a 1987 Volkswagen Cabriolet convertible have power steering?
Yes, Most Cabriolets do have power steering, but there are a few that don't. In my opinion you dont need it anyway. It is such a light little car. I took my power steering out of my '86 Cabriolet and installed a manual rack, because it was cheaper. The P.S. pump alone runs about $200 and the rack runs about another $150. I bought a new manual rack for $105. It steers very easily even when sitting still.
Is a small amount of water coming from the auto exhaust a bad thing?
It's normal condensation. That's why you can see your exhaust more in the winter when the air is cold. Just a little side bar fact: people that usually drive short distances periodically (like if you work a couple miles from your house) have there mufflers rust a part quicker due to the fact that the condensation doesn't get blown all the way out of the exhaust so it causes internal rusting. It's condensation unless it smells 'sweet'. If it has a definite anti-freeze sweet smell then this would suggest a leaking head gasket. If it's just a little water, especially during short drives, don't worry about it.
How do you park on a hill in a 1989 Volkswagen cabriolet?
You want to park the car with the front wheels turned toward the curb so if the emergency brake were to fail the car would simply roll into the curb and stop. Put the car in first gear if it is a manual tranny and set emergency brake.
How many passenger seats does a VW Beetle have?
There are 3 passenger seats; one in front next to driver and room for two more in the back seat so long as they are small people.
What kind of mechanical issues do 1987 vw cabriolet typically have?
Great car in general. Issues will be dependent on how well it was kept/ how long it has seen salt, snow etc. The engines and transmission are very hardy. But on a car that age your top will probably need replacing, as with the exhaust system, CV boots, and probably the suspension if it's not been done. Basically, many of the rubber parts will have disintegrated quite a bit if this car's not been hidden in a garage in Arizona.

How do you change the headlights on a 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio?
I just changed the headlights on my roommate's 2002 Cabrio, but I followed the instructions given for a 2001. What you have to do is: 1. Move the metal wire holding the black cover to the side and remove the black cover. 2. Remove the power cord from the bulb itself and push to the side. 3. You will see a pin holding the headlight in. Squeeze the pin (you want to squeeze closer to the top of the pin, which is the closed end; don't squeeze the open ends because all you will do is get irritated and hurt your fingers), then push it back and down. What this will do is move the pin away and then out from those little metal tabs that its going through. One side will pop out, then the other. When you get it out, the pin should be standing up, with the closed end pointing up. You can then remove the bulb and replace. Popping the pin back in is a heck of a lot easier than getting it out! I was able to remove the cover, but I got totally stumped on the pin. I hope this helps you out, it may be a little confusing but its kind of difficult to describe. Maybe this will at least point you in the right direction!

Why does my1997 VW Cabrio keep stalling dist cap plugs changed Service station is stumped Any ideas?
I would replace the fuel filter. It might be letting just enough fuel by to start the engine, but not let it run very long. When the engine starves itself out (stalls) a little more fuel trickles through the plugged filter so you can restart the engine.
What causes 1989 Chevrolet to stall when turning?
There's a high pressure switch on the power steering line that activates when the steering wheel is turned all the way in any direction. This activates the AC compressor, which raises the RPM's. If the switch is not working, then the vehicle could stall.
Your fuel pump is located there and it could be the bearings on the pump or it could be getting air in the fuel is a lubricant for the bearings and when there is no fuel it is possible you could hear the bearings - my guess your fuel pump is packin up but do check for air leaks
Where can you find a fuse box diagram for a 1982 VW Fox Cabriolet?
To my knowledge there never was a 1982 VW Fox cabby, Foxes were imported from Brazil starting in 1987.
In the US I remember test driving a VW Fox wagon just before I bought my 1986 Hyundai Excel. Should have bought the Fox. And as far as I can remember, there was never a convertible Fox. Just a coupe, sedan and wagon.
Where is the idle control valve or IAC located on 96 geo tracker?
Hi, my book tells me that the Idle Air Control Assy is located on the right side of the throttle body. I'll have to take a look to because my '97 is fuel injected and I didn't think I had a throttle body but that's what the book says for the 1992-1998 1.6L and 1.8L engines. Hope this helps and that you have a warm place to check, we don't here, it has just snowed and it's about 28 deegrees F, good luck.
I just bought a new top for my '89. I found a website that had a detailed description of how to put it on. the top came with vague instructions that didn't help much. so, just google instructions for installation. they helped me out a lot. another helpful thing is to take pictures as you uninstall your old top so just in case you forget how it went on you can look at the photos.
Answer:Frame installation is the reverse of these removal instructions:
