Jack up the car. Remove the entire strut assembly - spring and shock cartridge - on both sides. Buy new shock cartridges. Take the strut assemblies and the new cartridges to a Midas Muffler shop or somewhere that's got a spring compressing machine. They'll change the cartridges for you safely, and cheaper than buying the tool you need to do this. Then go home and reinstall the strut assemblies.

You have to have the mustang at the ford dealership to be hooked up to their equipment and they will reprogram you mustang computer with the encoded PATS key. If you had a mustang that was 1996-98 you could just order the encoded key and do it yourself in about 45 minutes. But because of the anti-theft chip placed in these keys by ford, late 1998 and newer have to be reprogrammed at the dealer. Sorry for the bad news!

The engine sits at the front of the car, underneath the hood, bolted directly to the gear box. From the gear box there are two drive shafts, one to either side. The front wheels are connected to the drive shafts via special joints which allow the wheels to swivel(as you turn the steering wheel) while still being powered by the engine.

(All that assuming there are no leaks.) I'm going through this what's-the-cause? game right now with my dealer.

Sounds like you may have broken rear suspension parts. Sway bar or spring may be broken.

if you can't find it at the brake pedal, You should be able to find a shop manual at your local library with diagnostics and specs -- make copies of the right sections as they are usually only available in the REFERENCE section...good luck :)

The answer from GKK below was very helpful. There is one small difference between his 2003 Saab 9-3 and my 2001 Saab 9-5 Aero. There is a metal clip holding the bulb socket in place. I took the clip off from the top and then unplugged the old low beam headlight bulb. I used some dielectric grease (available at Advanced Auto for $1) to coat the prongs of the new headlight bulb. Other than those small changes between the 9-3 and the 9-5, everything stated below works fine.

Also, make sure you ask for your military discount at Advanced Auto or Auto Zone. Both are real good to honor your service with a 10% discount. I appreciate them for being the few that still do that especially when the USA is presently deployed in two wars.

I hope this answers the question for you. I have a 2003 SAAB 9-3 and I'm hoping it's the same as for a 9-5. I just replaced the low-beam bulb on the passenger side. Bought at Autozone for $14.99 (H7 Sylvania Halogen). 1. Remove rubber cover. 2. Pull and twist plug to the right (towards drivers side). It should slip right off when everything is aligned. Use a flashlight. 3. Now that you have the plug assembly out, pull out the bulb. Easier said then done. It's in there very tight. I actually used a needle nose plier to grap a hold of the bulb plate itself. This doesn't twist, nor is it clipped on. It's just in there tight. So use the plier, and work you way around the bulb plate (don't know what else to call it). Tah, dah... I believe there's only one way for the new bulb to go in, so insert it into the plug and put everything back. Hope this works for your 9-5. Good luck from GKK.

I'm not positive about your car, or the dash setup, but generally a water light means your low on coolant. If you drive while low on coolant, you run the risk of overheating your engine. Obviously that's not a good thing.

Yes you can, but you need to find out, maybe from your Ford dealer, how to put the transfer case in neutral. With the new electronics, there is a sequence you need to perform to do that!!

This is a somewhat difficult question to answer. It depends heavily on if you're actually going to take it offroad of it you plan on making a pavement princess. The domelight is located on the driver side just above the hand strap if you have one. If you don't have a hand strap, the location of the dome light is just above the driver side door between the top rear of door and the driver side backseat window.

Inside the trunk on the same as the gas door there is a plastic round cover.

Remove this cover and reach inside. There you should feel e kew wires and cables.

One of these cables is covered in foam. This is the cable for the gas door latch.

Pull on this cable until the door unlatches but not too hard as to pull it right out.

You do have to use some sufficient force, so don't be shy when doing this.

I had the same problem with my beetle. It is a royal pain, and VW Canada was NO help!

Mine jams sometimes also. Normally, you pull the lever in the drivers compartment, on left down low at knee level. Then the hood partially releases and a small lever protrudes from under the hood in front center. pull on this and the hood can be opened fully. The mechanism under the hood in front center must be sprayed with lubricant every few months or it will jam again.

If you can and will work on a car, they're good cars. The newest Volkswagen Beetle in the United States is 29 years old and most are well over 30, so they require a lot of maintenance. Keep up on it, and the car is reliable. If you can't or won't work on a car, don't get one because you'll be stranded a lot.
