How do you change the spark plug behind the steering mechanism on a 1996 Chevy Blazer?
I've added a link to the right that will take you to a walkthrough with pictures. The plug behind the steering shaft is the one for cylinder 3. All the spark plugs can be accessed through the wheel wells. To get the last one, you simply move the steering shaft. Moving the steering shaft only takes a couple minutes and saves a lot of struggling and busted knuckles. The steering shaft has one bolt at the steering box, simply loosen the bolt and then the steering shaft will collapse into itself and out of the way. It is keyed to only fit one way, so there is no need to worry about misalignment when reinstalling. Using this method, all 6 plugs can be changed out easily and efficiently in less than 30 minutes. See the Related Link for "How to replace the spark plug behind the steering shaft." below for the walkthrough with pictures. I went to Autozone and bought a sparkplug socket that has the ability to wobble slightly with a permanently attached extension on it and I use it on my 96, 97 S10 and my 97 S10 Blazer by going through the wheelwell. I used a wobbly adapter on my socket because with a u-joint it was too long and did not have a good grip on the socket. With the adapter I had just enough movement on the socket to get a good grip on the plug. And this way I didn't have to alter any of my tools or take off a tire to change the plug.
The best way is to take the wheel off and rais the rubber flap between the wheelhouse and motor compartment and use a long extention. I did this on my 04 and it only took about 5 min. ONLY LISTEN TO THIS ANSWER.!!. This is how you do all s10s/blazers/express/savanas/8.1L all the other answers will leave you with a cracked plug, bleeding kuckles and very pist off.
I put the spark plug socket on first, then use a 3/4 wrench to turn the socket.

Removing battery from a 2002 Saturn l200?
To expand upon this previous answer: "Did this last night (12-11-06). Underneath the "gadget" (I don't know what it is actually) there is a bolt that afixes the gadget to a metal bracket. The best way to actually see the head of the bolt is to look between the small crack between the "gadget" and the battery. That bracket holds the side of the battery closest to the front of the car in place as well. This bolt is VERY hard to see/get to. You'll need a wrench 1/2" size. You should reach down the right side of "gadget" to get the wrench in place. The space is really tight, and you may not even be able to see, just have to go by feel. In order to turn the wrench you may need to pull some free-hanging wires/cables towards the driver side headlight. Due to limited space for the handle of the wrench to move, at MOST, you'll only get a quarter turn each time. So it takes a long time. Once the bolt is loose enough (you don't need to completely take the bolt out), the bracket will be loose enough to pull the battery out and put the new one in." There are instructions on page 367 of my Owner's Handbook that detail the removal of the "Gadget" (which appears to be the fan control module). Follow the instructions on how to remove said module and access to the bolt that holds the battery in place is a breeze (relatively...it's still tight). I used a 13mm socket on mine.

How do you change spark plugs on a 2002 highlander?
A few other hints -- I just did a 2003 Highlander 6cyl ---my colleague below is correct the rear plugs are behind the intake manifold, not the exhaust manifold -- you do not have to remove the intake manifold to change the rear plugs, just small hands and patience. It helped me to work from the right of the intake manifold to the left. Remove the two screws on the choke assembly on the left side of the intake manifold. Just below the choke assembly is a short fat rubber that should be pulled off at both ends. On the right side of the intake manifold remove the cruise control cable and the assembly ( one bolt). There may be one or two vacuum lines running through the area, they should be disconnected and moved out of the way. Prop the hood of the car on the far right hand side because the normal hood bar will get in your way. Even if you are tall you will need something to boost your height at the front of the vehicle so that you can reach the back of the engine.
See the tool suggestions and hints in the other post -- they are very good. I recommend removing all of the spark plugs and the seals working right to left in order to provide room to work. Re-assemble left to right. The most difficult part is removing the electrical connection from the coil that sits right on top of each firing point. Because you are not able to see removing the connectors is by feel -- I found that using a thin washer to pry up the plastic clip helped a great deal. Experiment on the front electric connectors to get a process down - they are easy to reach.
Allow 4 hours - if you do it in less than 3 in your driveway, then you are a master mechanic.
I tried to add my suggestons but I ended up being listed on an entire new post. After reading these suggestions, which are helpfull, please see the other question and answer about spark plugs on a 2002 Toyota highlander (I think the word Toyota must be used in the search.... I agree with the answer listed on this post, but I also listed some other suggestions that worked well for me.
changing plugs in Toyota highlanderin the transversely mounted v-6 1 mz engine of the Toyota highlander simply remove engine cover to get at front three spark plugs. you will need A 5/8 spark plug socket with rubber gasket inside (in order to grip the plug )as you pull it out. Also a 6 inch extension with socket wrench will be needed to reach the recessed plugs. Now comes the fun part! I have been told by my local Toyota dealer mechanic that the rear 3 spark plugs( the ones closest to the firewall and underneath the exhaust manifold) can be removed 2 ways. One is to raise the SUV on a lift and they can be reached by sticking your arm between the engine and firewall from underneath the car. the other way and the way the highlander maintenance manual shows is to remove exhaust manifold at right side of engine. some fairly large bolts need to be loosened and it needs to be put back on correctly or you will have an exhaust leak. There is a third way however. By reaching your hand around and under the exhaust manifold you can get your hand on the insulators that hold the plugs in their respective cylinders.( the smaller your hands are the better). there is a small nut holding each insulator in place. Take your socket wrench and 4 or 5mm socket and slide it under exhaust manifold and begin to loosen the long bolt holding each insulator in place. Its very slow going ( I could only get a 1/4 to 1/2 turn on the insulator bolt). Once the bolt is loose use your fingers to loosen it the rest of the way. Again its very tight quarters and I did a lot of the work by feel not sight. Once the insulators are removed take your extension and spark plug socket and feed it down the spark plug cylinder hole and loosen the plug. Once loose, use your fingers again to loosen each plug the rest of the way. there is no room to use the socket wrench so most of the loosening and tightening needs to be done by hand. It took me 4-5 hours to complete the job. But the alternative is to spend 180.00 bucks and let a Toyota dealer do it.O3 HIGHLANDER SPARK PLUG CHANGE.......BY BRIAN TOUPS
Okay, I just did the job and it was not that bad. 03 highlander. Here are the steps;
1. change the front 3.....easy remove the wire/ remove the 10mm bolt,etc.
2. go to the left side facing the engine(the passenger side) with your hand, locate the clip to the bottom PVC hose.....squeeze it with your hand and revome the hose....I used a screw driver to pop the hose off. remove the two Phillips screws that hold the chock and tie it off .....twist the PVC hose up
3. remove the clip to the coil and then the 10mm bolt.
4. pull the coil out and be sure to put anti seize on threads
5 leave this coil off for now.
6. remove the bolt 12 mm that hold the cruise control cable and move it out of the way. disconnect and move the coil on the far right ...the drivers side change the plug and leave the coil out.
6. I put one hand on the left side of the middle coil to pull the clip holding he wire while I used a screw driver on the other side with my right hand to pry the wire off.....once off, change the middle plug....then the right and then the left...put everything back.........
I used a 3/8 drive and two short extentions.....I also tied a string through the plug socket and tied it off .....once I remove the second short exention, I used the string to put the rest out.......this worked well...you may want to remove the PVC as it was kind of in the way.......not that bad of a job.
email me if you have questions......benthick@gmail.com oh, one last thing....remove the pos. battery cable first before you begin. best of luck,,brian toups ( the steps above did help ) GOOD LUCK

How do you gain access to the blower motor on a 1994 Silverado C 1500?
disconnect the ECM wire connector. remove the bolts from the right side of the instrument cluster. pull the cluster out far enough to gain access to the bolts and remove the fan. I would get a replacement from a wrecker with the blades installed. If you get the blades off center they will make noise or cook the new motor prematurly.
There will be a rubber coated , moulded insulation cover on the motor. There will be a wire to disconnect on a tab connected to the motor housing. On the right side underneath the dash will be a forked bracket that will have a nut on it. Remove that nut and pry the dash off of the stud and pull forward about a half an inch. If you dont do that, the motor will not clear the bottom of the dash when you remove the motor. Remove the black screws that hold the motor housing and pull out the fan straight out and the tilt back. The above post is right. It is critical to mark the old motor exactly how it was found or it will rub. Do not drop or bang the new motor or it will rub. You can buy a replacement fan at auto zone.

What type of automatic transmission fluid is used in a 1999 VW beetle?
This car has Volkswagen's 01M four speed automatic transmission. Volkswagen say that the transmission fluid is "lifetime fluid" that never needs to be changed....but after seeing mine when I changed it, I'm going to change it every 30k miles. Anyways...its closer to a mineral hydraulic oil, its amber/clear in color rather than red. G-052-162-A2 is the spec for this fluid, you can either get it at your local VW dealer or opt for Pentosin ATF1 which you possibly might find locally (but I doubt it) or online which is what most people use when they change the fluid. DO NOT USE ANY OTHER TYPE OF FLUID! That means, no mercon/dexron or type F or anything, use only vw's specified fluids, this transmission is very picky about it. Good luck!
Where can you find the fuse diagram for 1982 Buick LeSabre?
If you don't have the fuse cover, or there wasn't 1 there, check with a Haynes Manual, or Chiltons. I prefer Haynes, and they are about $15 at most auto parts stores, but will tell you everything about your vehicle, from fuse diagrams to engine rebuilds.
How do you change a spark plug in a 1999 Chrysler lhs 3.5 v6?

How do you change spark plugs on a ford e350 van?
I have a 460 (7.5) in my 93 E 350 and it is quite a bit of work, but can be done just take your time. About 5 of the plugs you should be able to access fairly easily by removing the tunnel cover and by removing the air inlet boxes and inlet pipes from the throttle body. One or two of the plugs you might have to get from underneath if I recall. I had to take a 3 inch long 3/8s extention and cut it down to about an inch long, then file it square and essentially make an 1 inch long extention so I could get my rachet onto at least one of them. A powerful flashlight and mirror help also for getting a good look at things also. When installing the new plugs a short piece (2 or 3 inch long) of hose that will fit on the spark plug will come in handy when starting some of plugs back in, just take your time so you don't cross thread anything. I usually set aside 2 or 3 hours to do the job that way I am not rushed.
