Replace the alternator on a 2006 Eddie Bauer Ford Expedition?
Do yourself a favor. When buying a New Alternator have them check it before taking it home? I had a bad incident that I ended up with, 3 bad alternators in one day, 3 different stores. Last store check it before I took it home and everything was good. I ended up changing it 3 times. Make sure they also change the pulley.

Removal & Installation
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Rotate the drive belt tensioner away from the drive belt and remove the drive belt from the alternator pulley.
3. Detach the electrical harness connectors at the alternator assembly.
4. Disconnect the positive battery cable and remove the nut and washer.
5. Remove 2 front alternator bolts.
6. Remove the rear alternator support bracket retaining bolts and the support bracket.
7. Remove the alternator from the vehicle.
To install:
8. Place the alternator in position and loosely install 2 front alternator retaining bolts.
9. Install the alternator bracket and 3 alternator bracket bolts. Tighten to 84 inch lbs. (10 Nm)
10. Tighten 2 front alternator retaining bolts to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).
11. Connect 2 electrical hardness connectors to the alternator assembly.
12. Connect the positive battery cable and install the nut and washer. Tighten the nut to 72 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
13. Rotate the drive belt tensioner away from the drive belt and install the drive belt on the alternator pulley.
14. Connect the negative battery cable.
15. Start the engine and check for proper charging system operation.
The alternator is sitting on a guide. It is held on it by a bolt. All you have to do is loosen that bolt and the belt pressure sould realese.
Look around for a wheel that is touching the belt but appears to have no other purpose...this is the tensioner. Use a long handled wrench on the nut in the middle of the tensioner.
there should be a diagram under the hood, in front of the radiator, that will show belt routing and show where the tensioner is...

If it is a serpentine belt, the tension is automatically adjusted by the tension idler. If the belt is loose then the tensioner needs replacing. If it is a normal drive belt, then the alternator is mounted on a slotted bracket that allows you to adjust the position of the alternator. Belt tensioner is located in the front of the engine. You will need to remove the induction system (black plastic tube that connects your intake manifold to air box). Well it could be the external regulator on the right side of the engine compartment or a bad alternator . First I would have the battery checked to verify the battery is good but only after fully charging it , then try replacing the regulator first because its cheapest and if the alternator is in fact bad it should be replaced with the alternator anyway. If the regulator doesn't help then It's probably safe to assume it would be the alternator. I've had a loose plug on the alternator also that would keep it from charging, you might wanna check that and all your connections first.

I had the same problem. Try replace the cable/wires that lead from under the car to the positive and negative posts to the battery. This is a common problem for this car. Maybe defective wires were used when the cars were originally manufactured.
