Air Filters and Intake Manifolds

Air filters are devices that remove solid particles such as dust, mold, and bacteria from the air. Used in building ventilation systems and engines, they contain an intake manifold that is primarily tasked to optimize the system/engine’s performance and efficiency.

How difficult of a job is it to replace an intake manifold gasket on a 99' Saturn SL1?

If you have a general automotive knowledge and some metric wrenches and sockets, you should be able to do it. Might take you 1 - 1.5 hrs to remove it. Not to difficult really except that it is behind the engine and some of the lower intake mounting bolts may be tough to see.

Where is the ventilation air inlet filter located on a 2006 Ford Focus?

On some of these SUVs it is behind the glove box.

But it`s not a SUV

In a Focus 2006, AND in the fiesta/fusion from 2002 AND the C-Max, Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy, the ventilation air filter is mounted next to the trottle pedal. All you need to do is to remove the trottle pedal (just 3 bolts). Right next to the pedal there`s the filter cover. It`s secured with three to four Torq screws (depending which model), size 20 (just a small one). Remove the screws and the cover and here`s your ventilation air filter

How do you replace the cabin air filter on a 1998 Mercedes-Benz C230?

This is an easy one. There are three screws under the glove box that will expose the fan and the cabin filter once the cover is removed. The cabin filter is on the left with two white plastic retaining clips approx. 2 inches long, pull the one close to you toward you and the back one away from you. This will allow the filter to drop out. Make sure the cover seats when reinstalling clips.

How much horsepower does a k and n air-filter add?

In normal everyday driving it will add no extra horsepower. In a racing situation at high rpms it will add some but not much. How much depends on the engine that it is installed on.

What to do with Oil leaks by manifold?

If you are talking about the EXHAUST manifold then most of the time it's the valve cover gasket that is leaking oil. REPLACE VALVE COVER GASKETS.

If you are talking about the intake manifold then it has 2 rubber gaskets in the front and rear of it that leak oil real bad. If oil is on the left are right top sides of the intake manifold were the valve covers are then it will be the valve cover gaskets that are leaking oil.

How do you remove the air intake manifold on a 1998 suburban to replace the gasket?

replacing the Intake manifold gasket is Avery detailed process. Which includes unhooking alot of wire harnesses, removing all the accessorie brackets on the front of the engine( alt, p/s, a/c,) and in some cases the a/c has to be drained and refilled. The distributor has to be removed and you have to have a scanner to set the timing when your finished. All the manifold bolts have to be tightened to a specific torque. Specials tools are needed for these repairs. This is not one of thpse repairs the average person should attempt. One misstake and you could very easily ruin the motor. If you still wish to try this repair invest in a Haynes repair manual, you can get them at any AutoZone and all the infermation you'll need will be in there, including the torque specs.

Can a Intake gasket Leak gas in the oil?

not likely on newer models, but on older ones it could be the fuel pump.

If you have that problem with a newer model it could be the head or head gasket, I just replaced intake &head gasket and installed a new head on a 2001 neon and the car started right up after having that problem.

Do you need to remove the throttle boddie to replace the themostat on a 97 Chevy lumina?

I don't think so. Follow the upper radiator hose to where it connects to the motor. There's a bubble-like metal piece there called the thermostat housing. It connects to the engine with 2 bolts. Removed what you have to to get to this housing.

How do you get the cruise control working after putting in a new intake manifold?

Reconnect everything EXACTLY as it was prior to the manifold replacement.....look for either a disconnected vacuum line or electrical connector to the cruise control servo - check the fuse that supplies power to the cruise control - check for 12v power to the servo (got a test light or a multi-meter ?) hope that helps.....

Where exactly is the air filter located on a 2004 Sienna?

open the hood. look right. it's right behind the battery. big black box. unscrew two screws with a ratchet: one's on the front right, the other on the rear right of the box. you'll need an extension for your ratchet to reach that one. don't worry about losing the screws -- they won't come out all the way. the cover will lift up -- but NOT easily. too many wires in the way as well as the big hose coming out of the the rear of the box. pull out the old filter -- not easy either, as it will get snagged on the screw holding in the battery. notice the position of the old filter (rounded corner front right). get out your shop vac and vaccuum inside the box. before putting in the new filter, make sure it's going in with the rounded corner on the front right. otherwise it won't fit exactly and you won't know why the heck the cover won't go back on easily. carefully slip the new filter in. like i say, take care not to snag it on that darn screw. make sure it's level, too, the back of the filter wants to dip into the box instead of sitting on the lip of the bottom of the box. to put the cover back, you need to make sure the top and bottom of the box fit into each other on the left side. then you need to put the screws back in. don't use a screwdriver for the rear one, else you might misthread it, as visibility back there sux.

How do you install an air filter on a 2003 Navigator?

1. Remove the flat plastic cover from the top of the engine by removing the two bolts and pulling up. There is a hidden friction support on the left side of the enginge when viewed from the front. 2. Loosen the hose clamp around the air intake at the engine. 3. Loosed the hose clamp at the outlet of the air filter assembly. 4. Remove the hose assembly that connects the air filter assembly to the engine air intake. 5. Undo the spring clamp that hold the two halves of the air filter assembly together and loosen the clamp ring. IMPORTANT: Note where the clamp lever is in relation to the line up tab at the top of the filter housing. 6. Pull the front of the air assembly away from the rest of the filter housing. Note where the clamp ring fits over the plastic tabs at the bottom of the removed housing half. IMPORTANT: Becareful when removing the front of the housing as there is a wiring harness that is connected to an air mass sensor in the housing. I did not need to disconnect the wiring harness as I was able to move the loose part toward the firewall. 7. You are now able to access the filter to replace it. 8. Reverse these disassembly steps to everything back together properly.
