DOT ( 3 ) brake fluid ( according to the 2005 Ford Taurus Owner Guide )

Yes, DOT4 is an improvement on the formula of DOT3 and can be used in place of it.

But never ever use DOT5, it is a completely different, silicon-based formula.

Look on the cap. It's the law that the fluid you need be printed on the cap...but for the record, since Mini Coopers are European cars, it's DOT 4...and since it IS a European car, the brand is most likely Pentosin - which you get at NAPA.

i have a 1959 dynamic and mine is in a very inconvenient and somewhat hidden spot underneath where the steering linkage and column, come out of the firewall of the car. pop the hood go to the drivers side and look down below where the stearing column comes out ,and look just underneath it for a square looking metal cap. you may need a flashlight & a funnel with a long tip on it!! lol. hope this helps.

If it is only on the outside of the backing plate, it will be the brake line. If it is on the insede it will be the wheel cylinder needing replaced.

This is an easy one... Is the fluid green? if it is, it's coolant.. if not, its brake fluid.

Brake fluid is in resevior on master cylinder. Look in engine compartment on firewall just in front of steering wheel. The brake booster is a large round drum and the master cylinder is attached to it. Use a flat screwdriver to slide the two clips off the flat lid. remove lid to add fluid as needed, but remember brake fluid will remove paint, so be careful.

The brake fluid must be flushed out as soon as possible

If you have to add water keep going its OK

Drain and change the coolant as soon as possible.

Most vehicles have master cylinder reservoirs that you can see the fluid through. The side of the reservoir has a high and low fluid mark on it.

DOT 3 that meets Ford specs ESA - M6C25-A

It requires DOT 3.

If you have used the brakes it is BAD! Your will have to at least replace the master cylinder or even the porporting valve and or ABS valve depending on year and model of vehicle the transmission fluid will damage the seals and brakes will be spongey or even worse not work. DO NOT DRIVE VEHICLE. I you have not applied the brakes it can be repaired easelly get a turkey baster or some kind of suction device to remove the fluid from reservoir (get all you can get out), fill half full with proper brake fluid DOT 4 or 5 if vehicle is 2004 or newer use DOT 5, if older you can use DOT 4. Suck out fluid again and refill to full level on reservoir.

You need an owner's manual to know what items to service and when, and for specifications. Simply adding brake fluid to a reservoir may not be all that needs attention. Be sure to have your brake linings checked (pads and/or shoes, depending on model) before they wear to the point of either failing of damaging the rotors/drums.

you may have a blockage on that line.

is it the abs or e brake light? More than likely it is an abs sensor. cost about 50 bucks to have replaced on my car hope this helps. If it is the red brake light, there is low fluid or the e-brake pedal is sagging. Check the reservior and top it. If it is the orange brake light, you'll need to have the ABS system tested to determine the cause. Or you could blindly buy and install parts as a guess.

That all gets too involved to answer on this board. Easiest thing to do is get a repair manual from your local parts store.

Just open the hook and look for the containers, in the top of the bottle is writen which fluid have to refill.

Rear brake lines leave Master cylinder as one and are junctioned at the rear of the vehicle

you can purchase a rebuild kit for master cylander. usually is easier and cheaper to buy replacement cylander.cylander has to come completely out of vehicle no matter which way you choose to repair it.you also need to know what you are doing if you go the rebuild it yourself way.then after repair ,the whole brake system will need bleeding When my master went on my 2500 the replacement was $40CAD, just buy a new one and save the hassle

You may be able to adjust the pedal. You might also have air in the hydraulic line and need to get the air out.
