1998 Ford Explorer heater won't blow air?
It may be a broken blend door. Typically to fix this problem, a mechanic will disassemble the entire dash, and replace the plenum box. Unfortunately this is an expensive fix because it is labor and parts intensive. There is a DIY solution called heatertreater. They provide instructions on how to access the blend door by removing the glove box, and replacing the blend door without removing the dash and plenum assembly. Broken blend doors are a common problem among Ford explorers, and most heating and A/C issues in late model Ford explorers are directly caused by a malfunctioning blend door.

Why would an auto AC turn on but only blow warm air?
Here are responses: * Several things could be the cause. Low coolant. Heater valve. The belt. The compressor. Check these in the order shown. * You most likely to need a new temperature control switch in your heater/ac. This is the switch in the dash; easy to change.
1996 vw sharan heater blows cold cabin hot?
can you please clarify what you mean, do you mean that the front heater blows cold but the rear blows hot or do you mean that when the heating is on cold it blows hot? many thanks paul
What would cause the heater to produce heat but not blow air no matter which setting it is on?
There is probably something wrong with the fan motor. It could be the fan motor has a bad switch or connection or the fan motor could be bad. The above Answer might be true in some cause's but before I replaced a fan motor I'd check the fuse first. The blower cage could be dirty. I'd bet it's a resistor or a relay. Usually they are right next to the fan somewhere. The wires split off from the the bundle and go to the fan and the resistor.
Why makes my AC turn warm at idle and cold when driving?
Most likely cause is an inoperative condensor fan.
Your temperature hand goes down when you turn on the heat?
More then likely, your thermostat is sticking. When this happens, your car tends to overheat. If you turn on you heat, it keeps your car from overheating for a little longer then if you left it off. If you see your car is starting to get hot, turn on your heater, but try to get to wherever you needed to go, or to the nearest trustworthy mechanic.
How do you know if your water pump is bad or head gasket?
Water pump will almost always seep coolant during and after run before going fully. Once it goes, the coolant just runs out. Bad head gasket shows excessive steam in exhaust and coolant in oil - white/green sludge on dipstick generally.
My Car heater doesn't blow heat immediately when car is started?
You can not get heat from cold water, The engine has to run long enough to get the water in the engine HOT. That is were you get heat from HOT WATER-- Coolent
either the thermostat or the fan is no good. You would need to locate the thermostat and see if its stuck open or closed!
Why will the 99 silhouette not heat up The temp gauge rises but still no heat?
I own a '97 silhouette that had a similar problem. The first time this occurred it was the intake manifold gasket. About two years later the problem arose again, only this time it was the head gasket. These cars are notorious for these gasket problems. Worse yet is the fact that if the car runs hot you have a very good chance of warping the heads. At $1500 to repair, my silhouette is done and headed for the scrap yard.
Good luck-
I too, have a 2000 Silverado (5.3L) with blend door problems. In warmer weather, the blend door gets stuck in the heat mode and I cannot use the air conditioning, plus the cabin gets hotter than Hades. Do you have this same issue BRich? Or did you before you replaced you blend door actuator and temp control panel?
In terms of blending the heat, do you mean that you try to warm the cabin somewhat while the control is in "vent" setting and you turn the temp control to a warmer temp (from the blue to the red) but all you get is cool air as though it remains in full vent mode?
If so, I have this same experience. I believe that this model was not designed to do that. My wife has a 2002 Trail Blazer and she can blend warm air into the cabin while in vent mode. I have never been able to on mine.
Why is a 1994 Chrysler Concorde not blowing hot air from the heater?
Low coolant?
Thermostat not closing completely allowing engine temperature to rise?
Plugged heater core?
Temperature blend door malfunction in the HVAC housing.
A couple of reasons...

I am having simalar problem. So far I have removed the hvac fuses under the hood and in driver side fuse panel (between door and dash). Leave them out for 10 minutes. Reinstall fuses and start truck up. Place climate control in AUTO. Unit will cycle through vents in calibrate mode. I have had limited succes so far doing this. I the begining I have hot on both sides, then passanger, then driver side. I seems to change when I shut the control down with the power off butten on bottom left side. Now both sides are responding to temp control changes, but supply temp does not seem to match setting. It seems that temp is not calibrated properly. It appears to be 5-10 degrees higher that actual. I think I am on to the right track, but missing a step somewhere. Hope this can help you in some way.
NOTE: My issues started the same time I changed the Battery in the truck. It must have done somthing to the programing in the modual.
vacuum operated valve in heater hose not opening
Addition:
Another possibility is that the heater core is plugged. The Dex cool coolant is notorious for clumping up and clogging up the heater core when exposed to air for a while (air pockets in the system after adding in coolant)
Disconnect the 2 hoses on the firewall that run to the engine (heater core inlet and outlet). Take 2 pieces of automotive hose or whatever you can get your hands on the make a snug fit around the pipes coming out from the fire wall. run a garden hose on the right hose (outlet). Don't push the garden hose directly to the heater core. you can damage it. heater cores can handle pressure 14-16PSI on average, a garden hose can do 40-70PSI. you risk damaging it. Run the water into the hose and keep an eye out on the other one and see if coolant is flowing, you can push the garden hose closer to the outlet hose on the heater core if needed, just be careful. once you're getting clean water all the way through and no chunks or pieces are coming out. Reconnect the hoses from the engine and start it up. You'll have to add some more coolant to make up for what was flushed out.
If both heater hoses were hot chances are the heater is not plugged and there is no vacuum operated valve in the heater hoses on that model. My guess would be the temperature blend door actuator behind the dash has failed.
When you set the control, if you chose defrost, it usually does it at the temperature you specify. So if you want heat only blowing through the windshield vents, which I believe may be the question you are asking, it varies between makes of cars.
This is what to look for : defrost, fan speed, temperature.
If you mean "Can a car that only has a heater ( no air conditioning ) be used to defrost?" The answer is still yes.
I believe the question is missing words. It is comparable to asking "Hand, just finger work?" You might try asking again, being more specific, explaining why it is a problem.
Where is the heater fan motor on a 1993 Ford Festiva?
Usually at the passenger's side firewall
Some are accesible under the hood others behind the glove box inside the vehicle
What should you check if your heater blows for a few minutes and cuts off?
if it is a indoor gas heater check the filter ref 2 owners man or if it is in a car maybe themostat
Could the heater door actuator be bad? What is the cost to replace? This Grand Prix has a dual-zone climate control and when the AC is on, the passenger side vents often change to heat when the control is still on cold.
Why wont the heater blow hot air on your vauxall corsa?
If your Vauxhall Corsa's heater isn't blowing hot air, it could be due to several reasons. One common issue is low coolant levels, which can prevent the heating system from functioning properly. Another possibility is a malfunctioning thermostat that doesn't allow the engine to reach the required temperature. Additionally, a blocked heater core or a faulty blower motor could also be the culprit.
Can a gauge to the instrument cluster go bad?
yes it is possible for a gauge to go bad in which you will need to have the cluster repaired or buy a new one
How do you control the heat in a smoker?
Smokers are designed with vents on both the top and bottom of the smoker unit. Typically, the bottom vents are used to fan or fuel the flame inside. Adjusting the bottom vent either flames your fire or smolders it. The top vents are the ones that are typically used to control the heat inside the smoker. The more you open the vents, the more heat will escape out. The tighter you keep them closed, the more the heat will remain inside the smoking unit.
