Washed the rims on vibe now car shakes?
Most likely some mud broke loose and now the rims are heavy on one side. Make certain that the back sides of the rims are clean too. One big chunk of Missouri clay (or any other clay) can make the vehicle vibrate.
I had a very similar problem with my 92 olds. with a 3.3 litre engine. tryed to find the problem for months. I recently had my transmission replaced, and they used a parts store torque converter switch. i was told it needed a factory part to work correctly. It worked! car is perfect now I hope it works for you ! Just got the 1997 olds repaired....the problem was a vacuum hose. The bill says "repair vacuum leak behind the throttle body". Thanks to this site for being there for us and to the person who tried to help.
If my car does not pick up speed when pushing the gas what is wrong?
You are not getting enough gas or you could be having transmission problems. Try replacing your fuel filter. If that does not fix the problem, have the fuel pump tested. You can also install a new air filter. If none of that works, it could be your transmission.
You have given us the rate of deacceleration when Maggie applies the brakes of her car but at what velocity is Maggie travelling before the stop sign? Alternatively; having ceased all movement by applying the brakes of her car the question has no relevance.
Can low compression be caused by faulty ignition coil?
Low Compression is a mechanical problem, not electrical. A poor coil CAN create misfires, jerking, poor mileage, low power, etc. because the spark is insufficient to ignite the gas vapors properly. Coils must be replaced. I had to do so on my 1993 Sidekick and it is not a difficult operation. You can even buy a aftermarket version for much less money than going through a dealer.
As to Compression, that is due to the condition of the cylinders, pistons, valves and rings. A bad compression ring or a leaking valve seat can cause low compression. You might want to have your valve clearances checked. Tight clearances can cause valves to not close properly and therefore "burn" them.
If you can get your hands on a compression tester, test it on each cylinder and record that. Then squirt a bit of oil into the cylinder and try again. If it is higher, it could represent bad rings. Oil burning can also show bad rings and/or loose valve guides especially if it is during initial startup or deceleration. Any of these latter problems must be handled by a qualified mechanic.
Sometimes you can reduce the low compression, at least temporarily, with Restore added to the oil. I have personally used Motor Silk as a long term additive that I feel works. Some people do not. But these additives are only that and cannot repair mechanical failures. Good Luck!
If you hit a pot hole and then your car and steering wheel shake when you drive Any ideas?
If your steering wheel is shaking you probabley messed you wheels or axel up
Check your fuel filter before spending money on other troubleshooting procedures.
Had the same problem, it would idle fine but about 4000 rpm or heavy exceleration it would start to jerk. so i replaced my cam sensor.
Fuel constriction, ignition parts corroded, wet spark plugs. I had this problem caused by a corroded connection on the high-voltage side of the ignition coil. Carburetors could have a failing acceleration pump.
Do you have a 1998 Nissan Frontier engine diagram?
A 1998 Nissan Frontier engine diagram is available through a service repair manual. Auto repair shops also have data bases that have these engine diagrams available to be printed out for their consumers.
Why would your car shake when you ware braking while driving?
Most of the time it is caused by the disk (rotor) being warped for previous "locking up" the brakes. If you've ever slammed on the brakes that could be the reason why. Basically it's a rotor problem most of the time.
Most likely a vacuum hose problem, look for cracked or disconnected hose under the hood.
i"m not sure if a Lincoln navigator would have a sway bar, But my sway bar broke in my Chevy celebrity once and the whole car would rock side to side after turns and such. it's a bar by the rear axle and mine literally broke in two.
What causes a car to shimmy while driving?
Tire out of balance, bent wheel, loose wheel bearing, defective tire, loose wheel lug nuts, & worn steering or suspension parts.
The rotors are warped. Remove the pads and rotors and have them trued at a machine shop. Install new pads and do not use the old pads. Have the calibers inspected to see if they are sticking. Be sure and clean all the hardware and remove any debris and heavy rust particles. Use only a wire brush. Clean everything down with spray brake cleaner. ANOTHER OPINION It sounds like "Disk brake chatter". That's when the rotor is warped from excessive heat. It's common when a vehicle stops while carrying a heavy load or the brakes are used going down a long incline but the brakes typically have to get quite hot to cause warping. Also, rotors can warp when the callipers "hang", meaning that they may not be completely releasing. In either case, replacing the rotors should solve the brake chatter problem. If the brake pads are relatively new you shouldn't need to replace them. Many of the newer rotors cannot be turned but if yours can you may be able to get some more life from them.
If i have a missing lug nut can that cause my steering wheel to vibrate?
No it will not cheak your tie rods .I'f it vibrate's when you press your brake's it's the rotors, fix it quick or the "vibrate" will keep losing lug nuts.
Yes.
What would cause your car to make a weird jerking motion while you press the brakes?
What you're describing COULD be what is called "disk brake chatter". The problem is caused by heat, which eventually will warp the rotors. If the rotor is warped the disk brake pads grab with different force as the warped rotor changes angle toward the brake pads. If the problem IS disk brake chatter, the only options are to have the rotors turned or replace them.
A strut brace, a.k.a. strut tower brace or strut bar, is a simple bar bolted to the top of two opposing strut towers. It ties them together to form a more rigid single unit. It is often found as standard equipment on higher-end vehicles. A car's strut towers normally flex during hard cornering or when hitting a bump, some say up to a quarter of an inch. This flexing can cause traction loss as well as some rattles. The strut tower brace distributes the pressure applied to one strut tower to both towers keeping the suspension settings the way the engineers designed them. This should improve handling, tire wear and metal fatigue is minimized in the strut tower portion. When asked about suspension modifications, Larry Nissen (a BMW Tech) said. "I would start with a good strut brace, it may help the handling a little now but where you will get your money back is three years down the road when your car is still as tight as it is now".
Will bad tires make car shake at certain speeds?
Bad tires and bad alignment can cause the car to shake at certain speeds.
Have you used "fix a flat" ? if yes, You have 2-lbs of water inside your tire now. it cost me 70 bucks to find out and this stuff easts chrom weels. Go to alignment shop and tell them to jack up ur car and they use a special machine to turn the back wheels one by one to find out which one is out of ballance ( dont let them take the wheels off and ballance them since they balance tires and speed lower than 50mph and usually stuff happens around 55 to 60mph. for front tires u can just jack up one wheel at a time and put the car in drive and accelerate one wheel is on the ground and the one you jacked up turns and u ask some one to look at the wheel see if it shakes ( it shakes really bad if water inside the tire) do the same of other front wheel. But for back wheels u need that special machine which alignment shops have and all these machines do they turn the wheel up to 130 mph to see if it shakes or not.
Why does your front wheels shake while driving?
Tires out of balance, belt in tire has slipped, ie defective tire, bent wheel, loose lug nuts, loose or worn bearings. Check lug nuts and tighten to the proper torque. Have the tires rotated and balanced. Inspect the suspension and all stering parts. How do you change front brake pads on 2008 Nissan Sentra?
it the same on all brakes,the only difference is tork bolts. 65;
Why does 99 Lexus GS300 motor shake while idling and eventually turns off?
The "check engine" light should be illuminated. Start with investigating the code(s). They may lead you to the cause.
Why does the car shake when idle and jerk when braking?
I had this same problem.
I am guessing what you mean is that the car is shaking.
If you look at your RPM's on your car you will see that it is a low lower than it normally is.
For my car it idled at around 400 RPM's ( which is very low)
Depending on your car it can idle at a variety of different RPM's
This problem started happening to me when I changed my 02 Sensor.
Solution:
Go to an auto shop and have them scan your car with one of their sensors that gives you an error code on what's wrong.
Google that code or see if they can look it up while they are there.
If it is the 02 sensor then you need to replace it.
Mine cost me about 60 bucks.
After I replaced my 02 sensor it fixed my cars idling problem.
The first time I replaced my 02 sensor is what gave my car the problem.
After I replaced for the second time it went away.
bent wheel, front wheel drive? bad cv joint, rear drive? universal joint, wheel bearing, plug wires, coil, injector, hard to say without more info
