Basically, one cylinder isn't firing for one of a number of reasons. The most common cause is an igntion fault. This will cause the engine to feel and sound "lumpy", and the power would be greatly reduced. The best way to find the cylinder which is responsible is quite simple but care must be taken. Firstly if you hate electric shocks as much as I do, find a proper pair of electricians insulated pliers, and even some decent rubber gloves if you can aswell. Start the engine, and one at a time, use the pliers to remove a lead from the top of one spark plug, if the engine almost stops, or gets worse in any way, it is not that piston which isn't firing. Repeat the proccess, one at a time, you will know which piston ISNT firing when you remove the plug lead, and there is no change in the engine sound, this is your defective cylinder. Its just a case then of looking at the condition of the spark plug and asessing the cause of the misfire before carrying out repairs. BEWARE:- THE LEADS WHICH CONNECT TO THE SPARK PLUGS CARRY SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF VOLTS - HENCE RUBBER GLOVES AND INSULATED PLIERS

Shaking occurs when a portion of the vehicle has a mechanical resonance frequency which receives energy from another connected source. This could be a multiple of the shake frequency, not just the identical wave frequency. e.g. The front end resonant frequency might be a multiple of the Tire rotation frequency or the engine / drive frequency. The only solution is to change the shaking section (Usually the front-end suspension) frequency. This may involve significant modifications.
You might want to check the drive shaft if it is all wheel drive. I have the same problems with a 2000 Grand Caravan 3.8. Havent found the parts yet.
I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM A FEW YEARS AGO. IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE LINKAGE ON THE PITMAN OR THE IDLER ARM?. I TIGHTENED IT UP AND IT SEEMED TO HELP A LOT. IT REDUCED THE SHIMMY A GREAT DEAL. YOU MIGHT TRY INSPECTING THE TIRE TREAD AND LOOK FOR TREAD SEPARATING. THIS CAN CAUSE A SHIMMY OF THE FRONT END WHEN ACCELERATING TO HIGH SPEEDS. AND POSSIBLY CAUSE IT TO PULL TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT DEPENDING ON WHICH TIRE HIT THE CURB. YOU MIGHT SEE THE STEEL BELT SHOWING THROUGH THE TREAD.(A VERY GOOD CLUE). WHEN YOU HAVE THE TIRE RAISED UP OFF THE GROUND, GRAB HOLD OF THE SUSPECTED TIRE AND TRY TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY PLAY IN THE ASSEMBLY / MOUNTING. SEE IF IT RATTLES ANY THING. CHECK ALSO FOR POSSIBLE "BUBBLES" IN THE TREAD. (TREAD SEPARATING OR "MAY POPS" ). CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURE TOO. LOW AIR IN THE TIRE CAN ALSO A PULL. CHECK ALSO ALL THE SUSPENSION AND THE STEARING ASSEMBLY & BUSHINGS (i.e. TIE RODS & LINKAGE, SHOCKS ETC..) FOR WEAR. They are along the top of the motor. You must remove the box that says Vortec 4200 on top of the motor. Under that you will see six coil packs that have the spark plugs underneath them. Carefully undo the bolts and lift them off the plugs. Remove the plugs etc.
Remember it has an aluminum head so care must be used at all times to ensure proper torque in achieved.
Plugs are designed to last 100,000 miles on these engines. If you do not have a misfire before then it is suggested to leave them alone.
