I have had the same issue with my 2002 GLX sedan. I am having issues with the alternator charging intermittently. This has caused my battery to slowly discharge, with iteventually needing replacement. Anyway, this keyless entry issue seemed to happen to me at times when the car battery was almost dead.
You haven't given many details, but I can cite a couple of possibilities that have happened to me. I have a 2003 Passat Wagon with a 1.8 Turbo engine.
If the engine suddenly runs rough and looses power, the first thing I'd check is one of the coils on the engine. Each spark plug has it's own coil as a part of the connector from the ignition system to the spark plug. I have had one go bad, and it caused an instant loss of power, and a somewhat rough engine (basically, one plug not firing).
I believe there is presently a recall on these. I keep a spare in the car since they are relatively easy to change. If needed I can give a few helpful hints.
Another thing that can cause a sudden loss of power is the large hose (approx. 3" dia.)on the drivers side of engine compartment that is attached with a large hose clamp.
If this hose comes loose power drops immediately. The reason this hose could come loose is that it needs to be moved out of the way when removing the oil filter from the top of the engine compartment. Could have been left loose.

Make sure the lever is rotating in the glove box and not the whole bracket. The outer cable shroud might have come loose so there won't be any leverage to move just the inner cable. If the outer shroud moves with the inner cable then remove the bracket and try it then. If you can see the lever and inner cable move and the outer shroud is stationary then worst case scenario the cable broke. There is an access panel under the spare tire, but it's real narrow, some can reach in and some can't not a lot of room with the spare in the way. You will have to get the Bentley Manuel to get it open if the cable is broke. You have to cut the trunk handle off.

Simple at least for 2001 vintage. Just carefully pry of 4 way flasher button, (wrap something around screw driver so as not to mark button) and pry at top. Then using a small pair of needle nose pliers pull straight out and unplug connector. As a side note, if your problem is a clicking sound from flasher when signals not actually on try and spray a little contact cleaner in column near signal light switch and wait for it to evaporate. Bin there done that !

Change your fuel filter. Also make sure you didn't trip the fuel cut-off switch. Happened to me.

there are some tiny torx head screws located between the blinker and headlight lenses. unscrew these and pull the blinker lens out just a little and be careful because the wiring and plugs for the bulbs are not very long. also on either side, the lens slides in a track so you need to pull it slowly and straight. the bulb sockets simply unscrew and you then can replace the lens. be sure that the lenses slide back into the tracks. i installed clear blinker lenses and its easy to do

I use 10-30 in mine. It is best to check you owners manule because wheather in the area you live uaually determins what viscosity you need to use. As far as brand, Vavoline, castrol, quaker are all good oils. I am a maintence mechanic and I use alot of oils and greeses that are made by chevron. As far as I am concerned I is the best and it is actually cheeper to buy. Good Luck - PS Make sure you DONT use Penzoil!! It is a populler name but it has sludged up more engines than I can count

The job is not difficult if you have some mechanical skills and metric tools. 4 or 5 hours of labor.
Remove the wheel.
Remove the brake caliper. This takes a 7mm Allen wrench (2 bolts), each can be found under a small round dust cap.
Remove the caliper mounting bracket - 2 bolts.
Remove the rotor. It should come right off. If not tap it with a hammer to brake it loose from the hub.
Now you have access to the bearing and will need a puller. Advanced auto parts and some other parts stores rent specialty tools.
You can do it.
