The brake switch is located on the arm of the petal up toward the lower dash. You may need to remove the lower dash it to get to it. Sometimes the switch is faulty but most of the time it just needs to be tightened. This is very simple there is no need for a mechanic.

I would invest in a manual...and check to see if there are any pieces of metal(foil) in the lighter sockets..this can cause them to blow.. dave

On the driver side to the left, on the same side as the door under neath the console. It is the same color as the interior and looks like a handle

The 2000 VW Beetle headliner is held in place by a retaining strap. The retaining strap encircles the entire roof. The retaining strap has approximately 20 screws holding it in place. Remove the retaining screws and the headliner will come free.

The ABS light apparently indicates the status of the anti-lock braking system. It is normal for this light to come on for a few seconds when you first start the car but if it continues to stay lit then it can be an indication that your anti- lock braking system is not working. In this event, you will still be able to brake but the brakes will function like normal brakes without the antilock feature. Needless to say you should take your beetle to the dealer to figure out what may be causing this issue as soon as possible. Hope this helps. The seats in an old beetle are removed by sliding the seats completely forward while holding the seating moving mechanism in the open position. You may find it useful to have a small rubber mallet to gently tap the seat runners if you find that the seat sticks during removal. Note: There is a spring located under the seat which hooks from the seat to the seat runners which cause the seat to want to move forwards when the seat mechanism is engaged. If your Beetle still has the spring installed, use a small set of pliers to remove the spring before removing the seat.

Open the hood. Unplug the headlight, then pull the headlight from the outside. Little by little until it comes off. Replace the bulb. Put headlight back in carefully. Make sure it makes a clicking sound. Plug back your headlight. And your good to go. Oh by the way it takes 2 people to do this.

Hi, If you have a sun roof the drain on the driver's side may be clogged and the water will come in that way or the the rubber seal on the driver's door is either loose or missing or old and the water can get in that way too.

The IAT sensor is located on the rubber bellow after the air filter box. It is the small sensor you see plugged into the air bellow.

Take a hacksaw and cut the hood handle in half. Rotate the two halves until the hood opens.

Do NOT touch the bulb with your fingers. Only touch the base. Grease from your fingertips will significantly shorten the lifespan of the bulb and you will repeat this again, soon. Turn off the lights. Open the hood. There are two pins holding the headlight assembly in place, above the headlight assembly. Remove both pins on the side you are replacing the bulb by turning their top bars out of their clips, then pull the pin straight up. Pull the headlight assembly away carefully, as the bulbs are still attached to the wire harness behind them. Turn the required bulb in its socket until it is loose, then pull it out. Separate the wire plug from the base of the bulb. Use a tool like a coin or a screwdriver to loosen the wire plug retainer, if necessary. Install the new bulb in the socket of the light assembly. If the bulb does not fit in the socket, you are probably trying to install the low beam bulb in the high beam socket, like I did. Then plug the wire into the base of the bulb assembly. Reinstall the headlight assembly . Reinstall both pins, and turn the top bars back into the clips. Close the hood. Check the lights to make sure you got the correct bulb. Happy driving.

i don't know about the beetle, but in some cars to get the alarm to turn off you have to lock the car, get out and close the doors, then use the key to open the door again and start the car.

My husband and I took our boxster to a local repair shop. They wanted to charge us $800 to replace the light. Told us the entire light assembly had to be replaced to change the bulb. I told my husband not to do it that I would look on eBay for the part. Thankfully, I did a web query and asked how to change a lightbulb in a Porsche boxster and found this site. It is a really weird number--2.64 quarts. The REAL answer is 2500 milliliters. If you go over that, the VW engine's very high startup oil pressure will pop the main seal right out of the block, and then you are in for a whole day's work putting a new one in. My recommendation is to put two and a half quarts of oil in the thing and call it good; it'll read slightly below full on the stick and that's okay.

Just follow the bottom radiator hose from the from the radiator to where it connects to the engine, that is where it is located, in a plastic housing
