Accidentally put 87 octane fuel into my 2000 New Beetle that takes 93 octane now the check engine light is on and nothing else is wrong so do I need to get it checked or just wait and refill with 93?

Is the gas cap tight? if it is loose your check engine light will come on,but the light should go off before you have to refill, provided the gas cap is tight.

How do turn on the fog lights on a 2003 VW bug?

Pull straight out on the headlight knob. The low beams must be on too. The knob will twist into the low beam position if they are off. This is how it is on a 1999 Beetle.

How do you check the transmission fluid on 1998 vw beetle?

A 1998 VW Beetle does not have a dipstick that you can check the transmission fluid with. Instead, there is a fill tube with a red cap on the side of the transmission. Take the red cap off and that is how you check the levels on this type of vehicle.

How do you repair a hood latch on a 1993 Olds Ciera S?

I assume you are talking about the hood latch cable. Replacing the hood latch itself is rather simple. Loosen the two bolts hold ing the latch in place and replace with a new or used one. For the cable, loosen the cable clip from the latch with two pairs of needle nose pliers. Attach a string to the clipped end. Inside the car where you would release your hood, you'll see two screws holding the release handle to the car. Take out these two screws and the handle should release itself. Note..you will have to remove some trim to get to handle initially but it should only be one small piece on the door side. Pull the handle and have someone else follow the string attached to the clipped end. When you get to the firewall you will have to push the bung through the wall with a screwdriver. Attach the new cable to the string and reverse the process.

Is there anything unusual about oil leaking from an axle boot that is about to be replaced in a 1970 Bug?

This is the inboard CV, the one bolted to the transmission, correct? CVs don't have oil in them, so Your Problem is you have a leaking transmission seal. Fortunately for you, the seal that's leaking is right under the CV, it costs three bucks and you can change it with the transmission still in the car. Just pry it out and put in a new one. Or better, pry both of 'em out and put in new ones. The one on the other side is the same age. Just that once a boot starts to leak you only have a sort distance to replace the boot or replace the entire CV-joint. If even a little contamination gets in the joint it will fail rapidly. Sometimes it is better to just replace the entire half-shaft rather than take a chance of needing to do the whole job over.

How do you change the spark plugs in a 95 Buick Skylark?

I believe there is a slightly finned top on this motor (quad 4). remove the bolts on this and it should remove the finned plate, giving access to the spark plugs underneath.

Do you have shocks and struts on your 2003 VW beetle?

I have NO idea!!!!!! ... do I?????

Funny answer^As do most front wheel drive vehicles, the new VW Beetle has front struts and rear shocks.

What kind of oil do you use in your 1974 vw super beetle?

Ask 10 different people and you'll get 10 different answers. Any name-brand to be safe.

The book says 30w but you can use the newer multi weight oils. 10w30 is fine or if you have a warmer climate most of the year then you could get away with 10w40.

Do VW bugs have radiator?

Old classic VW Beetles did not have a water filled radiator, however they did have a oil cooler located in the fan shroud that is similar to a radiator. New Beetles have a water filled radiator.

How do you program a vw remote for a 99 beetle?

Most often miss understood is programing. Programing the button REMOTE portion of the key is simple and referred to as matching.

You do need 2 keys. You must be able to lock the drivers door and have the red led alarm light next to the lock button blink. If it does not blink, the alarm does not know the door is closed and will not go into matching mode. Put one key in the ignition switch, turn on, do not start engine. Close the door, use 2nd key, turn door lock and hold in lock position for 10 seconds. Release key to neutral position.

Press a button on the remote, within 2 seconds press the same button again, the turn signal lights will flash,

this indicates your remote matches the car system and is now recognized. Unlock door remove key from ignition. Remote should now work

Would a 1600cc VW engine fit in a 1960 1200cc vw?

It's been done, but you have to send the bellhousing on the transmission out to be ground out. The bellhousing is for a 180mm flywheel, and a 1600 has a 200mm flywheel. In the bad old days before we knew any better, the accepted shade tree mechanic's way to do this was to pull the engine and the transmission out of the car, set them on the ground, bolt them together loosely--just enough so the starter would engage--start the engine, then pull the engine and transmission together with the bolts. This is extremely dangerous and you should never ever even think about doing this. No. I'm not nudge-nudge-wink-wink; this is dumber than dirt and you could get killed this way. I have no idea what people were thinking, and I'm almost certain beer was involved. Anyway, take the flywheel, engine and bellhousing to a machinist and tell the guy to make it fit.

How do you replace the radiator on a 1996 Dodge Stratus 4-cylinder 4 door front wheel drive car?

You have to drain the coolant either from the radiator drain or disconnecting the lower hose. You then have to disconnect/unbolt the electric fan. The coolant hoses at the radiator needs to be disconnected. Lastly the radiator needs to be unbolted, then lifted out. The new radiator can be installed the steps reversed, coolant topped off and bleed of any air.

Where is the radiator cap located on a 2000 VW beetle?

Well, lets see, would it be on the radiator?

what a smart aleck!

actually, to fill up the radiator with coolant, you have to fill up the resevoir. it is a round, plastic compartment, just above the washer fluid compartment on the top left side of the engine. There is a "maximum" line that you fill it up to.

How do you remove the starter motor on a 1998 punto?

Removing a Punto StarterThe starter motor is at the back of the engine block. I changed one Sunday on a 1997 60s from the top. Others say it is better from beneath, but unless you got a pit or a good ramp it is a bit awkward. I took all air filter of top of carb (2 nuts) then used 13mm ring spanner to take 2 bolts holding starter motor which screw from left to right into engine and another which srews from right to left going through engine block and screws into starter motor then I jiggled starter motor out and turned it around so I could get to the wires. There is only 3 wires, I think they were all red ones plastic cover was a bit fiddley to get back on, 1 thin wire with a ring connecter 1 abit thicker and 1 a bit fatter than a straw with like a metal bracket on it,make sure you take note of the position before removing as 2 wires fit one one top of the other and have to fit into the plastic cover, fitting new one put wires on first then bolt into position. Good Luck not that hard just fiddley.

This answer implies that 2 of the 3 bolts are reverse thread but I can confirm that all 3 bolts are normal thread. The left and right relates to direction of the bolt. 1 is accessed from the battery side, the other 2 from the centre.

Also be aware there is a group of 5 or so coloured wires that earth (all together) onto the engine block directly underneath the starter. As the starter can be awkward to get out and in when working from above, you can accidentally loosen this earthing, which is probably already corroded. This causes problems in the fuel pump relay and (in my case) non starting (and not due to the starter motor!!). When changing the starter, I would recommend disconnecting this earth strap first, cleaning up with emery cloth etc and reconnecting once the starter is back in place. Makes everything easier and more reliable.

Where is starter located on 1962 beetle?

Passenger side of vehicle , bolts on through rear of transaxle in front of engine .

Why does my headlight globe keep blowing and why is there very little spark on my Honda XR200 when it has a brand new CDI unit and i have checked all the wiring with a multimeter?

You did check the terminal voltage at the light and the voltage across the battery when revving the engine and found it to be correct, I hope. You should also check for tracking between the output terminal of the HT coil and it's positive terminal. After that, its trying to find the bad earth I'm afraid.

What dictator was involved in the creation of the vw beetle?

Hitler asked Dr. Ferdinand Porsche to design a car the working man could afford. Among the things he told Porsche was, make the car aerodynamic like a beetle. He also wanted the car to be priced at 1000 Marks, and to be sold through the Nazis' recreation organization "Kraft durch Freude." (in English, it means "Strength through Joy.") The car was to be called the KdF-wagen. So the working man could actually buy these cars, Hitler ordered a savings plan be developed. If you joined the plan, you received a "KdF-sparbuch" or "KdF savings book." It had places for 1000 stamps, each of which cost one Mark. If you were able to fill up the book, you could redeem it for a car.

In reality, the KdF-wagen never was made because the factory they were going to make it in was used instead to make military vehicles. Lots of Germans bought KdF-sparbuchen, and after the war when the Volkswagenwerk AG started making cars, they accepted the stamps in KdF-sparbuchs at face value--if your book had 650 stamps in it, they discounted your car by 650 Deutschmarks.
