Car Shaking Problems

Car shaking problems are usually the results of mechanical problems. Out of adjustment tires or suspension will make the car shake after reaching a certain speed. Warped brake rotors will also make the car shake when it’s slowing down.

Can a 3 cylinder engine run good on 2 cylinder?

Not really. If one of the three cylinders is not functioning, the engine has lost MORE than 1/3 of the power if you take into consideration that the engine is still moving the "dead" piston.

What could be causing a wobble in the steering wheel when braking?

If disk brakes the rotor could be worn and either needs replaced or turned.(put on a lathe to put it back in true again)Other possibilities are worn wheel bearings or worn ball joints. Best to have a shop look at it to determine the actual cause. My car does this when there is a tire out of round.

2001 Saturn SL1 windshield wipers will not stop?

The wiper motor assembly includes a "Park" sensor.

The sensor shuts off the wiper motor when two conditions are met:

  • The wiper switch is in the off position
  • The wiper blades are in the park location

If the park sensor is either damaged or dirty, the wipers will keep running.

If you are at all mechanically inclined, try opening the wiper motor assembly and see if you can clean the slide contacts that make up the sensor.

If that isn't helpful, replace the assembly.

Your check engine came out when car shakes?

WHENEVER the check engine light comes on, ALWAYS connect a code scanner to figure out why. The light is on to tell you that the computer has detected a "fault" and it wants to tell you all about it.

What causes intermittent pinging on acceleration on your 97 Lincoln Town Car?

Using too low an octane fuel, incorrect timeing, or carbon buildup. Timing isn't adjustable on the 97 so I would say it is carbon buildup and too low octane or cheap quality fuel. I have gotten "93" octane at cheapy places and still had pinging but gotten regular or mid grade at better stations and not had the slightest hint of ping. Also, check to make sure your plugs and wires are in good shape.

Why car steering Vibrate?

Normally this is caused by a tire out of balance or a bent wheel.

Why would the steering wheel vibrate on your Toyota Solara?

An alignment problem would not cause a vibration unless the alignment has worn the tires badly, therefore the tires would cause the vibration. If the tires are okay, have the drive axles checked, because a worn drive axle can cause vibration.

The car pulling to the right when the steering wheel is released is most likely an alignment problem, but could also be a "radial tire pull". Normally a rotation will correct that.

An alignment problem will NOT cause your wheels to bend. Normally, only an impact could cause that -- like pot holes, curbs, etc.

.

this could be due to oil sludge. this is a common problem for 2003 solara. make sure to change your oil often.

Try replacing the tires! Apparently, Solaras suspension is very sensitive to tires with bad belts, bumps, flat spots, etc. Mine was shaking between 40 and 70 mph--replaced the front tires and it's smooth as silk no

try getting your tires balanced

What might cause a 2000 Tundra to shake when the brakes are applied?

90% sure your front rotors are warped. Also check to see if your pads are wearing more on one side than the other, this is a sign that you need to replace your calipers aswell.

What are The symptoms of a wheel that is out of balance?

A shake in the steering wheel or car itself which occurs and/or increases as vehicle speed increases.

Your steering wheel on my 1990 civic keeps shaking?

if it shakes while your braking your front roters could be warped or if it shakes while your driving try balancing the tires at a tire shop.

What makes the catalytic converter go bad?

Many of the compounds that make your engine oil work better on the INSIDE of the engine are also "poisonous" to your catalytic converter as your engine starts to use oil.

The nice thing about catalytic converters, they burn unused hydrocarbons that come out the exhaust. You may not KNOW that your engine is burning oil until the catalytic converter gives out or even gets plugged up.

Watch the oil level in the crankcase. If it drops with no evidence of leaking, it's burning and your catalytic converter will die.

What causes vibration in Mercedes?

A Mercedes is no different than other vehicles and vibrations are caused by exactly the same things. They can be caused by anything from an out of balance wheel to a burned valve. It all depends on the type of vibration. Sometimes you just need an experienced mechanic to have a little time with the vehicle so there can be an accurate evaluation.

Sometimes just listening to the vehicle or taking it up to highway speed is enough for an experienced mechanic to tell you what's wrong.

Why would a car jerk during deceleration?

Well if its an automatic, that's easy... I have this too. first answer this...

how fast are you going?

does it have overdrive (auto only)?

if manual what gear you get up to when this happens?

well if its auto, and your going fairly fast and suddenly let go of the gas... its going to change down quite quick due to gearbox design. This would give the sensation of the car braking...

if its a manual car, then you are most likely in too low a gear to start with, this is why we change down when we loose our brakes, speed reduction is effective immedeatly without brakes...it slows you down to save emergency speed...1 min or so.

AnswerI am having a similar problem with my grand am! I have been told that it could be a motor mount AnswerMy 1993 Buick Skylark had the same problem last year-- if I took it above about 40mph after the engine was warmed up, every deceleration thereafter caused the car to shudder. After researching it a bit, I decided it was probably the Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid in the automatic transmission, so I had it replaced and the problem disappeared. I've read that this is a somewhat common problem with Overdrive, which my car does not have, so apparently the problem doesn't play favorites.

Experiencing a bad vibration between 1200-1400 RPM in a 2004 Chevy Silverado 4.3L No misfires Not throwing any codes Not a tranny problem as per shop Any ideas?

on my 2005 the wheel bearing wnt out and i feel the same rpm vibration, cheak the wear on the tires if its abnormal jack the side up check for tire wobbling

What does it mean when it feels like your front wheels are shaking?

it could mean that you have a bent rim, a wheel weight might have fallen off, or you need to have new tires, or it could need a front end alignment, but I would start out checking the balance on the tires and the shop should be able to tell you if it is a bent rim then go from there.

What caused my car to start shaking and lose power all of a sudden while I was on the road?

Probably just the road bumps and your car loosing power because of the road.

Check your tires too.

What causes an aggressive shake when stopping a 2007 Chevy Silverado when you have installed 22 inch rims?

It probably is not the rims at all. Check your brake rotors for wear and make sure the wheels are properly "torqued" when you re-install the wheels.

Hi
Could be the wheel torque, although if the lugs were loose I'd think one or more of your wheels would have come off by now.
Your original brakes are probably not big enough to handle the extra load of the bigger wheels. They were not designed to handle anything bigger than the stock wheel size, so why would you expect them to be able to?
I'm no expert, but I'd guess along with pimpmobiling your ride you might have to change the calipers for bigger pads, and maybe even upsize the rotors. If you only have 6000 miles I'd doubt the rotors are warped.
