Car Shaking Problems

Not really. If one of the three cylinders is not functioning, the engine has lost MORE than 1/3 of the power if you take into consideration that the engine is still moving the "dead" piston.

If disk brakes the rotor could be worn and either needs replaced or turned.(put on a lathe to put it back in true again)Other possibilities are worn wheel bearings or worn ball joints. Best to have a shop look at it to determine the actual cause. My car does this when there is a tire out of round.

WHENEVER the check engine light comes on, ALWAYS connect a code scanner to figure out why. The light is on to tell you that the computer has detected a "fault" and it wants to tell you all about it.

Using too low an octane fuel, incorrect timeing, or carbon buildup. Timing isn't adjustable on the 97 so I would say it is carbon buildup and too low octane or cheap quality fuel. I have gotten "93" octane at cheapy places and still had pinging but gotten regular or mid grade at better stations and not had the slightest hint of ping. Also, check to make sure your plugs and wires are in good shape.

The lug nuts weren't tightened.

Normally this is caused by a tire out of balance or a bent wheel.

An alignment problem would not cause a vibration unless the alignment has worn the tires badly, therefore the tires would cause the vibration. If the tires are okay, have the drive axles checked, because a worn drive axle can cause vibration.

The car pulling to the right when the steering wheel is released is most likely an alignment problem, but could also be a "radial tire pull". Normally a rotation will correct that.

An alignment problem will NOT cause your wheels to bend. Normally, only an impact could cause that -- like pot holes, curbs, etc.

Does it have a miss? check plugs and wires. Also a possibility of a bad throttle position sensor.

Possibly tire is out of balance and low of air pressure. Can also be the caliber is not fully releasing the brake pads on the right front wheel.

90% sure your front rotors are warped. Also check to see if your pads are wearing more on one side than the other, this is a sign that you need to replace your calipers aswell.

A shake in the steering wheel or car itself which occurs and/or increases as vehicle speed increases.

if it shakes while your braking your front roters could be warped or if it shakes while your driving try balancing the tires at a tire shop.

Many of the compounds that make your engine oil work better on the INSIDE of the engine are also "poisonous" to your catalytic converter as your engine starts to use oil.

The nice thing about catalytic converters, they burn unused hydrocarbons that come out the exhaust. You may not KNOW that your engine is burning oil until the catalytic converter gives out or even gets plugged up.

Watch the oil level in the crankcase. If it drops with no evidence of leaking, it's burning and your catalytic converter will die.

A Mercedes is no different than other vehicles and vibrations are caused by exactly the same things. They can be caused by anything from an out of balance wheel to a burned valve. It all depends on the type of vibration. Sometimes you just need an experienced mechanic to have a little time with the vehicle so there can be an accurate evaluation.

Sometimes just listening to the vehicle or taking it up to highway speed is enough for an experienced mechanic to tell you what's wrong.

Worn bushes or warped brake rotor. Replace faulty item.

it could mean that you have a bent rim, a wheel weight might have fallen off, or you need to have new tires, or it could need a front end alignment, but I would start out checking the balance on the tires and the shop should be able to tell you if it is a bent rim then go from there.

Probably just the road bumps and your car loosing power because of the road.

Check your tires too.

It probably is not the rims at all. Check your brake rotors for wear and make sure the wheels are properly "torqued" when you re-install the wheels.

Could be the wheel torque, although if the lugs were loose I'd think one or more of your wheels would have come off by now.
Your original brakes are probably not big enough to handle the extra load of the bigger wheels. They were not designed to handle anything bigger than the stock wheel size, so why would you expect them to be able to?
I'm no expert, but I'd guess along with pimpmobiling your ride you might have to change the calipers for bigger pads, and maybe even upsize the rotors. If you only have 6000 miles I'd doubt the rotors are warped.
